Overbearing CEO's Contract Love
Chapter 16: Be a Little Good

Chapter 16: Be a Little Good

"Do you realize the consequences of angering me?" Damien Sterling demanded, forcefully tilting Emma Hart’s chin upwards, compelling her to look directly at him.

Emma Hart found herself once again forcibly brought back to the villa, her days there filled with an anxiety akin to ants under a scorching lens.

The overwhelming thoughts of bearing a child and marrying this man ignited a mix of anger and urgency within her. In a sudden outburst, she hurled a delicate vase to the ground, shattering it without a trace of pity, her slender figure slowly sinking to the floor as tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.

In another part of the city, a woman with an exquisitely beautiful face was fiddling with a stack of photos.

They weren’t just any photos; they captured every candid moment between Damien Sterling and Emma, complete with recordings of their conversations.

Sofia Greenwood clenched her teeth in rage, especially when she heard the words "marry soon" from the recording.

Overwhelmed with emotion, she threw the recorder with such force that it shattered instantly.

"Emma Hart, if you dare to have any ties with Damien, don’t expect any mercy from me."

Her eyes, usually gentle and tranquil, were now swirling with hatred and jealousy.

The man she had adored for years was set to marry a woman whose background was a mystery to her.

Sofia clutched the photos tightly before ruthlessly cutting them into pieces and discarding them in the trash.

The wedding was set for May 20th.

On that day, every hotel in the city was booked, and all the wedding shops had received a strict directive not to accept any other orders.

The entire city buzzed with talks about this century’s wedding, everyone curious about the woman who had captured the young master’s heart.

The media, eager for any scrap of news, found themselves up against the impenetrable wall of Sterling Enterprises.

As the wedding day drew near, the manager of the city’s most prestigious bridal shop respectfully visited the villa where Emma resided.

Emma, flipping through wedding albums with a growing sense of impatience, slammed them shut.

"I won’t go," she declared firmly, rejecting the manager’s suggestion to try on dresses.

To her surprise, Damien Sterling’s personal attendant stood before her, gesturing politely.

"The young master’s car is waiting downstairs."

This man!

Emma bit her lip in frustration, knowing that refusal would mean being carried out against her will.

Remembering the muscular bodyguards, she sighed and followed the attendant to the car reluctantly.

Upon arriving at the city’s most opulent bridal shop, the lavish and romantic décor normally evoked feelings of joy and anticipation.

But for Emma Hart, there was not a trace of such emotions, only a burning desire to flee.

Emma discreetly pulled aside a shop assistant, her pleading eyes softening the assistant’s heart.

"Please, help me disguise myself as a customer and escape!"

Emma’s eyes, filled with a deer-like vulnerability, clearly spoke of her desperate situation.

With the kind-hearted assistance of the shop clerk, Emma managed to evade the bodyguards and slipped out the side door.

"Emma Hart, why have you come back? Do you not realize how many people long to join the Sterling family? We come from such a humble background, and yet you have caught his eye. Why won’t you just go along with it?" her grandmother scolded her, sending a chill down Emma’s spine.

Her grandmother’s earnest pleas, though seemingly for Emma’s well-being, were also driven by the hope of benefiting from Emma’s marriage into the Sterling family.

Emma’s heart was filled with thoughts of her brother, vowing to secure every possible opportunity for him.

With a heavy heart and eyes cast downward, Emma remained silent, a bitter sense of sorrow welling up inside her.

Her grandmother, seeing Emma silence, continued her persuasion, alternating between harsh and gentle tactics.
