Obsessive Tycoon and His Swan Girl
Chapter 82 - 82 82 Missed a Good Opportunity

Chapter 82: Chapter 82 Missed a Good Opportunity Chapter 82: Chapter 82 Missed a Good Opportunity Madam Song was adept at reading people and had already discerned that her son was not on good terms with the woman before them. Her smile faded a bit as she asked, “Xingyu, what’s going on here?”

“It’s nothing much, she just ran into me and then cursed at me, saying that I’m blind and should rot in this petty place,” shrugged Song Xingyu.

“I see. So I have failed in my parenting,” replied Madam Song, her tone turning completely cold; each word was delivered with a chilliness that was laden with barbs.

For Liang Jinlan, her words were more painful than if she had been slapped across the face multiple times.

“I’m sorry, Madam Song, that’s not what I meant,” Liang Jinlan said, immediately flustered.

Although Madam Song had good self-control and did not create a scene, having been insulted, her demeanor towards her beloved younger son was undeniably cold and distant. She carried herself with the poise of a high-ranking official’s wife, exuding an air of superiority that Liang Jinlan could not hope to reach.

“I’m really sorry!” Liang Jinlan kept apologizing.

“Are you hurt anywhere?” Madam Song asked Song Xingyu.

“I’m fine; I’m tough. Some people might not watch where they’re going, but I sure do,” he said.

Only when Madam Song turned to face her son did her expression soften, but she did not spare another glance at Liang Jinlan, as if considering her no better than a filthy rag, unworthy of even a single look.

In her panic, Liang Jinlan felt completely out of her depth, lacking any firm ground to stand on as she hurriedly tried to explain: “Madam Song, fellow student, about what just happened, it was just a small misunderstanding…”

Song Xingyu watched her with an expression that said, “If it was a misunderstanding, then go ahead and explain.”

Liang Jinlan was at a loss for words, which only added to her embarrassment.

Jiang Fanyue was leading Song Yuan over to their side, and her manners today were even gentler than usual, which took Song Yuan by pleasant surprise.

When they arrived, Jiang Fanyue saw her mother bowing her head with downcast eyes, her face deathly pale as she said something to Song Xingyu.

Song Xingyu?

Song Xingyu!

He was standing next to Madam Song, who looked affectionate and concerned while holding his hand.

Jiang Fanyue sensed something and felt as if her head had exploded.

“Song Yuan, that person over there…” She couldn’t believe what she was seeing, but the situation forced her to consider that unthinkable possibility.

“Over there, that person is your mother, right? I don’t recognize the other parents,” Song Yuan replied truthfully.

Even though Jiang Fanyue had an inkling of what was going on, hearing that answer still struck her fiercely. She felt a sharp pain in her heart, and a coldness enveloped her, freezing her so much she couldn’t catch her breath.

“Fanyue, what’s wrong? Weren’t you going to introduce me to your mother?” Song Yuan asked, full of anticipation.

Jiang Fanyue heard Song Yuan’s voice as distant and faint, yet it was piercingly sharp to her ears, causing a buzzing sound.

“Never mind, you go ahead first,” Jiang Fanyue managed to squeeze out the words.

Song Yuan, puzzled by the situation, could only watch helplessly as she walked away.

Jiang Fanyue didn’t know how she managed to make her way to Liang Jinlan’s side.

Song Xingyu was speaking to Lady Song, “Mom, it’s perfect timing that you came today, as I just happen to have a classmate I want to introduce to you. Mom and Dad, this is Jiang Zhe…”

Called by name, Jiang Zhe gave a slight nod of acknowledgement.

“So this is the Jiang classmate you mentioned.”

Without needing much introduction from Song Xingyu, just by observing Jiang Zhe’s demeanor, Lady Song could tell that this was indeed the genuine Jiang classmate.

Her stunning beauty and refined temperament made her stand out immensely; even without speaking and dressed in the same uniform as everyone else, she was easily distinguishable from the crowd.

Lady Song’s eyes were filled with admiration as she spoke to Jiang Zhe with warmth.

Seeing such a scene, Liang Jinlan couldn’t bring herself to step forward. She watched helplessly as Jiang Zhe was showered with attention, getting to know the Song family, blending in as if one of them, and her heart filled with regret.

While regretting, Song Xingyu spoke up, and Liang Jinlan quickly perked up to listen to what he was saying.

“These seats are reserved for us, look, the names are tagged on them. Could you go and sit in the first-class seats?” In front of his parents and older brother, Song Xingyu managed to behave appropriately, not directly sending people away.

Liang Jinlan and Jiang Fanyue had no face left to continue sitting there. A glance confirmed that this section was all reserved for the unnamed class. Feeling even more humiliated and indignant, they quickly walked towards the seats for the first class.

As soon as they sat down, Liang Jinlan’s face collapsed completely, “What happened? Didn’t you say that Song Yuan was the son of Song Ye?”

It was she who first denied that Song Xingyu was the son of Song Ye, and through analysis and reasoning, had excluded Song Xingyu.

Now, she blamed everything on Jiang Fanyue, who could only bear the blame and said softly, “I was wrong, I’m sorry, Mom. I really didn’t expect the son of Director Song to be in the unnamed class with such poor grades.”

“Really! What were you thinking! Do you have any idea how angry Lady Song was today!” Liang Jinlan was furious about wasting such a good opportunity and now having made an enemy of Song Xingyu, yet she had no way to remedy the situation.

She watched as Jiang Zhe was invited by Lady Song to sit together, looking kindly, and apparently getting along very well.

Liang Jinlan’s heart was filled with both anger and hatred.

Jiang Fanyue clenched her palm fiercely; she could never have anticipated that Song Xingyu would have such a background!

Being a young master from the Song family, yet boldly staying in the unnamed class with such dreadful grades, how could she blame herself for guessing incorrectly!

And yet, none of this was her fault.

“Mom, I really didn’t anticipate that Director Song’s son would have such poor grades, not even making it into class C, and having to stay in the unnamed class. If I had known earlier, I definitely wouldn’t have lost the chance to connect with him.”

Jiang Fanyue’s words served both as an explanation and as a reminder to her mother that, despite her good grades, missing the chance to get to know Song Xingyu was unavoidable.

After calming down, Liang Jinlan also realized the stark difference between the first class and the unnamed class. It was too much to ask Jiang Fanyue to befriend Song Xingyu.

Even if she had offended Song Xingyu just now, wasn’t it because Song Xingyu was dressed in a garish skeleton outfit? If he had the slightest appearance of being from the Song family, how could she possibly have made such a mistake?

In the end, it was still Song Xingyu’s fault.

Jiang Zhe was simply lucky to become friends with Song Xingyu.

Seeing her mother’s temper soften, Jiang Fanyue spoke softly, “Mom, Heng said that a senior researcher from JZ Pharmaceutical Research Institute will be coming later. It’s said that he’s here to select outstanding graduates for the Institute. Heng will introduce us to him. Meeting the senior researcher can make up for the loss earlier.”

“This senior researcher, he isn’t also here to attend a parent-teacher conference for his own child, is he? Which one is his child, have you found out?” Liang Jinlan, having learned from her previous mistake, asked immediately.
