Chapter 1037: Chapter 1030: From the East Continent
"Luo’er!" At this moment, Baiyue, carrying a sniper rifle on her back, rushed toward Luo’er from a distance.
"Well done." Looking at Baiyue who had arrived in front of him, Luo’er praised her with a smile.
Hearing his praise, Baiyue glanced at him, then turned to look at the man before saying resentfully, "If it weren’t for your orders, I really would have liked to blow his head off with a single shot!"
"It’s good that you didn’t, that’s why I trust you so much." Luo’er consoled her with a smile.
Baiyue rolled her eyes at him, then lowered her head and said with a tinge of bitterness, "You always like to debase yourself. Things like this could be done by someone else. There’s no need to devalue yourself like this..."
"What do you mean by debasing myself? It was just playing a part for the situation. To be honest, I quite enjoy this feeling of playing the pig to catch the tiger," Luo’er said with a shrug and a smile.
Baiyue nodded slightly and then turned to look at the man before turning back to ask, "He’s like this now, so he should be under control, right?"
"His Dantian and both hands have been destroyed. I think he should be unable to use magic," Luo’er said.
"I feel like bullets don’t really affect him. How about we give him a stab in the belly?" Baiyue suggested, her gaze turning sharp as she looked back at Luo’er.
"Hey hey hey, don’t do that. Another stab would kill him. We still need to extract information from him," Luo’er interjected.
By this time, the villagers had already arrived at the clearing under the leadership of Hu Daoke and began looking around for sacks, preparing to fill them with sand to block the breach made by the man.
"Yue’er, go tie him up. After Moumou stops the bleeding, we’ll take him to an empty house and lock him up. We’ll have the opportunity to interrogate him later and see what his relationship with Feng is," Luo’er said, turning to Baiyue as he looked at the unconscious man.
"Yes!" Baiyue nodded and then went forward.
"Luo’er..." After arranging everything, Luo’er, who had relaxed slightly, suddenly heard Fulajie’er’s voice in his mind.
"What’s wrong?" Luo’er asked, puzzled.
"Little Fengye seems to be in trouble. Cheng Ziang is carrying her back," Fulajie’er’s words caused Luo’er’s heart to tighten involuntarily, and his voice began to tremble.
"What, what, what happened..." Luo’er asked, somewhat panicked.
"Don’t worry, she’s not dead. She just seems to be in a lot of pain," Fulajie’er quickly explained.
"You scared me to death..." Luo’er said, breathing a sigh of relief.
"Sorry, I didn’t make it clear," Fulajie’er said with a hint of guilt.
"Let it go, it’s not that big of a deal. I’ll go take a look," Luo’er waved his hand and then stood up to run toward the breach.
As he reached the breach, he bumped into Cheng Ziang, who was carrying Feng into the room, and asked with concern, "Is Feng alright?"
Huddled in Cheng Ziang’s arms, Feng’s brow was deeply furrowed, her forehead covered in cold sweat. She bit her teeth and clutched her chest, letting out a severely suppressed cry, breaking Luo’er’s heart to hear it.
"She seems to have been hit by that man’s technique. Have Moumou come over quickly and see what’s wrong," Cheng Ziang said with a serious face.
Hearing his words, Luo’er looked at the pained Feng, then turned his head to look at Tangmo, who was stopping the man’s bleeding. He gritted his teeth and said to Cheng Ziang, "Carry her to the bed; I’ll have Yue’er take a look first."
Cheng Ziang glanced at Tangmo, then looked back at Luo’er, understanding his intentions. He nodded and said, "Alright, as long as you know what you’re doing!"
With that, he carried the curling Feng in his arms and dashed toward the house.
Although he was worried about Feng, Luo’er believed Feng probably wasn’t in any serious trouble, because from her conversation with the man, it could be heard that the man wanted to capture Feng alive, not take away a dead body. From their conversation, it seemed that the man even had some respect for Feng, so Luo’er thought the man hadn’t dealt her a fatal blow.
As for what exactly had happened to her, that wasn’t something Luo’er could resolve. If it was an injury, then Baiyue could take a look, and if it was a magic problem, Tangmo could examine it. Luo’er wasn’t skilled in either of those areas. After all, as the Captain, his most important job was to command and dispatch.
After a series of troubles, by noon, everything had been basically arranged. The gap in the fence had been blocked, and the village chief was organizing villagers to collect the bodies from the battlefield, while also arranging for people to cut down trees to repair the wobbly part of the wall.
On the Advance Team’s side, the man had been stopped from bleeding by Tangmo and then locked up. It was unclear whether it was out of malice or not, but the bullet inside his stomach hadn’t been removed before his wound was closed by Tangmo, suggesting that they didn’t intend to let him live long.
Of course, there was also a reason to restrain this man. After all, his magic was concentrated in his Dantian. If it was repaired and he absorbed magic again, that would become troublesome.
After Cheng Ziang brought Feng to the bed, Baiyue and Tangmo arrived one after another to treat her, but no matter what, they couldn’t figure out what was wrong with her.
Feng, who was sleeping in bed, seemed to be in less pain now, and her breathing was smooth. From the recent probing, Tangmo keenly noticed that when magic was directed to certain parts of her body, it caused her great pain, but other specific parts were unharmed when magic was applied.
After observing and summarizing, Tangmo found that when magic was applied to Feng’s upper body, it caused her immense pain, whereas applying magic to her lower body did not. That meant, the main focus of her condition was on her upper body.
The group in the room racked their brains but still couldn’t find the cause of the illness. Just as they were growing impatient, the door to the room opened and the Taran siblings supported Captain Feron as they walked in.
"Grandfather..." Baiyue called out first upon seeing Feron appear.
"Hey, keep it down, don’t wake her up," Feron gestured with his hand and then pointed at Feng.
"Does the Chief have something to say?" noticing Feron’s hesitant expression, Luo’er took the initiative to ask.
"Let’s talk outside," Feron suggested quietly after looking around.
"All right," Luo’er nodded and motioned for everyone to leave Feng’s room, leaving only Axia and Eve to look after her.
Once in the hall, Feron sat at the dining table, sighing repeatedly, as if reflecting on something. After a long hesitation, he sighed deeply and then looked at Luo’er saying, "If it hadn’t been for what happened today, I was already prepared to take this secret to the grave and not pass it on. But since he has also appeared now, I think I should say something."
"A secret?" Luo’er asked.
"Yes, a secret, concerning our village, our secret," Feron said, closing his eyes and bowing his head.
After another long silence, he slowly lifted his head and looked at Luo’er, saying, "Actually, that girl in the room and the man you caught today, they, they are both from the Human Race of the East Continent..."
"The East Continent?!" Hearing this term, everyone present was instantly shocked.
"Yes, that’s right, the East Continent," Feron nodded and then continued, "To the east of this continent, there is an even larger continent. That girl and that man, they are from the Human Race of that continent, and they are our enemies..."
"Centuries ago, our tribespeople were defeated in the war against the Human Race. We were forced to flee the East Continent, moving westward, until we finally arrived at this unfamiliar West Continent. Fortunately, the people of the East Continent did not pursue us, allowing us to catch our breath on the West Continent and settle down here. For us, the East Continent and the Human Race are nightmares that have plagued our people for centuries..."
"Indeed, the scientists from Earth were right in their conjectures; the Sub-beastmen truly do not belong to this continent..." Luo’er and Cheng Ziang exchanged glances, shaking their heads in amazement.
"Then, how did you get to the Western Continent, with the Leviathans in the sea?" Cheng Ziang asked the question that was on everyone’s mind.
Feron pointed to the ceiling and said, "We came flying through the sky."
"Does the East Continent also have Airboats?" Luo’er asked in surprise.
"No, not Airboats. It’s a creature, a very large animal, we, we call it, the Kunzhou..." Feron said shaking his head.
