Chapter 353: Call Again
Chapter 353: Chapter 353: Call Again
She told herself that it didn’t matter to her how he wanted others to call him.
Yes, it didn’t matter!
But deep inside, she felt uneasy, and Leng Yu Yan stabbed her rice aggressively, as if trying to vent her frustration.
Suddenly, Ye Yiheng spoke up, "The rice hasn’t offended you; it can fill you up. Why don’t you eat it properly?"
Hearing his preachy tone, Leng Yu Yan lowered her head and ate without looking at him again.
She had never eaten so quickly, as if a bitterness were spreading in her heart, when a milky voice interrupted her thoughts.
"Big sister, play with me today." Jiang Rou came hopping over, looked at the small amount of food left in Leng Yu Yan’s bowl, "It’s just a little bit of rice, big sister can finish quickly, I’ll wait for you."
Leng Yu Yan wanted to say she wasn’t in a good mood, but seeing Jiang Yu also walking over, and since she had promised Little Rou’er...
At that moment, Jiang Yu said, "Ah Li, why are you eating just a few dishes? Let me add a few more for you."
Hearing this, Leng Yu Yan quickly finished her meal, and then took Jiang Rou’s little hand, "Let’s go, big sister is done eating, let’s play together."
Jiang Rou happily rubbed her little head against Leng Yu Yan, "Okay, okay."
The two girls, one old and one young, walked away.
Ye Yiheng looked at the remaining half of the rice in his own bowl and then at Leng Yu Yan’s empty bowl. What had happened?
Jiang Yu came over with two plates of food, saw Leng Yu Yan walking away, and apologized to Ye Yiheng, "Ah Li, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have spoken badly about your sister. Can you explain to her for me? I didn’t mean to insult her."
In fact, she had meant to insult her because she thought they were in some unspeakable relationship.
Ye Yiheng didn’t touch the dishes Jiang Yu brought, ate his rice silently, stood up, and coldly said, "It’s impossible between us!"
With that, he walked out of the cafeteria.
Jiang Yu called after his retreating figure, "How do you know if you don’t try?"
Jiang Rou was holding Leng Yu Yan’s hand on the deck when she suddenly stopped and looked up at her.
"Big sister, I want to tell you, I don’t have any friends."
Leng Yu Yan looked down, "How come you don’t have friends?"
"I’ve always lived on the ship, I haven’t had a chance to make friends," Jiang Rou pouted, "Sometimes there are kids my age, but they leave the ship soon after boarding."
Hearing this, Leng Yu Yan touched her hair, "No matter what, Little Rou’er, you have to be happy every day."
"Yes!" Jiang Rou nodded vigorously, "Can big sister stay and keep playing with me forever?"
Leng Yu Yan gently shook her head, "I don’t want to lie to you. I will also leave the ship after a few days, but I will always remember Little Rou’er’s sweet smile!"
Jiang Rou seemed to have anticipated this and smiled sweetly, "It’s okay, shall we go play with the snow in the aft cabin now?"
Leng Yu Yan nodded.
With someone to accompany her, Jiang Rou was very happy. After playing for a while, she pushed her cold little hands towards Leng Yu Yan for warmth.
After a quarter of an hour, seeing her hands were red, Leng Yu Yan suggested, "Shall we stop playing now? Is that okay?"
Rarely having someone to play with, Jiang Rou didn’t want to go back to the room so soon and shook her head coquettishly, "Please, big sister, let’s play a bit longer."
Leng Yu Yan took her hand, "If you listen obediently, big sister will give you candy."
Hearing about the candy, the little girl’s eyes lit up, "Really?"
"Yes, do you want some?"
"I want some." The little girl licked her lips and obediently followed Leng Yu Yan back to the room.
Just at the door, they saw Jiang Yu holding a curtain, waiting for them, "Little sister, I’ve come to apologize."
Before Leng Yu Yan could speak, Jiang Rou asked, "Auntie, why are you here?"
Jiang Yu showed them the curtain in her hand, "I’ve come to put up a curtain for Ah Li’s room."
"Thank you very much!" Leng Yu Yan nodded.
By doing so, she would feel less awkward when she fell asleep with someone.
How did someone allow others to call him Ah Li?
Jiang Yu smiled. "No need to thank me; this curtain was always available on the boat."
He then followed Leng Yu Yan into the house.
Upon entering, he saw a man with a beard deeply engrossed in studying a chess manual, which was like a book of secrets to Jiang Yu. But seeing him so absorbed, her admiration for him intensified.
Her gaze moved to the two beds in the room, each with a bundle, and Jiang Yu said to Leng Yu Yan, "Then I’ll hang the curtain between the beds."
Leng Yu Yan nodded politely. "Thank you for the trouble, Miss Jiang Yu."
Ye Yiheng kept his eyes straight throughout, feeling extremely annoyed by this woman who was overly eager to please.
However, since she came in with Leng Yu Yan, he couldn’t say anything but just kept a cold expression.
It wasn’t long before the curtain was set up.
Jiang Yu tested it by pulling it, perfectly separating the two beds. Pleased, she then said to Jiang Rou, "Little Rou’er, go back with your aunt."
Jiang Rou wrinkled her nose. "You go; I want to play with sister some more."
Jiang Yu stole a glance at Ye Yiheng, then nodded gently to Leng Yu Yan, speaking as softly and tenderly as possible, "If you siblings need anything, just find me."
Leng Yu Yan responded indifferently. "Thanks!"
This woman was so attentive just to show off in front of someone?
With that person not saying anything, she couldn’t very well stop her.
After Jiang Yu left, Leng Yu Yan took a wallet out of her bundle and gave Jiang Rou a few candy beans.
Seeing the colorful candies in her palm, the little girl smiled brightly, popped one into her mouth, and then ran out.
Jiang Rou ran to the deck, took a candy bean in her fingertip, and held it up high. "Daddy, open your mouth."
Jiang Xuan bent down and opened his mouth, and Jiang Rou tossed the candy bean into it.
"Daddy, is it sweet?"
As the rich sweetness dissolved in his mouth, Jiang Xuan smiled. "It’s sweet. Where did such sweet candy come from?"
"Sister gave it to me." Jiang Rou ate another. "Daddy, I want sister to stay on the boat forever."
Jiang Xuan paused for a moment before smiling. "How can we keep your sister on the boat?"
"Daddy, marry my sister, and she’ll become Little Rou’er’s mom, then Little Rou’er’s mom can stay with Little Rou’er."
Jiang Xuan, looking thoughtful, picked up Jiang Rou. "Does Little Rou’er really like that sister?"
Jiang Rou nodded vigorously. "Sister is gentle; not only is she gentle in demeanor, but her hands are even gentler. When I played in the snow and my hands got cold, she would gently hold my hands to warm them."
"But she said she would leave the ship in a few days, and I don’t want her to leave."
Saying this, a glimmer of tears formed in Jiang Rou’s eyes.
--
With no one else in the room, Ye Yiheng closed the door, then moved to pull down the curtain but Leng Yu Yan stopped his hand.
"Why pull it down? It’s fine hanging there."
Ye Yiheng looked into her eyes. "Do you want to keep your distance from me, little sister?"
"Didn’t we tell others we were siblings when we boarded?"
Leng Yu Yan looked down; had he not agreed to tell others the same?
Ye Yiheng let go of the curtain, lifted her delicate chin and said, "Then call me ’brother’ again."
Leng Yu Yan pushed his hand away. "I won’t call you that."
"You called so sweetly earlier; now that we are alone, why can’t you say it?"
He looked at her indifferently, his voice equally cold.
