Chapter 343: The Car Accident

If only he hadn’t let Emma Hart take the children for their check-up alone. If he had sent someone with her or accompanied her himself, this wouldn’t have happened. The more Damian Sterling dwelled on it, the more it tore him apart.

Returning home, Damian Sterling rushed to check on Emma Hart’s injury, his heart aching with worry. He pampered her, calling Mrs. Harris to prepare a foot-soothing soup. However, he soon decided it would be better if he made it himself. But Damian, never having cooked before, was a disaster in the kitchen. The stove was a mystery to him, and after a chaotic session, the kitchen looked like a war zone. The pot was burnt, the fish still had scales and was flopping on the counter, and two bowls lay shattered in the sink.

"Mr. Sterling, let me handle this. Mrs. Hart is calling for you," Mrs. Harris said, watching the mess Damian had made. She realized it would take forever for Emma to eat if they waited for Damian to finish cooking, and the kitchen was in no condition for him to continue.

"Emma, how are you feeling?" Damian asked tenderly, rushing to her side. Seeing her in pain broke his heart, and he felt helpless.

A month passed, and Emma’s ankle improved significantly, alleviating Damian’s constant worry.

"Damian, I want to learn how to drive. Once I know how, you won’t have to be so busy driving me around," Emma said, now almost fully recovered.

"Learn to drive? Why? Isn’t our driver good enough?" Damian was puzzled by her sudden interest.

"It’s not that. I just want something to do. Being stuck at home for a month drove me crazy. Learning to drive will give me something productive to focus on," Emma explained logically, leaving Damian with no reason to argue.

"Alright then, I’ll have Uncle Ma enroll you in a driving class tomorrow."

"Really? Thank you so much! I love you!" Emma exclaimed, jumping up and wrapping her arms around Damian’s neck, showering him with kisses. Damian, having restrained himself from touching her while she was injured, couldn’t resist any longer now that she was better.

That night, they shared an intimate evening, with Emma feeling the beauty of the night and her heart filled with happiness.

The next day, Emma Hart was ready to head out for her driving lessons.

However, it seemed like driving wasn’t her forte, and she struggled to get the hang of it. If you were there, you’d frequently hear comments like:

"Emma Hart, you keep honking but not braking. Are you trying to warn them they’re about to get hit?"

"Emma Hart, why aren’t you moving? Are you waiting for a traffic light in your favorite color?"

"Emma Hart, hit the brakes! The brakes!"

"Emma Hart, were you sent by the heavens just to mess with us?"

"Emma Hart, please, I’m begging you. How about I give you a refund and you stop learning?"

"Coach, trust me, I can do this. I have to learn, or Damian Sterling will never let me live it down," Emma pleaded with her instructor, determined not to give up.

"Alright, but you really need to focus," the coach said reluctantly. Emma wasn’t stupid, but something just wasn’t clicking for her.

Then, almost miraculously, her skills took a dramatic leap forward. It was as if she had suddenly become a different person. She mastered reversing, braking, turning, and navigating slopes with impressive ease. Finally, she had learned to drive, and she headed home, eager to show off to Damian Sterling.

Damian, always prepared, had anticipated this moment. He had already bought her a gift: a brand-new Cadillac, the latest model. It was not only beautiful but also boasted top-notch safety features.

Seeing the car, Emma’s eyes lit up with joy. She couldn’t wait to take it for a spin, her heart swelling with pride and happiness. Damian watched her, a satisfied smile on his face, knowing he had given her something both practical and luxurious. Their bond deepened with each shared success and challenge, bringing them closer than ever.

Emma Hart was driving the new car Damian Sterling had given her, feeling elated and humming a tune as she went shopping. But her joy was abruptly interrupted when several burly men in black suits surrounded her car. The man in front addressed her, "Miss Emma, our master wants to see you."

"Master? Who? I don’t know anyone like that," Emma replied, bewildered.

"You’ll understand when you get there. Please, come with us."

At the Sterling family estate.

"Emma," Mr. Sterling Senior greeted her as she entered.

"Hello, Grandfather. Is there something you need from me?" Emma asked with a respectful yet firm tone, confident that no one would dare harm her given Damian Sterling’s influence.

But Emma miscalculated. This was Damian’s grandfather, and the Sterling family valued loyalty and obedience above all else. Even Damian would struggle to defy Mr. Sterling Senior.

"You look well taken care of by Damian," Mr. Sterling Senior began. "Name your price and leave him. Our family is not one you can just walk into. You don’t belong here."

Though old, Mr. Sterling Senior’s voice was strong and the large, empty room amplified his words, making Emma tremble.

"Grandfather, Damian and I truly love each other. We even have children together. I don’t want money; I just want to be with Damian. If I leave, what will happen to our children? I can’t bear the thought. Please, let us be," Emma pleaded, tears streaming down her face, her voice shaking with emotion.

"Who dared to lay a hand on her?" a powerful voice echoed through the room, cutting through the tension. Damian Sterling strode in, his presence commanding and reassuring Emma instantly. "Do not test my patience. If you touch her, I won’t hesitate to go after your precious ones. I know who they are. I respect you, but do not interfere with my life. Especially not with her."

Damian scooped Emma into his arms, ready to leave.

"Damian, I may be old and no longer in control, but how could you choose a woman like her?" Mr. Sterling Senior’s voice was filled with exasperation and anger, struggling to catch his breath. He coughed for a long time, his frustration evident. He believed Emma was unreliable and feared for the future of the Sterling family, given their vast wealth and influence.
