Overbearing CEO's Contract Love
Chapter 245: Restroom Fright

Chapter 245: Restroom Fright

Damien Sterling eyed an astonished Amelia Davidson before shifting his gaze to Emma Hart, who was so tense she seemed unable to speak or even breathe. He casually picked up something else and placed it onto Amelia’s plate with a cold command, "Eat."

Amelia watched the whole process dumbfounded, then lowered her head to inspect her plate. Could this be the same man reputed to be a cold-hearted CEO? Wasn’t this kindness to his subordinate?

Fearing Amelia might suspect something, Logan Harrington deliberately pushed his plate towards Damien, adopting a flirty tone, "Mr. CEO, why don’t you serve me a piece too?"

Damien turned slightly, his voice indifferent, "Get lost!"

Beneath the table, Damien’s legs shifted restlessly.

Emma rose awkwardly, "I need to use the restroom."

Following her, Damien slowly put down his chopsticks and, without any hurry, wiped his lips with a napkin. "I’ll go too."

Amelia watched the two leave together. Across the table, Logan quickly changed the subject. "Um, they’re giving us a chance here. Maybe we should take this moment..."

As Logan reached out tentatively, Amelia knocked his hand with her chopsticks. His hand withdrew instantly. "I meant we should eat more!" Logan said, picking up more food for Amelia’s plate. "Eat this, you probably want to keep in shape."

Amelia put her chopsticks down, "I’m full."

Logan also set down his chopsticks and stared at Amelia admiringly.

At the restroom entrance, Emma stood before the mirror, observing her slightly protruding belly and adjusting her clothing.

Suddenly, a man’s face appeared behind her in the reflection. Emma turned in panic, her back pressing against the marble wall as Damien reached out and naturally drew her close, pulling her into his embrace.

Emma tried to push Damien away as he whispered in her ear. The warm breath felt overwhelming. Although she wanted to resist, she felt strangely powerless. Her eyes darted around; thankfully, Logan and Amelia were still seated at their table. She hoped desperately that they wouldn’t look this way.

As people passed by, Damien Sterling, a cunning man, would feign closeness, making any observer think they were merely a couple being affectionate. "There are people everywhere," Emma Hart complained, leaning her head against Damien’s chest to avoid his looming face. "What’s there to be afraid of?" Damien teased her with a suggestive tone.

Emma glared at him, knowing full well his malicious intent—he was clearly provoking on purpose!

Suddenly, trouble brewed. Amelia Davidson, likely fed up with Logan Harrington’s advances, was walking their way. The restroom’s layout oddly made it easier to see out than in, providing a peculiar kind of visibility.

Emma, panicking, pounded on Damien’s chest. "Amelia is coming! Amelia is coming!" Her anxiety seemed only to amuse Damien more. With a rakish look in his eyes, he watched Amelia approaching from afar, tilting his high-bridged nose towards Emma. "And then what?"

And then what? What else but the inevitable discovery by Amelia of their sordid affair, leading to contempt and the loss of a crucial friendship for Emma!

Emma’s face turned blue with nerves as Amelia stepped closer with each terrifying stride. "Let go of me! Let me go!" she pleaded, but Damien’s grip seemed only to tighten.

It looked like Damien had no intention of releasing her. As Amelia turned the corner, Emma felt certain doom, already figuring out how to explain herself.

She gained an even deeper understanding of Damien’s vile behavior—utterly despicable!

Emma could only close her eyes in despair. "Emma?" she heard Amelia’s voice, tinged with confusion.

Resigned, Emma slowly opened her eyes. Oddly, Damien was missing. Nearby, the sound of running water; Damien was nonchalantly washing his hands as if nothing had happened.

"Why are you turned away, and why such a fierce look? Are you not feeling well?" Amelia looked at her worriedly, sensing something off but unable to pinpoint what exactly.

With her back to the mirror, Emma watched Damien casually dry his hands and walk away. If his company ever went bankrupt, he could surely win an Oscar for his acting—his face so meticulously impassive, it seemed as though the recent events were all just Emma’s imagination.

Emma Hart turned around, a mechanical, awkward smile on her face. "I... I think I forgot to wash my hands earlier."

"Are you nervous because the CEO was here?" Amelia Davidson glanced at the departing Damien Sterling. "He seems fine to me, just a bit unapproachable because of that icy demeanor, but that’s about it."

Really, was that all? Amelia certainly had no idea about the nefarious deeds of this man.

Back in the design department, Emma pulled out a chair and sat down, her nerves still frayed from the harrowing lunch break. It had been a grueling ordeal just getting through the afternoon.

At her computer, Emma flicked the mouse, frowning when she noticed something off about the screen, as if someone had tampered with it. Shaking her head, perhaps still unsettled from the day’s earlier events, she grabbed her water cup to fill it up.

In the break room, she ran into Zoe, who looked oddly anxious. "Zoe, what’s wrong?" Emma asked, filling a cup of water and ready to offer some comfort.

Zoe shook her head and hurried out of the room, leaving Emma puzzled. Emma checked her reflection in her phone—there was nothing on her face. Why was Zoe acting so rushed?

Shaking her head, Emma walked out of the break room, perplexed.

Her design draft was in the final stretch; it looked like she would meet Amelia Davidson’s deadline on time. Although the project was assigned to the design department and split into groups A and B, Emma, representing group B, knew the final decision would come from the client.

As a newcomer, Emma Hart knew that her chance to handle such a significant project was entirely thanks to Amelia Davidson. She was aware that although Amelia had high expectations for her, she wouldn’t have chosen her without careful consideration.

Emma Hart scrutinized her design draft once more, making sure it was absolutely perfect.
