Chapter 139: Chapter 120 Angel’s Trial_2

Solamus was the closest to God, and on the day of completion, the Great Angel approached the throne.

"God,"

"Shall we take a look?"

"Look at the heavens and earth we have created!"

...

Chen Yi and Solamus went to the world created jointly by the Great Angels.

This world was incredibly magnificent, containing all sorts of treasures and bizarre sights; dreamlike scenes presented themselves in each corner.

From the mountains flowed lava, yet when it fell into the water, it transformed into glittering frankincense. The trees were laden with fruit, not green or red, but delicate golden apples which, when bitten into, granted eternal youth.

Melodious music arose with the steps of God and Solamus; the Divine Angels played carefree in this world, never tiring.

Here was a world that could be seen only in fairy tales, some Angels constructed castles from the clouds, enacting games of rescuing princesses; lively fish swam in the rivers, some Angels leisurely enjoyed fishing, reveling in the joy of a catch; some Angels climbed the distant icebergs, where thousands of ice sculptures formed a magnificent wonder, feathers adorning the expansive white landscape.

There was a lake where, if one casually tossed in a caterpillar, it would instantly transform into a whale in the water, merrily spouting streams.

There was a sea of flowers that, on one day, burgeoned with brilliant golden tulips, and on the next day, tulips would turn into roses, their varied beauty stunning and enchanting.

In this piece of heaven and earth, there was an endless number of wonderful things.

The eight Great Angels, using their imaginations and with the power of God, created this dreamlike heaven and earth.

Solamus, while showing God every beautiful sight, walked with God to a high place in this world.

"God,"

"Look at this world,"

"This is our Angels’ gift to you, insignificant compared to your radiance, yet it is our most beautiful creation in this life."

God extended a hand, gently caressing Solamus’s cheek.

"Solamus, your creation is so beautiful."

Receiving God’s praise, Solamus was extremely happy.

Solamus, lifting his face, spoke joyfully yet humbly:

"God,"

"The beauty of the Angels, even when combined, cannot compare to You."

"We are made by You, like the water surface under the sun, and we merely reflect Your brilliance."

Chen Yi, hearing this, softly said:

"Solamus, tell me, how did you create this world?"

Solamus paused, then quickly, the Angel closest to God, understood God’s meaning.

The Angel drew near to God and slowly shared with God how they had created this world.

The creation of this world was of course not without challenges; the Angel recounted the difficulties they encountered and how they overcame them, and then, upon first witnessing success, how the Angels felt a profound sense of achievement and joy.

Solamus shared the Angels’ memories with Chen Yi; regardless of the frustrations or setbacks they faced, now it all became a part of pleasant memories; during the creation of the world, the Angels experienced unparalleled joy.

After saying all this, Solamus blushed, feeling inexplicably bashful.

It was like a child recounting their achievements, and after a moment of pride, feeling embarrassed.

The Angel looked towards God, realizing that what they had shared, whether trials or smooth sailing, whether despair or joy, might all seem trivial to God.

Solamus knew that to the eternal Divine, in this world, many things were without meaning.

God said nothing, only gently stroking Solamus’s soft, pale-golden hair, listening to the Angel’s joy, tenderly comforting the Angel’s heart.

Suddenly, Solamus said softly:

"God..."

"How about we take this world we’ve created to the people of the Mortal World?"

Chen Yi looked at Solamus, seeing his beautiful face adorned with determination.

God asked softly:

"Solamus, are you not afraid of encountering something like Maisy?"

Solamus shook his head and replied:

"I’ve thought a lot about Maisy."

"In the end, it was because Maisy appeared before everyone in the form of a mortal."

"He seemed like a test, testing everyone’s human nature."

"Oh?"

Solamus spoke faster, then continued,

"God, we shall not do that again, unless necessary; we won’t test everyone’s human nature.

At most, at most... at most we’ll test just one person, to see if he is kindhearted and upright.

If he passes the test,

we shall reward him with what he deserves."

Solamus poured out his thoughts to God, becoming more resolute as he spoke, solidifying an idea that initially lacked conviction.

"We angels... will become a beautiful legend passed down from mouth to mouth among the people,

like a faint flame, a small beacon.

Even if it seems insignificant at ordinary times, it may become the only light in the endless darkness."

Chen Yi listened quietly.

He neither encouraged nor rebutted.

God spoke softly,

"Whatever you wish to do, go ahead."

..........

The eight Great Angels, having been personally crafted by God, thus possessed a part of God’s memory.

After Solamus recounted to the seven Great Angels all that had happened not long ago, they all found it very feasible.

Solamus’ proposal perfectly solved the angels’ dilemma.

They hoped to please God once more, but dared not descend to the Mortal World themselves.

After discussing for dozens of days without finding a solution, they had grown somewhat disheartened and even considered giving up altogether.

But Solamus’ proposal reignited their fighting spirit.

God was pleased, and naturally, the angels hoped to please Him even more.

So, they unanimously agreed upon Solamus’ decision, and began designing the angels’ trials—trials that must test one’s will, wisdom, and courage...

The angels cheered for each clever design, proudly admiring their brilliant inspirations.

Solamus organized and arranged the trials to interconnect tightly, linking one to another, until finally, he confirmed the rewards that would follow the trials.

United in their efforts, the eight Great Angels opened the gateway between dreams and the outer world, delivering the trial from God’s realm to the earth below.

..........

It was unclear from which day it began, but a beautiful legend about angels slowly started to circulate among the people on earth.

It is said that in some dense forest or in the oasis of a vast desert, anyone who accidentally enters might encounter an Angel’s trial.

No one will tell you when the trial starts, nor when it ends.

People will face trials of will, wisdom, courage, kindness, and more.

Some trials are fraught with danger, while others seem leisurely and simple,

and the most wondrous of all is that whether or not you pass a trial could hinge upon a single thought.

In that moment, if you choose incorrectly, then you can only depart in disappointment, bidding farewell to the trial.

And at the end of the trial,

those who withstand it will come to a dreamlike realm.

There, filled with brilliant ideas and joy,

it’s as if it were crafted by the hands of angels themselves.

People passed down this legend by word of mouth, Poets composed beautiful verses about it, Craftsmen tirelessly created jewelry in its image, Children exaggeratedly spread the tale.

The Angel’s trial.

It became synonymous with a wonderful journey.

People used it to bless travelers about to set off on a journey, hoping they would embark on a beautiful path.

Perhaps, amongst countless farewells and numerous travelers stepping forth, there might be one who, as hoped, encounters the Angel’s trial.
