Chapter 64: Chapter 64 Loser Has To Crawl Into The Audience

However, the room was too noisy for anyone to hear Zoe’s timid and low voice.

Just when she was about to speak up louder, the announcer walked out from the backstage to speak to the winners of the contest.

"The winners, please do well to drop your account details before you leave. The prize money will be sent to all five of you first thing tomorrow."

Then he went back inside.

As soon as he did, three of Kelsie’s teammates rushed forward to drop their bank account details.

As they walked back, they heard Laura’s teammates assuring her.

"This contest was rigged. I don’t care what anyone says, but I know Kelsie did something to win."

"I agree. There’s just no way she would’ve won this contest without resorting to underhanded methods."

"Even though no one is saying it, you should know every one of us thinks that. We all know how hard you worked for the task while she idled around."

"One of the sponsors must’ve had her back for sure. New computers? Totally bullshit! She must’ve installed a backdoor to help her beforehand! I’m sure of it!"

Kelsie’s three teammates stopped in front of them and tutted pitifully.

"All that talk for coming third place in Silicon Valley last year only to lose to someone you called a noob? Who’s the noob now?"

"Of course you’d all say our team leader cheated to win. Your fragile ego must be wounded seeing how your team leader fairly lost to our team leader!"

"Instead of badmouthing her, you should go beg her to teach you one or two so you can get better. It’s clear staying with this Laura Sutton hasn’t done you any good."

Laura’s teammates couldn’t exactly refute the words of the last skinny guy in Kelsie’s team.

Laura was only fixated in learning new things and never shared it with any of them. Hence, they could only try to keep up with her whenever they caught her coding or programming.

Upon hearing that Kelsie could teach them one or two things, their eyes lit up happily and they temporarily forgot whose team they were on.

Meanwhile...

Smack!

"Ouch!" The skinny guy suddenly yelped in pain when the girl beside him smacked him on his neck.

She then glared at him and hissed angrily. "Why would you invite them to our team? Don’t you know they’ll be in trouble if they leave their team leader’s side?"

"I see. But did you have to hit me so hard?" The man groaned, gently massaging the back of side of his neck that was hit.

Laura didn’t have the cheek to face them anymore and pushed her chair backward.

As soon as she rose to her feet, Zoe’s timid voice rang out again. This time, she was louder.

"You can’t leave. Didn’t you say you’d crawl out into the audience if you lost to Kelsie?"

Outside, the reporters and media outlets who were preparing to leave immediately sat down back, turning on their cameras once again. freeweb\n(o)v.e\l.com

Laura was taken aback by the sudden reminder and gritted her teeth in rage before lashing out at her.

"What does that have to do with you? Kelsie forgot it. Why do I have to do it..."

Sudden, Kelsie’s coldly interrupted her.

"I did forget. But you seem to have remembered, yet you were getting ready to leave."

"You were trying to run away just now without fulfilling your words. A hacker who goes back on her word, can that person really be trusted?"

Laura was instantly infuriated by her words and didn’t know when she blurted out in defense, "Who said I was running away?!"

The corners of Kelsie’s lips curled up in amusement.

"Oh, you weren’t? I could’ve sworn getting up and turning towards the exit is a sign somsone is preparing to leave."

"But I’m willing to put that behind me. I’m also willing to put every other condition you mentioned earlier behind me. As long as you crawl into the audience, I won’t hold what happened here against you."

Hearing her, a flash of panic flashed past Laura’s eyes as it flickered to the numerous cameras outside the room.

Kelsie was supposed to be a noob who didn’t know much about programming. So she made such a careless promise.

But now that she lost, how could a proud person like her who cared about her image more than anything bring herself to crawl out into the audience?

But if she refused to, it would certainly be the trending news by the time she woke up tomorrow.

She gripped the side of her dress tightly, frantically thinking of what to defend herself with.

After several seconds of silence, she raised her eyes to meet Kelsie’s and forced on a smile, "Whatever dispute we have with each other, we should settle in private."

"So even if you insist that I apologize to you, then I will. Just not in public like this. Otherwise, we will be harming the Sutton family’s reputation."

Kelsie dramatically gasped, hands flying to cover her mouth in disbelief.

"That is an odd thing to hear you say. I seem to remember you’ve spent the past three hours to ridiculing me for my lack of skills."

"You spoke so loudly that everyone heard you. Why didn’t you think of the Sutton family’s reputation then?"

Blood instantly drained from Laura’s face as Kelsie pointed out her hypocrisy and she didn’t know how to defend herself.

The third girl on Kelsie’s group scoffed loudly at this moment, "What? You don’t want to do it? You’re free to leave then."

"Tomorrow, the whole world will see that you’re not a trust worthy person. I mean, if you can’t carry out a promise you made to your sister, why should anyone trust you with a job?"

Kelsie glanced at the time on her wristwatch before she pushed her chair backward and got up.

Turning towards the exit where the cameras were, she lowered her eyes to the floor and began making her way there.

Seeing that she wasn’t relenting and really fearing for her reputation, Laura hurriedly dropped to her knees and began crawling after her.
