Otherworld Advance Team
Chapter 425 - 418: God Creation Plan

Chapter 425: Chapter 418: God Creation Plan

Among all, only Tangmo and Baiyue were silent, their brows furrowed, their expressions grave, their gaze unwavering from the blueprint on the table.

"Based on the information we have gathered, they need a large number of magic crystals to summon this so-called God. If they succeed, they will announce that they can bring God to Earth. This would be a devastating blow to us." Hillna continued solemnly.

Luo’er nodded at her words, showing understanding. Even without considering whether the people of the Ancient States could summon this so-called God, assuming they did succeed, the blow to the Church Court would be just as severe as opposing Earthlings.

Because once the people of the Ancient States gain the power to dictate about God, the Church Court system established around the Goddess of Light could collapse in an instant. Believers would desert the church and flock to the so-called God of the Ancient States.

The God of the Ancient States also stands for the belief in the God of Light, but they have their own name for her: Besson. According to the legends of the people of the Ancient States, Besson is the Goddess of Light, bringing light to the Earth. Developing a religion of their own, they’ve established beliefs centred around Besson.

Unlike the Church Court, the Ancient States don’t compel everyone to follow Besson and even permit other faiths to exist within their territories. In this respect, the practices of the Ancient States are much better than those of the Church Court.

However, while they aren’t restrictive of faiths, they prohibit the existence of the Church Court’s beliefs within their territories. This is because, on one hand, the Church’s deity conflicts with their Besson, and on the other hand, the Church Court, as a conservative power, often suppresses other religions. So, if Church Court’s influence existed within Ancient States, it would eventually become a fifth column, guiding the Church Court’s Judgement Legion to the Ancient States.

"So, our mission is to go with you to the Ancient States and eliminate this so-called ’False God.’ Is that correct?" Cheng Ziang asked, shrugging helplessly with a somewhat jocular tone.

Only the Church would concern themselves with such matters. Anyone with a smidgen of sense knows that God cannot possibly exist. Therefore, the people of the Ancient States couldn’t possibly summon this so-called God. At best, they might be able to summon some sort of bizarre entity from another world.

However, this is nothing new for the inhabitants of the Otherworld. During the Dark Century, they encountered countless monsters. Even today, the Church’s library houses a thick volume called the Sin Album of the Dark Century.

"Don’t underestimate the people of the Ancient States. Once they manage to summon their deity, everyone will suffer!" In response to Cheng Ziang’s dismissive attitude, Hillna, angered, hit the table and vehemently declared.

"But God... Oh well..." Cheng Ziang wanted to explain, but felt as if he would be preaching to the choir.

"So, your expectation is for us to send our troops alongside you to the Ancient States to destroy this so-called ’God.’ Is that correct?" Wang Xu asked after pondering for a while.

"Absolutely correct," Hillna nodded, "God should never descend to Earth, at least certainly not upon the Ancient States!"

"Ah, the story of the grand duke and the dragon..." Cheng Ziang exchanged a glance with Luo’er, shaking his head in resignation.

"So, it’s sufficient for the Advance Team to assist you in your journey to the Ancient States, correct?" Wang Xu asked.

"Yeah," Kroel, who had been silent all along, nodded and then said, "With the help of the Advance Team, I think we should have an easier time."

"That’s good..." Wang Xu nodded, hiding a smirk.

At the outskirts of Yazhi City, the Judgment Legion had reportedly mobilized an army of more than five hundred for this operation. The Advance Team only consisted of five members, who, when added to their forces, would be like a droplet joining the ocean, barely making any difference.

Wang Xu assumed that this must be the Pope’s idea. The intention was likely to get the headquarters staff involved in the Judgement Legion’s plans and deepen cooperation between the two parties since good relations would require continuous interaction.

In other words, the Advance Team’s task this time was to accompany the Judgement Legion for appearances’ sake and facilitate interactions to strengthen their rapport. As for assistance, the Judgement Legion, with their five hundred rune armoured knights on standby, certainly wouldn’t be calling on the Advance Team for help anytime soon.

"It seems like a trip more than anything else." Luo’er and Cheng Ziang exchanged glances, thinking to themselves.

However, Luo’er was thrilled about going to the South because his grandmother’s Wood Elf Kingdom, Ilanadale, was located along the borders of the Ancient States. He could use this opportunity to search for his mother in Ilanadale. Just the thought of possibly finding his mother made Luo’er’s heart race, leaving him weak in the knees.

"Yue’er, Sister Moumou, what’s wrong? You two seem off and haven’t spoken much since the beginning. What’s the matter?" Hu Daoke, noticing the strangeness in Tangmo and Baiyue, asked them with concern.

Both of them were intensely staring at the blueprint on the table with furrowed brows and unusually serious expressions, a stark contrast to their usual calm demeanour.

"How do those Ancient States people make God appear? Through a summoning?" After being silent for a long time, Tangmo pointed at the blueprint and asked Hillna.

"Of course, what else?" Hillna, taken aback by her serious expression, replied.

"No, this is not a summoning rune at all. Nothing can be summoned with this design!" Tangmo resolutely retorted, knitting her brows.

"Uh..." Hillna, humiliated by being refuted by a girl younger than her, asked in an irritated tone, "This is a rune, can you read runes?"

"Can you?" Faced with Hillna’s blustery stance, Tangmo asked calmly.

"Well..." Hillna was left speechless. She wasn’t particularly proficient in reading runes. Her major at the Magic Academy was Spells, and her understanding of the Rune Magic Circle was limited. Although she might be adept at Spells, but when it came to the Rune Magic Circle, she would inevitably be at a loss.

"Does the young lady have a better insight?" Kroel scrutinized her from head to toe, before asking with a smile.

Luo’er furrowed his brows. He didn’t like the lecherous look in Kroel’s eyes. Upon seeing Kroel sizing up Tangmo and Baiyue, Luo’er inexplicably felt irritated.

"I understand it. This is not a summoning rune, so it’s impossible to summon a so-called god." Tangmo ignored his gaze and spoke seriously.

"Tell us your thoughts." Kroel said, extending his hand.

"Whether summoning runes or summoning arrays, each has its own style. If you carefully compare them, it’s easy to find their patterns. But the diagram in front of us lacks these patterns, so I conclude that it is not a summoning rune!" Tangmo became very serious when talking about his area of expertise.

"So, that means this thing can’t actually summon any god, it’s merely just foolishness?" Cheng Ziang asked, spreading his hands.

"Then what is it?" Hu Daoke, standing beside, couldn’t help but ask.

"Impossible, Dean Shariya has already said that this diagram can summon a god!" Hillna refuted loudly.

As the dean of the Magic Academy, Shariya has always been involved in research on runes and magic arrays. Hence, the Church Court allowed him to inspect the Otherworld Gate in Lipei.

"I haven’t finished yet," Tangmo paused, then stated solemnly, "Though this diagram is not a summoning rune, it indeed could potentially summon a god."

"Why?" Luo’er asked, quite surprised.

Tangmo turned his head, seeing Luo’er staring wide-eyed at him, he felt a surge of satisfaction. He then grinned and replied, "According to our terminology, the rune depicted in the diagram should be a program!"

"Program?" Everyone in the advance team, including Wang Xu, was taken aback by this word from Earth.

"So...is it some kind of blueprint for an electronic computer?" Hu Daoke asked, with a puzzled look.

"What is a program?" Hillna queried with a frown.

"By conversion, magic can be transformed into many different forms of matter." Tangmo said, looking towards his teammates.

"Can magic be transformed into a solid using a rune?" Tangmo asked.

"Yes, Ice-Spear Spell is one such case!" Luo’er nodded in agreement.

"Can magic be transformed into a liquid using a rune?" Tangmo followed up.

"Yes, the Light Singularity can turn magic from a gaseous form into a liquid!" Cheng Ziang nodded and answered.

Nodding in confirmation, Tangmo followed up: "If there is now a solid transformed from magic, and liquid flows inside it. By inputting magic into it, the liquid channels continuously transform the magic into liquid flowing to the top of the solid and then transforming it into a solid. What do we call this process?"

"Growth!" Luo’er was the first one to catch on to her meaning.

"And what can grow?" Tangmo looked at him and asked.

"A life form!" Luo’er answered.

"You mean, this thing is a blueprint for the growth of magical creatures?" Hu Daoke asked her, looking shocked.

"No, it’s just a program." Tangmo shook her head.

"Then why are you bringing up this stuff?" Hu Daoke scratched his head and asked.

"I just wanted to tell you that magic exists in many forms. It can be used, and it can also constitute a life form. Now, I ask you, if there’s a program that can constantly learn and eventually possess wisdom equal to or even greater than a human being, what do we call that program?"

Er...everyone looked around at each other blankly.

"Artificial intelligence!" Baiyue coldly revealed the secret.

"Exactly, if artificial intelligence and a life form were to merge, what would it become?" continued Tangmo.

"A sentient being composed of magic," Luo’er said. Suddenly it seemed as if he realized something. He looked shocked and exclaimed, "That is... a God!"
