Chapter 268 - 268 267 The Late-Arriving Guardian Beast

268: Chapter 267: The Late-Arriving Guardian Beast 268: Chapter 267: The Late-Arriving Guardian Beast Su Ran walked in front of the platform, watching the remaining yellow and red buttons pulsing under his gaze, his heart was alight with excitement.

Pressing the green button had easily gifted him a slew of equipment.

If he pressed the yellow one, would he get legendary Skill Books and the like?

Or maybe some immortal pills and herbs?

Once the idea took hold, it was like an addiction.

Lost in his thoughts, he was trembling with excitement.

He knew it could be dangerous, but he had already tasted the sweetness of success.

How could he just give up such a great opportunity?

No way!

Su Ran steadied his racing heart, his eyes glittered with determination.

Without hesitation, he slammed his hand down on the yellow button.

“Boom!”

The hidden door of the equipment vault closed instantly, and a second hidden door opened not far away.

Like before, darkness poured from within it.

Who could guess what lay inside?

Was it danger, or opportunity?

“Buddha bless me, let me find Skill Manuscripts!

All I want is Bone Techniques!”

Su Ran murmured to himself, the Bone Soul Ghost Fire in his eyeholes burning intensely, revealing his rising excitement and anticipation.

Filled with expectation, Su Ran approached the dark gate.

Just as before, he tossed a small purple flame inside.

Suddenly, a pillar of fire erupted, illuminating everything to its last corner.

“Huh?

Why is there just a small pool of green liquid inside?

Where are the Skill Books they mentioned?

What’s going on?

Could it be that the liquid hides some kind of divine treasure?”

Su Ran was confused.

Always one to trust his instincts, he didn’t rush inside.

After all, fortune and misfortune are two sides of the same coin; the system wouldn’t just give away treasures without some kind of challenge.

Well, except for the equipment vault he just found.

Suddenly.

A powerful force smashed into Su Ran’s back.

Caught off-guard, he was violently thrown back, crashing deep into the secret chamber, nearly landing headfirst in the green liquid pool.

A sneak attack!

There was a foe here!

Su Ran broke out into a cold sweat.

Startled, he quickly got up, ignoring his rapidly dwindling HP, and turned to face his attacker.

Uh…

Su Ran froze at the sight.

The one who had attacked him was the very same glass cover he had tossed aside earlier…

Damn it!

Even the glass cover had turned into a monster?!

“Boom~”

Just as the glass dome hopped on, the hidden door closed automatically, fitting into the wall seamlessly, leaving no trace of a possible opening.

“What a jinx I am!”

Su Ran cursed himself.

If it wasn’t bad enough jinxing the fact that there might not be any Boss guarding the treasuries, he also predicted that the door would close, and it did!

He could only hope this strange glass dome monster wasn’t too formidable.

The sooner he finished it off, the sooner he could leave.

“You despicable intruder, did you steal all of my master’s equipment?”

Unexpectedly, the glass dome spoke.

Its voice was deep and old, carrying a distinct aura of authority.

Afterwards, it melted into a lustrous shimmering liquid, then reassembled itself into a majestic radiant wolf.

The emergence of the radiant wolf was truly bizarre.

“I’m just passing through, dare I ask, sir, what equipment are you talking about?”

Su Ran feigned confusion and rebutted.

Are you kidding?

There was all that unclaimed gear laying around on the floor, so of course what I pick up is mine!

Why should I accept that it’s your master’s treasured items?

Why don’t you call the cops?!

However, the fact that the Boss could speak probably suggested it was not an easy opponent.

This made Su Ran focus hard as he thought of a countermove, knowing that he was probably trapped in this enclosed space with this beast.

“Playing dumb!”

The radiant wolf shook its head, its fangs pointing straight and gleaming fiercely.

It glared at Su Ran and said, “Humans are such deceitful creatures.

But regardless of whether you admit it or not, once you’re dead, everything will be clear.”

Clear?

Huh, you just want me dead so you can loot my gear, huh?

“Please, sir, may I utter a few last words?

Otherwise, my soul will not rest in peace.” Su Ran deliberately delayed, asking curiously, “You are a formidable being, sir, but why is it that when I pulled you out earlier, I didn’t see anything of the fierce creature you are now?”

“Hmph, It was that damned seal.

Only by pressing this yellow button could I unseal my true form!”

The radiant wolf snarled in anger; the countless years trapped in the seal had nearly driven it mad!

Now, Su Ran understood.

When he had been excitedly collecting all the gear strewn around earlier, there hadn’t even been a single soul to stop him.

It turned out that the guardian beast entrusted to protect the gear was all along sealed away, and he had benefited from the confusion.

He was incredibly grateful that he hadn’t pressed the yellow button too early.

Thinking about it, he felt more and more fortunate.

Oh yeah, why didn’t I throw this strange vase out the window earlier?

Su Ran regretted his missed opportunity.

He paused, then continued questioning the radiant wolf who was still glaring at him, “Sir, there’s one more question I have.

What would happen if I were to press the red button?”

“You’re asking too many questions.”

The radiant wolf was noticeably enraged, and with a mighty leap, he lunged at Su Ran.

“Damn it!

Attacking before the games even begun!

What a cheater!”

Su Ran hastily backed up.

He quickly activated his Bone Technique, Treading on Air, with a few swift steps he was up in the sky, hovering above the secret room, evading the radiant wolf’s fierce lunge.

“You can fly?

You really are lucky!”

Upon missing the first attack, the radiant wolf’s mouth started gathering a cluster of radiant energy.

As it spit it at Su Ran, the energy transformed into a light bullet and raced towards the tiny flying Black Robe Skeleton at break-neck speed.

Upon witnessing this imposing attack, Su Ran frowned.

Backing away hastily, he managed to evade the powerful light bullet.

He ascended a bit more to distance himself further from the Radiant Wolf Boss.

Then after a quick glance, he noticed his Cloning Technique wasn’t greyed out anymore.

Good, he could use it again!

“Magic Technique, Clone!”

Su Ran pointed towards an empty patch not too far from the radiant wolf, a flash of light appearing instantly, the Dark Bone Bear was summoned.

“Roar!”

The Dark Bone Bear just roared, pounded its bare bone chest with both of its claws, and faced the Radiant Wolf Boss.

Group attack skill, Bear Roar Wave!

This was an invisible and insubstantial move, and the Radiant Wolf was caught off-guard by it.

Shaking its dazed head, its fierce eyes flickering in confusion, it attacked the Dark Bone Bear who had attracted its hatred.

It ferociously bit down on the dark beast made purely of bone.

However, the Dark Bone Bear was just Su Ran’s clone, and it didn’t feel pain.

Not the least bit intimidated by the wolf’s bravado, it launched its own Bear Claw Tear attack at the charging Radiant Wolf Boss.
