Chapter 141: Chapter 141: Ryuo Haki

Ryuo Haki was a high-level form of Armament Haki, allowing the user’s Haki to flow outward and penetrate objects, destroying them from within.

It was similar to releasing hidden force, striking from a distance, or even "hitting a cow through a mountain" — it made it easier to bypass an enemy’s defenses and directly attack their vulnerable insides, making it much deadlier in battle.

Without using the power of the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, Redfield was completely suppressed by Shimotsuki Toramaru. When it came down to pure swordsmanship, he truly couldn’t defeat this Daimyo of Ringo.

"Kid, are you trying to deliberately learn how to use Ryuo? If you want to learn, just say it! How am I supposed to know if you don’t speak up? If you want to learn, I’ll teach you!"

Shimotsuki Toramaru’s sword glowed with a soft pink aura of Ryuo Haki, making Redfield wary. First, because even a Logia user like him couldn’t completely negate Haki attacks, and second, he feared that his prized Sword might be destroyed by Ryuo — this sword had once been Brook’s beloved blade! There was no way he could let it be broken.

"Yeah, I want to learn!" Redfield answered seriously.

He put away the Sword and casually grabbed another longsword to continue sparring with Toramaru.

"That’s more like it. There’s nothing wrong with pursuing strength. Besides, I’m happy to teach a swordsmanship genius like you!"

Toramaru began to explain the principles of Ryuo Haki — how to make Haki flow, how to project it, and how to use it to attack and destroy the internal structure of objects.

...

Under Toramaru’s guidance, Redfield quickly picked up the basics. His talent was no worse than Luffy’s; soon, a faint pink layer of Ryuo began to coat his blackened sword.

"Truly a genius! Honestly, I don’t even want you guys to be driven out by Shogun Sukiyaki anymore. Such a perfect opponent!"

Toramaru grew excited — a worthy rival was rare, and these outsiders showed none of the typical Wano reverence for Daimyos. Their fights were fierce and exhilarating.

Redfield’s mastery of Ryuo continued to improve at a rapid pace.

Meanwhile, Shiki the Golden Lion was having a much tougher time. Fugetsu Jinshō, the hefty swordmaster, turned out to be surprisingly agile and launched relentless, heavy attacks in an effort to end the battle quickly.

Shiki had no chance to focus on learning Ryuo. He was forced to go all out just to hold his ground. Frustrated, he finally activated the power of his Float-Float Fruit, making himself much more mobile.

Soaring through the air, Shiki unleashed a barrage of flying slashes, shocking both the Daimyo of Hakumai and the samurai of Wano.

...

"You can fly continuously?! What kind of technique is this?!"

Fugetsu Jinshō exclaimed, wide-eyed. Was this guy some kind of sorcerer? His feet didn’t even move — how could he stay airborne so unnaturally?

"None of your business! I’ve got invisible wings!" Shiki snapped back.

Seeing Redfield already grasp the basics of Ryuo left Shiki feeling a little sour. Was his own talent really inferior? Still, he decided there was no need to stick around learning from this fat Daimyo anymore.

Bursting out with his full strength — and releasing his Conqueror’s Haki — Shiki overwhelmed the crowd. Civilians collapsed en masse, and countless samurai stared in terror at the domineering man flying overhead.

"Is that... the Haki of a king?!" Fugetsu Jinshō gasped, stunned. How could even one of these foreigners’ subordinates wield something the Shogun Sukiyaki himself had never awakened?

"Shiahahaha~! That’s right! This is Conqueror’s Haki — a power one in a million possess! You bumpkins ever heard of it?" Shiki boasted proudly, reveling in their shocked faces. Not even Brook could rein him in.

Shiki’s nature was as fierce and flamboyant as a lion. He lived for moments like this — when all eyes were on him!

...

On the high platform, Shogun Kozuki Sukiyaki’s expression darkened. These outsiders were far stronger than they’d first appeared. They’d been hiding their true power all along. What were they really after?

No — he couldn’t allow this. These outsiders had to be expelled as soon as possible! Any strong foreigner could threaten the Kozuki Clan’s ancient secrets. Leaving them around was an unacceptable risk.

But now... even with three Daimyos, they might not be able to defeat them. And Shimotsuki Token wasn’t strong enough either — not when they still had Brook, a monster stronger than all the rest.

There was only one option: rally all of Wano’s samurai to drive them out. Even if there were casualties, it had to be done. Luckily, the outsiders numbered only a dozen or so.

With tens of thousands of samurai, even one slash per person could reduce them to mincemeat!

...

Before Shiki could unleash another outburst, Ametsuki Maiken — the Daimyo of Udon — was sent flying by a single swing of Whitebeard’s naginata. The shockwave struck mid-air, crushing Maiken and sending him crashing down in a bloody heap.

Sukiyaki’s face turned completely black. That giant... he was even stronger than the Conqueror’s Haki wielder! He had taken down one of Wano’s most powerful Daimyos like it was nothing.

The watching samurai could barely believe it. One of their strongest had been crushed so easily?

Seeing his spotlight stolen, Shiki fumed. With a roar, he summoned a massive earth lion to block Fugetsu Jinshō’s retreat, then unleashed a savage combination attack with his twin swords, Sakura Ten and Deadwood.

In a flash, Fugetsu Jinshō was defeated. Shiki lifted his chin arrogantly, giving Whitebeard a defiant glare — drawing a hearty laugh from the old giant.

...

"He can control the earth?! That’s terrifying!!" Countless samurai stared at Shiki in awe and fear. In Wano, users of strange abilities — "sorcerers" — were both loathed and secretly envied.

While the crowd trembled under the pressure, Brook suddenly appeared atop the Shogun’s platform, causing an immediate uproar.

Shimotsuki Token, Shimotsuki Yasuie, and the elite Oniwabanshu samurai all tensed, weapons drawn. How had he moved so fast?!

"Relax, relax. I mean no harm," Brook said, raising both hands in peace.

"Outsider, you’re too strong. Wano does not welcome you!" Sukiyaki said coldly, unafraid.

"Lord Shogun," Brook spoke calmly, "I come bearing peace. I overheard during the battle — Wano still has many impoverished, lawless regions, like Kuri. My dream since childhood has been a world where everyone has food to eat, books to read, and work to do. Please allow me to help you bring peace to Kuri."

His words stunned the crowd. An outsider — offering to fix their most dangerous lawless zone?

...

"Though I respect your ideals, I don’t believe anyone could be so selfless," Sukiyaki said sharply. "Tell me your true goal!"

Brook sighed. "Well, you saw through me. The truth is... several major powers in the outside world are at war. We’re simply looking for a peaceful place to grow stronger for a while. Your country’s geography is naturally secure. We stumbled upon it by accident — we mean no harm. If you’re willing, we can even pay rent and help you stabilize Kuri. And we won’t stay here more than a few years. Our true home is still the world beyond."

...

Brook’s half-truth, half-lie explanation sounded convincing enough that even Shimotsuki Token was tempted. Help pacify Kuri, pay rent, and then leave peacefully?

It sounded... almost too good to refuse.
