Chapter 1084: Chapter 1077: Streamline the Team

After this battle, Princess Nina’s image had truly taken root in everyone’s hearts. They couldn’t imagine that a noble princess of the Elven Kingdom could make such a crazy decision for the sake of her son. If the suicide threat didn’t work, she would physically fight her own people. This kind of courage was truly like no woman inferior to a man, worthy of someone who had participated in the Otherworld war in the past.

"That was almost a fight, you and Princess Nina are really crazy," the group arrived at the bridge, and Li Si shook his head and remarked.

"That’s just how she is, which is why I was confident I could safely leave Divine Wood Down," Luo’er explained, spreading his hands.

"Now that the airboat has taken off, Ilanadale has no anti-air weapons. It looks like we can only watch helplessly as we leave," Li Si walked to the window and looked out.

Soon after the group arrived at the bridge, other members of the airboat also came to the bridge. Upon seeing Luo’er return safely, Talis sighed in relief but frowned, "Why did you insist on staying in Divine Wood Down? It almost led to a fight."

"You don’t need to worry about that. We’re definitely going to do what we promised you," Cheng Ziang said with a shrug.

"If you want to die, hand over the Prime Fluid first. I don’t want to die with you," Talis said annoyedly.

"What kind of attitude is that, acting like we owe you something? Don’t forget, we found the Prime Fluid, not you. Without us, you wouldn’t even be able to enter the tomb," Hu Daoke yelled at her.

Upon hearing his rebuke, Talis bit her lip and glared fiercely at him, then took a deep breath and said seriously, "We’ve already wasted a lot of time. Let’s not waste any more on this. If you want Sir Xiapei Kam’s help, then stop dragging your feet."

"We will do what we promised. As for you, ensuring our safety after we land on the island depends solely on you," Cheng Ziang stated.

"Don’t worry, as long as you’re willing to help Sir Xiapei Kam, I will guarantee your safety with my life," Talis declared.

"If there’s nothing else, everyone can go. At this speed, it will take about three to four days to reach the coast. After we drop you off, we have to return to our base to report our mission," Li Si mediated.

With those words from him, everyone suddenly felt exhausted, although they had been idly in Divine Wood Down for several days, now it seemed as if they had been endlessly busy.

After exchanging greetings, everyone went back to their cabins to rest, leaving only Luo’er and a few others to discuss some matters with Li Si.

"Luo’er..." Feng, just before leaving, suddenly grabbed Luo’er’s arm and looked at him with a frown and concern.

"What’s wrong?" Luo’er blinked in confusion.

"Why didn’t you take me this time? Do you think I am useless?" Feng asked with his head lowered, feeling aggrieved.

"You haven’t recovered from your injury yet. If you had come with us and gotten hurt, what would we have done?" Luo’er said with a wry smile.

"I knew it..." Feng muttered, disheartened.

"Oh come on, don’t start this again. I’m not doubting your abilities, it’s just that you are sick now, you need to rest, not run around," Luo’er consoled.

"When you guys are away, I worry about you," Feng murmured, pursing his lips.

"I worry about you too, and I hope you get well soon," Luo’er replied.

"So if my illness doesn’t get better, will you keep leaving me at home?" Feng asked.

"What nonsense! If your illness doesn’t improve, we’ll find a way to solve it. How could we possibly just drag our feet and ignore it?" Luo’er explained, spreading his hands.

"But what if it can’t be cured no matter what?" Feng asked.

"Um..." Luo’er blinked as he thought and then said, "If it can’t be cured, just change your profession. You are still young, there are many possibilities, don’t always rely on your magic. When you go back, practice your shooting skills more, you might be able to help us later."

"Is that possible?" Feng asked joyfully upon hearing this.

"Of course, life is not an online game, there are infinite possibilities. When you go back, just learn other skills; you’ll eventually find the path that suits you," Luo’er consoled.

"Yeah, I got it, then I’ll wait for you to come back," Feng nodded vigorously, finally looking less gloomy.

After seeing off Feng, Luo’er shook his head helplessly. Being a captain was truly a job that entailed everything, not only leading troops in battle but also dealing with the team members’ emotional problems—almost like a nanny, yet even more exhausting.

He turned around, and Li Si was sizing up Axia next to him, apparently anticipating Luo’er’s intention. But at the same time that he was evaluating Axia, Axia was also evaluating Luo’er.

Truth be told, if it weren’t for the recent events, Axia would have never believed that Luo’er could actually be the son of Princess Ilanadale. His demeanor did not at all reflect the typical nobility expected of the Ilanadale royal family, instead, he seemed approachable—a reason she was unwilling to believe in Luo’er’s identity.

And from what had just happened, it was obvious that Luo’er’s mother cared deeply about him. In her eyes, Luo’er was even more important than the throne of Ilanadale, which she found unimaginable.

Moreover, Luo’er didn’t look like a half-Elf at all, sporting a head of black hair. Axia was truly curious about what Luo’er’s father was like.

However, seeing the way Li Si looked, she roughly understood that Luo’er’s father must be like Li Si, an Earthling. In other words, Luo’er was a mix of an Earthling and a Wood Elf.

She just didn’t understand how two people of such different statuses could come together and even have a son.

"Brother Li, I mentioned before about wanting to get Aunt Axia to join the headquarters. What do you think about this..." Luo’er hesitantly said.

"The talents you recruit should certainly be put to use; otherwise, wouldn’t that waste all your efforts? It’s just that..." Li Si glanced at Axia, then shook his head and laughed, "It’s another girl, Luo’er, this won’t do. It seems like you’re only putting girls in the garrison; no wonder Moumou is always so grumpy."

"As long as they are talented, gender doesn’t matter. Don’t make it seem like I’m specifically targeting girls," Luo’er said with a wry smile.

"Anyway, you handle it. As long as they are talented, we will definitely accept them. With the ongoing development of Lipei, we need more talents from Otherworld. Depending solely on Earthlings to establish ourselves in this world is obviously arduous, and moreover, it’s unpopular. The CIA is orchestrating media campaigns daily, proclaiming us as neo-colonialists, putting us in a passive position morally, and even some domestic folks have been misled to oppose the headquarters," Li Si said with a shrug.

"How is the headquarters doing domestically?" Luo’er asked with concern.

"Don’t worry, no one dares to touch the headquarters in the short term, it’s directly under the Ministry of Defense. Once Lipei’s Otherworld Gate opens, everything will get better. Our hard work in investing will pay off, and our reputation will rise significantly. By then, the headquarters’ position will be solid," Li Si consoled.

"That’s good," Luo’er nodded with relief.

"So, getting Lipei’s Otherworld Gate operational is of the utmost importance. You guys are going to Xia Yue Island; we have to go and open the gate. If Miss Axia knows something about Runes, I would sincerely invite her to return with us and join the research team for opening the gate," Li Si said, looking at Axia.

"Me?" Axia paused when she realized she was being watched, then took her eyes off Luo’er and looked up at Li Si.

"I wonder how much Aunt Axia knows about Runes and whether she could join us on the airboat to research the opening mechanism of the Otherworld Gate," Luo’er earnestly asked her.

"Ah, actually, I was thinking about joining you guys for a pilgrimage to Xia Yue Island," Axia smiled and said.

"Um... in that case, never mind. A gentleman shouldn’t deprive others of their wishes," Luo’er scratched his head and said.

"But if you ask, I can make concessions. After all, any time is good for a pilgrimage, and there’s no rush," Axia smiled and said.

"Really? Can you do that?" Luo’er asked with surprise.
