Chapter 500: Chapter 458: Slapping the Face

"No interviews. Jiang Zhe does not accept any interviews!" Xiaobao declared.

Fatty’s presence alone was enough to shield Jiang Zhe from view, leaving the reporters somewhat at a loss.

Seeing Fang Jun nearby, they had no choice but to squeeze toward him.

"Fang Jun, may we interview you?"

Fang Jun replied with casual grace, "Of course. I also happen to have something to say to everyone."

Jiang Zhe, seeing someone taking upon themselves what she didn’t want, followed behind Beifeng to leave.

Suddenly, she heard Fang Jun’s voice, "Jiang Zhe, may I ask you a question?"

Jiang Zhe halted in her tracks.

Beifeng turned around, and Fang Jun was somewhat panicked by his gaze.

But then she thought to herself that he was just an instructor. An instructor’s authority might be intimidating to students during military training, but stripped of context, he was just a regular soldier.

She looked back mockingly, "Jiang Zhe, how come I’ve only just heard that you’re also a person from Beicheng Continent?"

Her words piqued everyone’s interest.

"Is that so? Jiang Zhe is from Beicheng Continent?"

"Now that you mention it, Beicheng Continent really is impressive. Both Beifeng and Jiang Zhe are prominent figures."

"So does this mean that the strongest participants in this military training are from Beicheng Continent?"

The respect the others had for Beicheng Continent had diminished somewhat due to the incident with Zhuo Jinman and various comments Jiang Zhe had made.

Zhuo Jinman’s plan to showcase the soft and hard power of Beicheng Continent during this military training to enhance its reputation nearly fell through, instead putting Beicheng Continent at the center of a public opinion crisis.

It was for this reason that she had sent the message to Fang Jun, so that he could publicly reveal Jiang Zhe’s identity.

Even if Jiang Zhe had now gained significant fame, that fame should belong to Beicheng Continent!

Jiang Zhe turned around lazily to look at Fang Jun.

Unafraid, Fang Jun said with a smile, "Actually, it’s well-known that people from Beicheng Continent are born with better strength and endurance than others. Look, hasn’t Jiang Zhe just proven that point? It’s quite good, isn’t it?"

The people around nodded in agreement.

Journalists hurried to make notes of these remarks.

Jiang Zhe said to one of the reporters, "Didn’t you say you wanted to interview me?"

She completely ignored Fang Jun, leaving him flushed with embarrassment and at a loss.

"Yes, yes, may I interview you, idol?" The reporter, a young woman, was particularly fond of Jiang Zhe, just like Xiaobao. She took this job opportunity to interview Jiang Zhe.

She had thought that today she might not get a chance to hear Jiang Zhe speak, but to her surprise, the opportunity arose!

She immediately handed over the microphone.

Jiang Zhe looked down subtly and said, "Whether I am from Beicheng Continent or not is not important, what’s important is that I am Jiang Zhe. I don’t represent anyone, any region; I represent only myself first and foremost. Should all people from Beicheng Continent naturally have good physical strength and stamina? Does one place only have one type of person? Good people, bad people, the strong and the weak, are these divided by region or country? Do you think that makes sense? If I win, it does not mean Beicheng Continent wins, OK?"

"But it doesn’t change the fact that you are a person from Beicheng Continent!" Fang Jun quickly retorted.

"So what? Now can I single-handedly represent Beicheng Continent?"

Fang Jun replied, "Of course you can!"

Zhuo Jinman’s intention was to associate Jiang Zhe with Beicheng Continent, to recover the lackluster performance of the Beicheng Continent students during this military training.

As for the aftermath, that would be dealt with later.

Fang Jun had just finished speaking when he felt Jiang Zhe close in on him.

Before he could react, several slaps had already landed on his face, sending stars shooting across his vision.

Fang Jun felt both humiliated and angry, but as Jiang Zhe held him down simply, he found himself utterly powerless to fight back.

By the time she regained her senses, Jiang Zhe had already returned to his original position.

"Jiang Zhe, you!" Fang Jun, flushed with anger and humiliation, wanted to rush over, but Xiaobao and Fatty were blocking her path, making it impossible for her to get through.

She was a complete mess.

All around were the clicking sounds of cameras, which only added to Fang Jun’s raging fury.

Jiang Zhe spoke in a moderated voice, "Since it’s come to this, consider this slap as if it were given by all the people of the Beicheng Continent on your behalf. Let’s say, originally, Beifeng and I had caught the bad guy, but then you suddenly burst in, allowing the villain to escape and even get hold of a weapon, nearly causing harm to more people. This is your punishment!"

"You!" Fang Jun was furious, but she didn’t know what to say.

"This isn’t me hitting you; it’s the Beicheng Continent hitting you," Jiang Zhe said calmly.

She was clearly twisting the truth, but who would say she was wrong?

Wasn’t this exactly what Fang Jun had wanted?

Some students remembered that it was indeed because of Fang Jun that the bad guy had escaped, and they had almost gotten shot, which left them feeling scared. Hence, they had no complaints about Fang Jun getting slapped.

"My interview is over, you got it on camera?" Jiang Zhe asked the female reporter.

The female reporter nodded her head furiously in excitement, Idol, truly an idol! Even hitting someone looks so cool!

Fang Jun stood by, her expression awkward.

Seeing that Beifeng was always by Jiang Zhe’s side, she couldn’t help but glare at Beifeng.

After the welcome ceremony, she got into the Fang Family’s car that had come to pick her up without looking back.

Sitting in the car with clenched fists, she felt a well of dissatisfaction, "Jiang Zhe, we’ll have a lengthy future ahead."

Xiaobao and Fatty asked Jiang Zhe, "Idol, should we take your luggage to the dormitory? We’ll carry it for you!"

Just as Jiang Zhe was about to respond, an somewhat elderly voice called out, "Xiaozhe!"

Jiang Zhe pursed her lips slightly without turning around, already guessing who had come.

Although she had never lived with the Jiang Family, it didn’t mean she knew nothing about them.

"Idol, who is she?" Xiaobao and Fatty asked warily.

Beifeng glanced at the elderly Madame Jiang and gently patted the back of Jiang Zhe’s hand, whispering, "If you don’t want to see her, I’ll leave with you first."

Jiang Zhe shook her head, "It’s fine."

In the span of a moment, she had already adjusted her emotions.

When she turned around, she met Madame Jiang’s eyes, which were filled with yearning.

Madame Jiang said softly with a deep breath, "Xiaozhe, I am your grandmother."

As soon as she spoke, her voice was choked with sobs.

Seeing the face that closely resembled her daughter’s, Madame Jiang’s eyes filled with hot tears.

Jiang Zhe also saw her own reflection in the old woman’s features.

She called out softly, "Grandma."

"Ah!" Madame Jiang’s tears started to flow freely.

She had thought it would take some time for Jiang Zhe to come around, but the reply excited her immensely.

Xiaobao and Fatty were taken aback and remained silent, not wanting to disturb the moment.

"Xiaozhe, will you come back with Grandma to take a look?" Madame Jiang asked.

"Okay," Jiang Zhe agreed without hesitation.

Beifeng said, "I’ll accompany Jiang Zhe."

Madame Jiang, who had watched the live broadcast, was quite satisfied with Beifeng and nodded her approval.
