Chapter 81: I Don’t Like to Share
Klaus POV:
My whole demeanor shifted immediately. I practically leaped from the couch, crossing the room to where Mira stood by the mini-bar, a faintly exasperated look in her eyes as she poured herself a glass of wine.
Without hesitation, I wrapped my arms around her, peppering her face with kisses, a smile lighting up my face. "Mira, you’re incredible," I murmured, my smile wide as I looked at her. "I don’t know what I’d do without you. You’re the best."
Mira let out a low, amused laugh as she pried me off her gently, pressing her hand against my chest to put a little space between us. There was a flicker of fondness in her eyes, but it was shadowed by something sharper, something that made her presence both reassuring and intimidating.
"Klaus," she said, her voice tinged with a hint of exasperation. "If you wanted to deal with Ella, you should have come to me. Associating with someone like Joanne?" She shook her head, reaching for the wine bottle at the minibar. "She’s a loose cannon. Now look at you , hiding out like some fugitive because of her mess."
I let out an awkward chuckle, scratching the back of my neck, my excitement dampened by the cold truth in her words. "You’re right. You’re totally right. Next time, I’ll definitely come to you. I should have trusted you from the start."
Mira took a long sip of her wine, her gaze assessing. I could tell she was weighing her next words, and the intensity of her stare made me feel as if she could see straight through me.
"No, Klaus," she replied finally, her tone as sharp as her gaze. "There will be no next time." Her eyes locked onto mine, and I felt the weight of her words settle heavily between us. "Arec’s planning to marry Ella. You understand what that means, don’t you?"
A shadow crossed my face. My hands instinctively clenched at the thought of her with him, laughing, sharing moments – a future that should have been mine. "And that means what? That I have to just stand by and watch them?"
"Yes," she said simply, her voice steady, unwavering. "Arec isn’t someone you should mess with. He’s not just from a wealthy family – he’s my uncle’s godson. My uncle’s been generous to our family, Klaus, more than you know. He’s given us every luxury, every opportunity. I won’t have that put in jeopardy."
Her words felt like cold water splashed over me, and I stared at her, trying to process it. The idea of backing down, letting Ella move on, watching her slip away so easily... I could hardly stand it.
"So, what – you’re just telling me to let her get away with everything? To let her live this perfect life with him?" My voice rose as I struggled to keep my emotions in check, the bitterness and frustration bubbling up despite myself.
Mira’s gaze hardened, a flash of irritation sparking in her eyes. "This isn’t about you anymore, Klaus," she replied, her tone icier now. "This is about me. About my future. My uncle has no family of his own. If he’s happy with me, I stand to inherit everything. Everything." She gave me a hard look, emphasizing her point. "I’m not risking that for your vendetta."
I looked away, jaw clenched so tightly I could feel the tension radiate down my neck. The thought of Ella happy – especially with someone as polished and untouchable as Arec – burned inside me. I was the one who’d ended things, yet I was the one haunted by the idea of her moving on. I could feel my hands curling into fists, my nails digging into my palms as I fought to keep my resentment in check.
A silence settled over the room, Mira watching me carefully, like a hawk observing wounded prey. She took another sip of her wine, then set the glass down with a soft clink.
"Klaus," she said, her voice quiet but laced with an edge that made me look up. Her gaze was piercing, unrelenting as she studied my face. "Are you still in love with her?"
The question hit me like a slap, sharp and unexpected. My head snapped up, and I shook my head, almost too quickly, forcing out a laugh that sounded a little too defensive. "Of course not." I kept my tone firm, forcing the words out as if that would make them more real. "My heart, my everything belongs to you, Mira. You’re a hundred times better than Ella. There’s no comparison."
She raised an eyebrow, her lips pulling into a small, skeptical smile as she continued to study me, as if measuring the truth of my words. Her gaze lingered on my face, cool and calculating, and for a moment, I had the uncomfortable feeling that she didn’t quite believe me.
But then, her expression softened, a slow, pleased smile spreading across her face. "Good," she murmured, her voice low as she stepped closer, her gaze trapping mine. Her eyes gleamed with satisfaction, an almost predatory gleam, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. She tilted her head up, her lips brushing against mine as she whispered, "Because I don’t share."
My heart raced as she leaned in, her lips brushing against mine. The kiss was intense, pulling me in, and I felt all the frustration and tension that had been building up melt away under her touch.
The kiss deepened, our breaths mingling as we clung to each other, and before I knew it, I was lifting her into my arms, carrying her toward the bedroom.
The door swung shut behind us with a soft click, as we stumbled towards the bed. The room was quiet, save for our heavy breaths and the faint rustle of clothes as we fumbled towards the bed. The moonlight seeped through the curtains, casting a silver glow that highlighted every curve of Mira’s body as she pressed herself against me.
"Klaus," Mira breathed, her voice low and husky, "I’ve been waiting for this all day." Her lips found my neck, sending a shiver down my spine as she kissed and nibbled along the sensitive skin.
"Same here, baby." I admitted, my voice rough with desire. My hands slid down her back, pulling her closer until there was no space between us. Her fingers tightened in my hair, urging me to lean down further.
We tumbled onto the bed, the mattress giving way beneath us as we landed in a tangle of limbs. Mira’s nails raked lightly across my shoulders, a mix of pleasure and pain that made me groan into her ear. Her legs wrapped around mine, pulling me even closer as we tried to fuse together.
"God, you feel so good," I murmured, my lips moving down to her collarbone, tasting the salty sweetness of her skin. My hands roamed over her body, mapping out every inch as if memorizing it for later. Her curves fit perfectly beneath my palms, her softness a startling contrast to the heat radiating from her core.
Mira whimpered, a sound that sent a jolt of electricity through my veins. "Don’t stop, Klaus," she pleaded, her voice thick with need. "I need you now."
Her words were like a shot of adrenaline, pushing me to move faster, harder. I rolled us over so that she was beneath me, my weight pressing her into the mattress. Her eyes locked onto mine, dark and hungry, filled with a desperation that mirrored my own.
---
Few minutes, I reluctantly pulled out of her, rolling to the side and pulling her close. She snuggled against my chest, her fingers tracing idle patterns on my skin. The room was silent except for our ragged breathing, the world outside forgotten as we floated in our own bubble of contentment.
"That was... incredible," she murmured, her voice sleepy and content.
I chuckled softly, kissing the top of her head. "Agreed. But I think we can do better."
Her eyes widened with curiosity and arousal, the spark of desire reigniting. "What do you have in mind?"
Before she could react, I rolled us again, this time positioning myself above her once more. My fingers trailed down her body, pausing at the apex of her thighs where her core pulsed with a renewed hunger.
"How about we take our time this round?" I suggested, my tone playful yet determined. "No rushing, just savoring every moment."
Mira bit her lip, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. "Sounds perfect," she whispered.
With that, I leaned down and captured her lips in a slow, sensual kiss, my tongue delving deep as I prepared to explore every inch of her body.
