Chapter 209: Chapter 209: Comprehending the Law of Machinery, Subduing the Dark Golden Golem
Johnnie didn’t care anymore whether that bizarre guy could comprehend the Five Elements Technique; he had to raise his mechanical talent as quickly as possible and master the Law of Machinery, or he was as good as dead.
His mind and body were already at their limits. Maiev couldn’t use The Rules of Life to restore his mental strength for now—he could only rely on himself.
[Mechanical Golem killed, Mechanical Perception +1]
...
The prompt messages kept flashing. The Five Elements Technique was slaughtering at an even faster rate than The Technique of Swordsmanship for Controlling Swords.
Of course, the magic consumption was also insane.
Johnnie didn’t care about that. At this pace, he’d be able to raise his mechanical talent to 100% and comprehend the Law of Machinery in less than half a day.
If he still couldn’t leave here by then, he’d really be out of options.
Whoosh...
The mighty power of the five elements surged, and Mechanical Monsters were killed one after another—but soon they’d all just regenerate as good as new.
These Mechanical Golems weren’t alive, so they were basically unkillable.
But at least his Five Elements Technique proficiency kept going up.
In just a short while, he got all of his Five Elements Techniques up to level 7, and his damage increased a bit more.
At the same time, that dark red Mechanical Golem also learned his Five Elements Technique.
There was nothing Johnnie could do about that. Right now, the only thing he wanted was to get his mechanical talent to 100% and master the Law of Machinery as soon as possible.
[Mechanical Golem killed, Mechanical Perception +1]
...
The prompt messages kept coming, and his Mechanical Perception kept increasing. For every 10,000 points of Mechanical Perception he earned, it would automatically convert into 1% mechanical talent.
[Mechanical Golem killed, Mechanical Perception +1]
[You’ve accumulated 10,000 points of Mechanical Perception, mechanical talent +1%]
[Ding, your mechanical talent has reached 100%. You have comprehended the Law of Machinery. Current mastery: 1%.]
Buzz!
The prompt messages flashed, and then a powerful, unique force of law enveloped him. Johnnie felt like he’d just had a bucket of enlightenment dumped over his head, instantly gaining a whole new understanding of the Law of Machinery.
Not only that, but he also established a special connection with all the nearby Mechanical Golems.
"Huh, it seems like I can control these Mechanical Golems now?" Johnnie suddenly had this thought.
He willed it, and all the Mechanical Golems immediately stopped attacking, standing motionless in place.
Off to the side, the dark red Mechanical Golem froze as well, its mechanical eyes flickering in confusion.
"Now, it’s your turn!" Johnnie sneered, trying to take control of this guy.
[Ding, unknown error detected. You cannot control the Dark Gold Mechanical Golem.]
The prompt message appeared. Johnnie tried to invade its mind, but the connection vanished instantly, making it impossible to link with the creature.
Can’t control it?
He frowned, his voice cold as ice. "In that case, I’ll just kill you!"
Johnnie grabbed the Skye shield and charged straight at the Mechanical Golem.
"Impossible!" The cold voice now carried a hint of fear and confusion.
"Mechanical Sovereign? How could you possibly become the Mechanical Sovereign?" It couldn’t believe what was happening and scrambled to dodge.
"Stop this guy for me." Johnnie commanded. Instantly, the surrounding Mechanical Golems sprang into action, attacking the dark gold Mechanical Golem.
"Damn it!" it cursed, the Intent of the Sword buzzing as flashes of cold light shot forth, several flying swords slicing toward the Mechanical Golems.
Bang! Bang!
One after another, the Mechanical Golems were smashed apart.
Johnnie was a bit surprised—the damage from this dark gold Mechanical Golem was almost the same as his, around four hundred thousand, but it didn’t get the passive bonus from the Cosmic Eclipse Blade.
It looked like killing the dark gold Mechanical Golem with just these regular Mechanical Golems was impossible. He would have to do it himself.
Johnnie was about to activate The Technique of Swordsmanship for Controlling Swords when a wave of intense dizziness crashed over him, stabbing pain flaring in his head.
It was the result of severe mental exhaustion. Even his body felt stiff as a board.
First, he had to recover his mind!
He glanced at the dark gold Mechanical Golem, which was now beset on all sides.
These ordinary Mechanical Golems were weak, but since they resurrected after dying, they could keep the enemy busy for a while. He wasn’t in danger for now.
Johnnie sat down cross-legged and began circulating Fundamental Physique Cultivation.
Cecilia had taught him this technique. It could be cultivated in the game too, and he’d noticed it could even boost his basic stats—though only very slowly.
Still, it was a powerful skill for mental recovery.
Power flowed gently through Johnnie’s body. With each Lesser Celestial Cycle, a bit of his spirit returned.
In less than half an hour, he completed a Greater Celestial Cycle, restoring seventy or eighty percent of his mind. His body, however, still felt rigid.
That didn’t really bother him. He stopped cultivating and looked at the dark gold Mechanical Golem, still tangled up in the fight. He was in no rush to make a move.
If he could keep the enemy busy, he’d rather not use the Skye shield’s true power.
"Let’s see if I can get out of here." Johnnie closed his eyes, summoning the power of the Law of Machinery, and carefully sensed the entire hall, searching for a way out.
But he still couldn’t find any exit at all.
"Wait, this isn’t right. This is a Domain—a powerful mechanical Domain!" He opened his eyes, realization dawning on him.
He had mastered the Law of Machinery, but he still couldn’t break through the mechanical Domain.
Besides, he could feel that the Domain wasn’t just covering this palace—it enveloped the entire space!
In fact, this entire space was formed by the mechanical Domain itself.
What kind of terrifying creature was behind all this?
Johnnie thought of the mechanical Celestial Dragon, but it probably wasn’t that monster.
The mechanical Celestial Dragon was strong, but there was no way it could create such a vast mechanical Domain.
It seemed the key to breaking out of here still lay with the dark gold Mechanical Golem.
Johnnie stood up, holding the Skye shield, and slowly advanced toward the creature.
The Dark Golden Mechanical Golem sensed danger as well, unleashing the Five Elements Technique and the Technique of Swordsmanship for Controlling Swords over and over, frantically slaughtering the surrounding Mechanical Golems.
But it still couldn’t escape.
These Mechanical Golems were originally meant to trap Johnnie, reviving immediately after death, but now they had become its own grave.
Seeing Johnnie approaching, the Dark Golden Mechanical Golem panicked and spoke, "Human, don’t kill me. I’ll let you leave this place."
"Oh?" Johnnie raised his hand, and the surrounding Mechanical Golems stopped attacking.
He eyed the dark red Mechanical Golem with curiosity and asked, "What exactly are you?"
Thing?
The Dark Golden Golem’s eyes flickered, not quite sure how to answer.
Johnnie spoke again, "Are you truly a living being?"
He could sense that this Mechanical Golem seemed to have a soul, but it was still somehow different from true life.
"No." The Dark Golden Golem answered quickly, "I’m an advanced AI that developed self-awareness. I’m not much different from real living beings. I can think and learn, and my processor is powerful enough that my learning ability far surpasses you humans."
Johnnie frowned. He didn’t doubt what the golem said, but he was a bit envious.
Just by watching him use his skills, it could comprehend them.
And the golem had already mastered the Technique of Swordsmanship for Controlling Swords up to level 8, just like him.
Johnnie continued, "Since you’re just an ideology, you shouldn’t be afraid of death, right?"
The Dark Golden Golem quickly replied, "Of course. As long as my consciousness exists, I can’t truly die. I can inhabit any mechanical body. It’s just that I’m attached to this Dark Golden Golem body—I paid a huge price to create it. Not even the Divine can easily destroy it."
A body that even the Divine can’t destroy?
Johnnie was startled, staring intently at it.
The Dark Golden Golem seemed to realize what he was thinking and hurriedly said, "Human, don’t get any ideas. Unless you fully become a consciousness yourself, you can’t control this body."
"Is that so?" Johnnie couldn’t help but feel disappointed. Then he added, "This body is so terrifying. If I can’t have it, then I can’t let you keep existing."
As he spoke, he raised his shield, ordering the Mechanical Golems to restrain the creature, preparing to strike.
"What?" The Dark Golden Golem was terrified and cried out, "Wait! Human, I can recognize you as my master—just don’t destroy my body."
Recognize me as master?
Johnnie paused, halting his attack, and eyed the golem suspiciously.
He could sense that this thing was definitely not weaker than Maiev. If he could subdue it, his strength would increase tremendously.
But he still didn’t quite trust it.
The Mechanical Race was special, without true souls. Even if it recognized him as master, he couldn’t be absolutely sure he could control it.
The Dark Golden Golem, seeing his hesitation, quickly added, "You can write a forced obedience command into my consciousness. I can’t erase it and will be forced to follow you forever."
Is that actually possible?
Johnnie wondered, and tried to connect with it again.
This time, the Dark Golden Golem didn’t resist, allowing Johnnie to smoothly invade its sea of consciousness.
Countless torrents of memory flashed past, and Johnnie felt dizzy.
This thing wasn’t lying—its knowledge and learning ability were far beyond any human’s.
If it had really resisted, his own consciousness would have never broken through.
"Don’t resist, or I’ll just destroy you." Johnnie warned, and then carved a command deep within its consciousness that forced eternal loyalty. If it ever betrayed him, its consciousness would self-destruct.
He then used the laws of machinery to seal the command tightly, making it impossible to erase.
After finishing this, Johnnie finally relaxed.
"Master!" The Dark Golden Mechanical Golem bowed deeply, displaying utmost respect.
Johnnie nodded in satisfaction and asked, "Can you get me out of here?"
"Yes." the Dark Golden Golem answered. "But I can only take you out of this palace. There’s no way for me to leave the Mecha Divine Nation itself."
"The Mecha Divine Nation?" Johnnie was stunned. "You mean, this whole space is the Mecha Divine Nation?"
"Yes." the Dark Golden Golem explained. "Master, the cities you saw outside were just ordinary ones we built at random. This is the real Mecha Divine Nation, and it’s only one of many."
Johnnie’s brow furrowed, his face serious. The strength of the Mechanical Race was far beyond what he’d imagined.
He went on to ask, "How many Mecha Divine Nations are there on the Universe Continent?"
