Chapter 1072: Chapter 1065: Reunion After a Long Separation

Hearing his words, Axia, who was still in shock, gave him a strange look, then let out a deep sigh, and nodded slightly. Hu Daoke finally breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing Axia’s response.

It was no wonder that there had been internal disputes within the Advance Team about going to Xia Yue Island, no wonder they had been so secretive about Luo’er’s identity, even going to the extent of openly speaking the language of the Otherworld to ensure that Luo’er’s identity remained concealed.

It turned out that everything was because Luo’er’s identity was simply too astonishing. At the very least, it shocked her, an Elf who had lived for hundreds of years.

Elf Princess, Earth mixed-breed—when these words were combined, they always gave Axia an inexplicable sense of discomfort. She was puzzled, if Luo’er’s identity was so distinguished, why would he be running around for an Earth organization?

No, that’s not right!

Axia shook her head slightly, rejecting her previous thought.

Ilanadale, or rather the Wood Elves, were the most conservative and the most resistant to mixed heritage. Even if Luo’er was of Earth mixed heritage, it would not be enough to quell the Wood Elves’ opposition to him.

What obviously should have happened was that Luo’er’s mother had abandoned Luo’er, and then she could resume being the Princess of Ilanadale. Otherwise, she would not have been able to return to Divine Wood Down anyhow.

But this brought up a question—if Luo’er had indeed been abandoned by his mother, on what grounds had he returned to Divine Wood Down? Could it be in the name of this Earth organization referred to as headquarters?

Axia stood quietly in front of the French windows, watching the Wood Elves bustling on the dock. Tangmo and Baiyue were the first to run down, then charged towards Nina without any barriers and hugged her without any reservations.

Nina did not repel them but instead squinted her eyes, smiling and caressing their heads, her smile full of tenderness, her gaze like that of a mother looking at her children.

"Mom, we’ve been to the Snow Domain during this time," Tangmo leaned against Nina’s embrace and said, seeking praise.

"Is that so? That must have been tough. But I’m actually envious, you got to see snow. It’s been almost decades since I’ve seen snow," Nina said, letting out a gentle sigh.

"Did mom see snow before?" Tangmo blinked and asked curiously, looking up.

"Yes, when I was in the Northern part," Nina said, her eyes narrowing slightly as she reminisced about the past, her thoughts instantly filled with nostalgia, "In that valley, there was snow, there was me, there was Luo’er, and also, his father..."

"Uh..." It seemed as though they had touched on a painful subject for Nina, leaving Tangmo and Baiyue looking at each other not knowing what to do, but then Tangmo comfortingly said, "Well then, once Lipei is built up, we should invite mom to stay there for a while, with Luo’er and us."

"That would be wonderful," Nina’s face bloomed into a radiant smile once more.

Watching her face light up with a smile again, Tangmo and Baiyue were mesmerized. To speak the truth, although the Elf Race was known for their beauty, Nina had to be acknowledged as the most charming Elf they had ever seen.

While it is often said that the student surpasses the master, in Tangmo and others’ view, although Luo’er was indeed stunning, when it came to the overall assessment of demeanor, Nina, being a Princess, was on a higher level than Luo’er. If Luo’er were considered a peerless beauty, then Nina was truly like a celestial maiden descending to earth.

The two entangled themselves with Nina until the people following disembarked from the Airboat, one after another greeting Nina. Li Si approached Nina, looking at Tangmo and Baiyue and could not help but shake his head and sigh, then respectfully said, "It’s an honor that the Princess herself has come to welcome us."

"Mr. Li Si, there’s no need to be so formal," Nina nodded slightly, her demeanor graceful and composed.

After briefly greeting Nina, Li Si did not speak further because it was evident to anyone with eyes that the Princess, Nina, had come to the dock not particularly to welcome him but to meet her beloved son.

"Please, come to my abode to rest," Nina graciously said to Li Si.

"Thank you," Li Si nodded, then followed the guidance of other Elves, walking towards Divine Wood Down.

Cheng Ziang followed closely behind Li Si, glanced back at Tangmo and Baiyue, and then called out in a low voice, "You two, come here!"

Tangmo gave him a glare, and although dissatisfied, she let go of Nina along with Baiyue, knowing it was prudent to do so. They were aware that Nina clearly wanted to spend time alone with Luo’er.

Hu Daoke walked ahead of Luo’er and when he came up to Nina, the burly man, tall and towering, greeted her with a trace of shrinkage, "Godmother, long time no see."

"Long time no see, go rest."

Luo’er slowly approached Nina, and as she looked at her son whom she hadn’t seen in almost a year, her eyes were already moist. Ignoring the onlookers, she took the initiative to open her arms.

"Mom!" Luo’er gently leaned on Nina’s shoulder, was embraced by her, and then softly called out.

"Mommy misses you so much." Nina closed her eyes and sincerely said.

She really liked the way Luo’er called her. She had said before that Luo’er called her "mommy," using the pronunciation in Chinese, not Tasta or even Elvish.

Luoya liked to call her mother, in the Tasta language, but she was not very satisfied with that appellation. She hoped her daughter would also call her "mommy," using the Chinese pronunciation.

The reason for this fixation was mainly that the term "mommy" was taught to Luo’er by Luo Chuan. As Nina’s cherished love of her life, Luo Chuan’s influence on her was profoundly deep. If it weren’t for her children Luo’er and Luoya, she might have followed him in death on the day she heard of Luo Chuan’s passing.

"Almost a year, and you didn’t come to see Mommy," Nina chided softly.

"Sorry, your son is unfilial," Luo’er said guiltily.

"Alright, don’t feel so guilty, Mommy knows you’re busy. Luoya visited not long ago, so Mommy hasn’t been that lonely," Nina released Luo’er and, while straightening out his clothes, spoke to him.

"How is Luoya doing?" Luo’er asked.

"You two siblings loved to quarrel on normal days, but when you can’t see each other, you worry about one another." Nina shook her head and said.

"As her brother, naturally I don’t have to be so petty with her," Luo’er stated earnestly.

"That earnest demeanor of yours doesn’t resemble your father at all," Nina said, her gaze suddenly becoming somber.

"Mom, I’ll come to see you more often in the future, don’t be so sad..." Luo’er took Nina’s hand and softly comforted her.

"If you guys are busy with your own things, that’s fine. As long as Mommy knows you’re doing well, she won’t be so sad," Nina said.

"But, you know..." Nina gently brushed the dust off Luo’er’s shoulder, then squinted at him and said with a smile, "When will you start thinking about your marriage? Mommy has been looking forward to it."

"Mom," Luo’er’s face turned red with embarrassment, and he said discontentedly with his head down, "Why are you doing this too..."

"Mommy knows you’re shy; how about I choose for you?" Nina pushed on teasingly.

"Mom..." Luo’er called out again, discontentedly.

"Alright, alright, you decide for yourself," Nina patted his head and shook it, saying, "The matters of you young people should be left to you to decide. They are all good girls; don’t let them down."

"I know..." Luo’er replied, sounding less sure of himself, his ears already turned beet red.

On the airboat, Axia squinted her eyes watching the interaction between Nina and Luo’er, finding it unbelievable. If Nina had truly given up on Luo’er, how could she, as a princess, dare to interact so intimately with Luo’er in public? If word of this spread to the ears of the other Wood Elves, it would surely provoke public anger.

Nina, as a princess of a nation, was widely scrutinized for her actions. It was said that all of Nina’s brothers and sisters had passed away, leaving only Nina as the sole heir of Queen of Ilanadale. If nothing unexpected happened, Nina would inherit the throne once the Queen passed. Under these circumstances, Nina should be even more cautious to avoid attracting attention and stirring unnecessary controversy.

So Axia couldn’t understand, no matter how much she thought about it, why Nina dared to be so intimate with Luo’er in public.
