Chapter 303: #A Happy Ending? (8)

Ding! Ding!

[All-Cutting Heavenly Sword is summoned back into the Heavenly Sword Treasury.]

Having fulfilled its mission, the sword hilt disappeared from my hand.

-Kyaaaak! Kieeeeeeek!

A chilling cry—part woman, part monster—ripped through the air.

Just like in the past, the Apocalyptic God of Destroyer shattered into hundreds of pieces. That alone wouldn’t change a thing, as each fragment was capable of destroying a world.

However, the Demon Lord’s Disintegration that I’d executed was infused with thousands of years of causality amassed from the Tower of Gods.

Psss...

The first God of Destroyer’s fragment that I’d defeated with Mountain-Gnawing Titan lost its power and disintegrated. That was only the beginning. The fragment that destroyed Demon Lord’s world crumbled into ash as well. Even the fragments that destroyed Eight’s world, and all others traversed by Yi-Shin, Sam-Shin, and Sa-Shin in the Tower of Gods, had vanished. The hundreds of fragments of God of Destroyer fell into pieces one by one, disappearing.

I-is that it? Did I win?

I defeated God of Destroyer! However, this was no time to revel in victory. My eyes glowed black, white, and green.

Where are you, Sam-Shin?!

I hurriedly searched for Sam-Shin with my divine eyes. I had to find him before he got obliterated along with God of Destroyer!

Ding!

Moments later, I found him lodged in the flesh of the God of Destroyer’s tail. He was unconscious. Seeing how his hair had turned white, he had probably exhausted his divine power trying to stop God of Destroyer.

“Sam-Shin!”

Swoosh!

I used teleportation to reach him as soon as possible. Grabbing into his arm, I pulled Sam-Shin out. In the next moment, darkness engulfed my vision, and the landscape shifted.

T-this is?

This place seemed familiar. It reminded me of Sung Mi-Na’s Mental Space when I was fighting her... As I held the unconscious Sam-Shin, observing our surroundings, a woman emerged from the darkness.

The naked woman with the universe beneath her skin. She was the mastermind behind all of this—God of Destroyer. The stars glimmering beautifully within her began to return to their original places.

Sss...

At the same time, she slowly crumbled like sand.

Kukuku! Not bad! I never expected you to push me this far! Quite impressive!” She laughed hysterically, staring at her disappearing arms.

Somehow, I could feel her emotions. Was it because I was in her mental space? Despite being annihilated, she was overjoyed. Watching her, I thought of a question I’d harbored for a long time. Did she want to create an existence that could stop her? Was that why she made me repeat the endless cycle and climb the Tower of Gods?

Her laughter abruptly stopped. “Don’t jump to conclusions, my child.”

Ruuuuumble! Plop!

An immense pressure crushed me and my knees buckled.

Uuurgh!

“I might’ve suffered a huge blow, but it’s still not enough to bring me down! What’s a missing limb? In a hundred years, I’ll be whole again and laying waste to the universe! Kihihi! Then, finally... I’ll finally be able to resurrect my beloved companion, God of Creator...!”

Suddenly, her hysteria stopped, and she gazed at me with blazing eyes.

“Will he truly come back? Even if he did, won’t he blame me for destroying all the worlds he’d worked so hard to create? If he were to blame me for wreaking havoc over the eons... I won’t be able to take it. You’re his inheritor, so what do you think? Hmm? Tell me.”

I pulled through the immense pressure, gritting my jaw as I got up on my feet. "Had it been me, I’d never have wished for destruction!"

Even if I wasn’t God of Creator himself, I was still a writer, creating both world and story! If someone destroyed the world I’d poured my life into, ‘pain’ wouldn’t begin to describe the suffering!

“...I thought so.” Her head dropped helplessly.

Tears of blood trickled from her eyes, staining her feet red. The sight was sorrowful and heartbreaking to watch. Instead of the incorrigible God of Destroyer, she seemed more like a pitiful woman who had lost her beloved.

Her black lips partly slightly, whispering, “But, I still wish for his resurrection...”

Ruuuumble!

I felt it in my gut, that something was happening in the real world.

“I won't listen to his resentment! Maybe I won't get to hear it at all.”

Ding!

[Clear Eyes of God sees reality.]

My divine eyes looked beyond the mental space and saw everything that went down in the real world. I saw God of Destroyer, who had fallen apart, reduced to a pile of ashes. I was about to avert my gaze when something else happened.

Tzzzz!

The remnants of God of Destroyer glowed bright red like molten steel, transforming into dandelion seeds.

T-those are...?

It felt like a déjà vu of the moment when God of Creator sacrificed himself to create the world that we knew now.

No, it’s different!

The fragments were fundamentally different from his! The red dandelion seeds bore nothing but destruction!

“God of Creator said that he’d failed to create a world of eternity because he couldn’t become God of Eternity. Instead, he created an imperfect world where creation and destruction, life and death form an endless loop. Since he himself perished, this is where I—destruction and death—prevail. If I were to perish, then God of Creator would surely be reborn. No... he must be reborn!”

“S-stop it!” I reached out to God of Destroyer in her mental space.

Baaaaam!

However, the mental space began collapsing.

-Kukuku, my beloved God of Creator. It’s now your turn to live alone and witness the destruction of the world in my place...

Aargh!”

Like her last declaration, God of Destroyer’s voice pierced through my ears, bringing me back to reality.

This can’t be!

I couldn’t find the woman who was determined to shroud the world in destruction anywhere. Instead, an even greater despair filled the area.

Swoosh—

Red seeds, sparkling like rubies, filled the universe. The sight was so awe-inspiring, breathtakingly beautiful that I was at a loss for words. Nevertheless, it was mere falsehood.

Riiip—

A crack formed in the space, and as if following God of Destroyer’s will, the seeds of destruction scattered in all directions, keen on destroying every single world.

“No! I must stop them!” I instinctively screamed. But how was I supposed to do so?

That timebomb could obliterate everything with the slightest touch. All the gods and followers could only watch in despair as they felt utter helplessness.

Sss—

“Destroy...”

Just then, Sam-Shin woke up in my arms.

Reaching toward the All Phenomena in my hand, he struggled saying, “Please... protect...”

Sss—

With those final words, he faded away, seeping back into me. The seeds of destruction exploded all at once.

Baaaaam!

An explosion—like the Big Bang that birthed the universe—had occurred. Yet, all it produced was destruction and death. Even the pinnacles of Gods were helpless against it.

“No, no...”

Everything was disappearing. Everything I love—the followers who believed in me, every world created by the primordial God of Creator at the cost of himself—were engulfed by destruction and returning to chaos.

I raised All Phenomena in my hand. I wasn’t sure if this would work, but this was my last hope and straw.

I am Author of All Phenomena.

Ssss!

Thus, I began writing on the world nearing its end.

***

This was the unfinished manuscript I had put away.

Eugene Lee named the being who created this horrific nightmare which trapped people in fear and despair until their death, “god.” She...

More words were added onto the incomplete manuscript.

...She made up her mind.

To kill the god responsible for all of these nightmares. After going through all sorts of hardships and obstacles, Eugene Lee finally arrived before the god.

This... is god?

Unexpectedly, the true identity of the so-called god was a young child barely ten-years-old. She found the child asleep in a tiny room, barely three square meters big, clutching a bundle of papers to his chest. The deep dark circles under their eyes and the thin, small body clearly showed how long they had gone without sleep. Was there a possibility that this child knew his nightmares had been harming people?

She decided to not be swayed by pity. Eugene Lee aimed the pistol in her trembling hand at the sleeping child’s head. This would end everything—-the relentless nightmare, the endless world of despair.

Resting her finger on the trigger, she slowly moved it.

Bang!

Sss—

The Child who Dreamed the World.

The pot-bellied middle-aged man had been silently flipping through the pages for a while, finally looked up and asked, “So this is the end?”

The young child from the unfinished manuscript, the god who dreamed and materialized the nightmares, the child who dreamed up worlds...

I, Yu Il-Shin, replied, “Yes.”
