Chapter 117: Taking His Reward
Chapter 117: Taking His Reward
I let out a small hum of agreement, sanking deeper into Arec’s embrace. His warmth, his steady presence—it was enough to make the worries about Joanne fade, at least for now. Whatever her true intentions were, I would figure them out soon enough.
The gentle creak of the guest room door opening caught my attention, and I turned just in time to see my mother stepping inside. She paused for a moment, taking in the sight of Arec and me standing together, his arms wrapped securely around me. A knowing smile touched her lips.
"Kate left?" she asked, her voice soft but laced with that familiar motherly concern.
I nodded, still not moving from Arec’s hold. "Yes mom."
She gave me a small, approving glance—one that wordlessly told me she was glad I wasn’t alone in my thoughts tonight. Then, with a tired sigh, she stretched her arms slightly. "I need to get some rest. My body isn’t as forgiving as it used to be, and I might have overexerted myself today."
I immediately frowned. "Are you okay?"
She waved a hand dismissively. "Nothing a good night’s sleep won’t fix." Then she turned her attention to Arec, her smile warm. "Make sure my daughter gets some rest too. Goodnight, you two."
"Goodnight, Mom," I said, watching as she made her way to her room.
As soon as she was gone, Arec tightened his arms around me slightly. "Your mom’s right. We should probably call it a night too."
I hummed in response, still reluctant to pull away. The thought of leaving his warmth, even just to move a few steps toward the bedroom, felt unnecessary when we could just stay like this.
Arec chuckled, sensing my stubbornness. "You’re really comfortable, huh?"
I grinned against his shoulder. "Very."
The next thing I knew, he was shifting, and before I could process what was happening, I was being lifted off my feet.
"Arec!" I shrieked, startled as he effortlessly scooped me up into his arms, holding me in a princess carry. A surprised laugh bubbled out of me. "Put me down!"
"Not a chance," he said, his smirk playful. "You’re clearly too comfortable to walk, so I might as well carry you."
I swatted at his shoulder, still laughing. "You’re ridiculous!"
"And yet, you’re still in my arms," he teased.
I pouted, crossing my arms in mock defiance. "Because you won’t put me down!"
Arec only grinned and started walking toward our bedroom, completely unfazed. "Exactly. Now stop fighting it and just enjoy the ride."
I sighed dramatically but couldn’t stop the fond smile tugging at my lips as I leaned into him, letting myself relax.
The moment we stepped into the bedroom, I expected Arec to gently set me down and let me settle in for the night. And he did—at first. His arms loosened, lowering me onto the soft mattress, but before I could fully register the comfort, he moved, bracing his hands on either side of me and leaning in with a mischievous smirk. His eyes gleamed with something playful yet undeniably dangerous.
I raised an eyebrow, amused. "What are you doing, Arec?"
"Waiting for my reward," he said smoothly.
I let out a laugh, shaking my head. "Reward for what?"
He feigned a pout, tilting his head. "For entertaining your friend Kate. She was a handful, and it wasn’t easy on me."
I giggled, reaching up to poke his cheek. "Entertaining? I thought she was the one doing the entertaining. You just sat there looking handsome."
Arec hummed, as if considering my words, then grinned. "Okay then, reward me for just sitting there looking handsome." He leaned in a little closer, his breath warm against my lips.
I chuckled, eyes twinkling. "Seriously? You were the one insisting I needed to rest, remember?"
His smirk deepened. "This is part of resting. In a fantastic way."
I burst into laughter, playfully pushing against his chest. "Are you being serious right now?"
"Absolutely." He didn’t wait for my response before capturing my lips in a kiss. It started slow, teasing, his lips barely brushing against mine, but the moment I kissed him back, his restraint unraveled.
The shift was electric. His hand slipped behind my neck, tilting my head as his mouth moved hungrily over mine. Heat flooded my body, wiping away the lingering thoughts of Joanne and whatever she was planning. All that mattered was this moment—Arec, the warmth of his skin, the way he kissed me like I was the only thing that existed in his world.
His hands roamed, tracing over my arms, my waist, leaving tingles in their wake. My fingers found his shirt, gripping the fabric before pushing it up. He took the hint, pulling it off in one smooth motion before his hands returned to me, sliding under my top with deliberate slowness.
A shiver ran through me as his lips left mine to explore the sensitive skin of my neck. I sighed, arching into him, my hands running over his toned chest. Our breaths mingled, each touch fanning the flames between us, building, intensifying.
Clothes disappeared, falling haphazardly to the floor, but I barely noticed. My mind was lost in him—the feel of his body pressing against mine, the deep hum in his throat as he murmured my name, the way he made me forget everything except how good it felt to be his.
He claimed me, over and over again that night, with a hunger that left me breathless, his touch igniting every inch of my skin. He didn’t just make love to me—he worshipped me, his lips tracing a path of fire along my body, his hands exploring with a reverence that made me feel adored, cherished, and utterly his.
Not even my pregnancy slowed us down. If anything, it only added to the intensity, the need to connect in ways that transcended the physical. Every movement was deliberate, every position designed to make me feel pleasure in ways I hadn’t before. He held me, guided me, tested my limits with whispered words of encouragement, his voice thick with desire as he pushed me closer to the edge, only to pull me back and build me up again.
He didn’t just take me—he unraveled me, again and again, until I was left trembling beneath him, my body singing with pleasure, my mind lost in the overwhelming sensation of him. The world outside ceasing to exist.
