Chapter 1406: Chapter 1399: Cloyingly Entangled

"I’m not a believer," Luo’er answered.

"Alright," Xia Yue didn’t continue to press on the conversation, but instead clapped her hands to end the topic. "Take care of yourself. Although I probably know your future, there is still too much uncertainty. Take good care of yourself and don’t defy destiny’s arrangement."

"My destiny is..." Hearing her say that, Luo’er’s heartbeat immediately quickened.

But just as he began to speak, he saw Xia Yue smiling at him, her form gradually becoming transparent until it faded into the night, leaving only mottled specks of light.

"Ah..." It was rare to see an old friend and to witness her departure once again, Luo’er always felt a sense of loss, and he couldn’t help but let out an empty sigh.

Suddenly, he felt a warmth behind him; turning around, he saw the familiar figure again. Luoya, formed from soft light, stood obediently in her place, hands behind her back, tilting her head as she watched him.

Seeing the familiar form of Luoya, Luo’er did not get fooled this time. He quietly gazed at Luoya and then earnestly said, "Actually, you transformed into this appearance on your own accord, didn’t you? You know I’m not thinking of Luoya right now. But no matter what, thank you for giving me the chance to see my family again."

Hearing Luo’er’s words, Luoya squinted her eyes with a slight smile, and eventually, like Xia Yue, her body split into butterfly wings of light that slowly dispersed with the wind.

Luo’er suddenly opened his eyes in his dream, only to be met with a large pair of eyes and delicate, tempting lips. Before he could react, his vision darkened as something soft enveloped his lips.

"Mmm..." Luo’er let out a muffled sound and began struggling to sit up.

Tangmo reluctantly let go of him and pouted unhappily, "Why are you so nervous, it’s not like we haven’t kissed before."

"Who let you in..." Luo’er covered his mouth and asked her glumly.

"Are you saying you don’t allow me to come in?" Tangmo asked with an aggrieved look.

"I didn’t say that, but don’t be so hands-on," Luo’er said, rubbing his lips as his cheeks slowly turned red.

"We’re already in this kind of relationship, why are you always so reserved?" Tangmo asked, confused.

"Don’t forget, I’m still the Captain of the Advance Team, and you’re a member. A Captain getting handsy with his own team member, what would that look like?" Luo’er explained with gravitas.

"Fine then, I’ll apply to leave the team now, and then we’ll just be a couple, right?" Tangmo squinted her eyes unhappily.

"Do you really dare?" Luo’er gave her a reproachful look, helplessly saying.

"It’s like you’re certain I’m set on you, aren’t you..." Tangmo gritted her teeth, reaching out to pinch Luo’er’s cheeks, and continued, flustered.

Suddenly, she noticed something off about Luo’er and let go of his cheeks, asking in surprise, "Luo’er, you’re crying..."

"Yeah, I had a dream... some memories..." Luo’er quickly wiped away the tear stains from the corners of his eyes.

"Missing home?" Tangmo tilted her little head and asked.

"Yeah." Luo’er nodded gently.

"Didn’t you say before that home is wherever we are?" Tangmo said, nestling against Luo’er’s chest. This time, Luo’er unusually did not resist her closeness but accepted her affection.

"It’s complicated..." Hesitating for a moment, Luo’er still decided to clarify the truth with Tangmo, "Actually, I dreamed of Lady Xia Yue..."

"Xia Yue... Oh, I almost forgot, there are gods in this world, we could totally contact headquarters through a god!" Tangmo grabbed Luo’er’s shoulders, excitedly saying.

"Don’t get ahead of yourself," Luo’er said with a bitter smile, "Lady Xia Yue said that she won’t help us. This time she just came to convey headquarters’ intentions and to check if we had perished."

"Stingy, it’s not like it costs her a piece of flesh to pass on a message," Tangmo muttered discontentedly after she heard Luo’er’s words.

"Don’t speak of others like that," Luo’er said solemnly. "Actually, Lady Xia Yue also conveyed some good news. Headquarters has already started the rescue operation, and I believe that in another year or two, we’ll be able to be saved and go home."

"Really?" Hearing this, Tangmo immediately became excited again and hugged Luo’er tightly.

"Then, Lady Xia Yue also conveyed words of well-being to my mother on my behalf. Just thinking about her crying over me, I just..." Luo’er’s voice became nasal and choked, unable to continue.

"Then we should comfort her, shouldn’t we?" Tangmo narrowed her eyes, a glint of desire shining in them.

Her slender, scallion-like fingers slid along Luo’er’s neck. Luo’er’s skin was really good, even better than her own, and it was hard to imagine a boy having such delicate skin. If it weren’t for feeling his Adam’s apple, Tangmo couldn’t bear to think she was holding a manly man.

"What are you doing?" Noticing her subtle movements, Luo’er quickly reached out and grabbed her mischievous hand.

"How about we bring a grandson back for godmother? Wouldn’t that make her even happier?" Tangmo whispered this right into Luo’er’s neck, breathing hotly.

"Stop joking, this..." Luo’er seemed passive, his long, drooping ears turning red as a puff of her breath brushed past them.

"Don’t you like it when I do these things to you?" Tangmo backed away, looking at him with a sad expression.

"No, it’s not like that, it’s just...just the idea of having a child out of wedlock, it just feels..." Luo’er mumbled, head down, faltering in his explanation.

"What year is it to be still worried about having a child out of wedlock..." Tangmo sighed deeply. "I was right, you’re just an old-fashioned person from modern society."

"Also, about Yue’er..." Luo’er murmured with his lips pursed.

"Ah, I knew it, it can only be because of Yue’er," Tangmo said, her face showing a hint of grievance. "Though her lifespan is shorter than mine, so I should accommodate her first, but I just can’t control my impulses. You’re so outstanding; I don’t want to give you up to anyone else. If only I could split you in half."

"Ah?" Luo’er stared at her, dumbstruck by her words.

Noticing Luo’er’s gaze, Tangmo tilted her head and asked with a faint smile, "Luo’er, are you wondering why I’ve been becoming more like my sister lately? In fact, I’m becoming her, and she’s becoming me."

"So then, you’ll become one person, is that it?" Luo’er said, a touch of loss evident in his eyes.

"You really are two-timing, it’s killing me." Tangmo pinched his cheek angrily as she noticed the loss in Luo’er’s eyes.

"I’m not, it’s not what you think..." Luo’er’s explanation seemed rather weak.

"No matter what, I’m set on you for life," Tangmo said, holding Luo’er’s chin, moving her face close to look him in the eye, "Right now, everything is still under my control, Luo’er. I won’t allow you to like any more girls from now on. It stops here. Do you understand?"

"I understand..." Luo’er nodded slightly, somewhat dazed.

"Hehe," satisfied with his promise, Tangmo let go of him and then, looking quite amused, asked, "Otherwise, how about I let Momo out now and see how she would treat you?"

"Please no, she’ll devour me." Luo’er waved his hands frantically.

He knew Momo well; when a man and a woman were alone together, Momo could do anything, completely disregarding his opinions. Luo’er had little say in such matters to begin with; releasing Momo would make him like a lamb to the slaughter.

"No worries, I want to devour you too. Since the two of us sisters share a body, no matter who devours you, I win," Tangmo said, displaying a mischievous smile just like Momo’s.

"A hard melon isn’t sweet; please don’t..." Luo’er continued to resist.

"Then just let me kiss you one more time, and I won’t do anything else," Tangmo started to coerce him.

"Really...you won’t do anything else?" Luo’er wavered at her offer.

"Mhm, of course," Tangmo nodded eagerly.

"Alright, alright..." Luo’er sighed deeply.
