Obsessive Tycoon and His Swan Girl -
Chapter 477 - 436 Trapped
Chapter 477: Chapter 436 Trapped
Fang Jun had not expected that what she said was actually true, that such a place really existed.
Jiang Zhe looked down and, seeing the clear waters, said, "It has not been polluted, which is pretty good."
Xiaobao rolled up her sleeves, ready to go down and catch some fish.
Jiang Zhe grabbed her, "Wait, the water here is particularly deep."
"But it looks to be only about one or two meters deep."
"The water’s clarity is deceiving you. It’s at least seven or eight meters deep," Jiang Zhe explained.
"Then we don’t have any tools, what should we do?"
Looking at the fish inside, Xiaobao longingly thought.
Jiang Zhe thought for a moment and said, "I’ll give it a try."
She picked up a stone from the ground and, when a fish came near the surface, she threw the stone down.
The fish flipped over a couple of times, stopped moving, and then floated to the surface.
Beifeng took off his coat, fashioned it into the shape of a fishing net, and scooped up the fish.
Fatty immediately took it and began to process it with a dagger.
Just as Jiang Zhe had said, the fish meat was extraordinarily fresh and fragrant, just by cutting into it you could smell the delicate scent.
Jiang Zhe tried to catch another one and then didn’t feel like doing it anymore.
But these two were far from enough; Fatty alone wouldn’t be satisfied.
So Beifeng picked up stones and directly got another three fish.
Xiaobao and Sam Gould immediately took over the task of processing them.
Jiang Zhe sat to the side to rest, watching them handle the fish.
The younger female disciple swallowed her saliva and said, "Then shall we give it a try too?"
Not to mention, they were all local students from the Beicheng Continent, so physical strength was definitely not an issue.
Since Jiang Zhe was able to hit fish with stones, they should have no problem either.
The younger male disciple was the first to try.
He picked up stones and threw down more than a dozen, only to create splashes without hitting anything.
The younger sister tried as well, still to no avail.
"Sister Fang, what should we do?" The younger sister was quite frustrated.
"Don’t waste your strength. There is enormous resistance when a stone travels through water, and you need to master a precise angle and sufficient force to hit the fish. Otherwise, even if you switch to a gun, the bullet fired might not hit the fish," said Fang Jun as she realized that Jiang Zhe and Beifeng indeed had some skills.
The younger sister understood this principle; it was just that she had seen Jiang Zhe and the others handle it so effortlessly, she thought it would be simple.
She could only turn to Tiger Sculpture for help, "Instructor, your turn, we are too hungry."
Tiger Sculpture showed an embarrassed expression, "I normally use my right hand, and now it’s injured, my left hand might not suffice."
He tried, but his left hand indeed could not grasp the correct force. It was not easy to catch the happily swimming fish.
Over at Jiang Zhe’s side, they were already starting to eat.
Beifeng had sliced a piece of fish, squeezed some juice from the fruit he carried onto it, and then passed it to her.
The sour fruit had a hint of lemon taste, which, when paired with the raw fish slice, brought out an even fresher flavor of the fish.
The entire air was filled with this enticing scent.
Jiang Zhe ate with great satisfaction.
Fang Jun and the others could only look away, trying not to watch them eat.
But the less they looked, the more evident the sounds of swallowing and chewing became, making it impossible for them not to pay attention.
Finally, Jiang Zhe’s group finished eating and, contented, she said, "Let’s rest for a bit."
Fang Jun clenched her teeth and said, "Let’s go!"
The younger brother and sister followed her, and they all walked out together.
Not far out, the younger sister saw a familiar figure and said, "Sister Fang, our main team has arrived!"
Indeed, it was their group.
Fang Jun finally showed a smile.
The younger sister ran over, and the first thing she asked was, "Do you have any food?"
"We still have some compressed biscuits." The other party generously handed over some compressed biscuits.
The younger sister and Fang Jun, however, didn’t look very pleased.
The girl from the other group asked, "What’s wrong? Not hungry?"
"Not at all." Fang Jun smiled awkwardly and accepted the biscuits.
At Jiang Zhe’s side, after resting sufficiently, she took a walkie-talkie from Beifeng, "What’s the next question?"
The assistant director asked in surprise, "How does she know another question is coming?"
Xiaobao also asked, "Idol, don’t we already have a general direction?"
"We have a general direction but not the destination, nor a complete map. We must answer enough questions to get the route and destination," said Jiang Zhe.
The assistant director had no choice but to respond, "Okay, you are doing well; the question is this..."
It was a tricky astronomy question, not of the highest difficulty, but if you did not have sufficient knowledge in this area, you would not find the approach to answer it.
Jiang Zhe said, "Received."
The assistant director mused, "No one in their group is good at astronomy..."
Then they heard Jiang Zhe say, "Let’s keep going."
"What does she mean? What is Jiang Zhe implying?" the assistant director asked.
Xiaobao also had the same question, "Idol, are we leaving just like this? Shouldn’t we solve the puzzle first?"
"We already solved it, just follow this road and keep going," Jiang Zhe said.
"What, when did you solve the puzzle?" Xiaobao asked in shock.
"While the assistant director was speaking. By the time he finished, we had the answer," Jiang Zhe said nonchalantly, while Beifeng, used to her ways, followed without even blinking an extra time.
Xiaobao, Fatty, and Sam Goud were all staring at Jiang Zhe’s back in shock.
Off-screen, many people were equally astonished.
Jiang Zhe said, "Aren’t you coming? According to the hints in the answer just now, there are plenty of clues ahead, and the sooner we get them, the sooner we’ll know where our destination is and the sooner we can head over."
With that, everyone hurried to follow her.
Meanwhile, other teams had also received the puzzles from the assistant director.
Many of them were on the ground, using sticks to work out the problem.
Fang Jun’s team had also come up with an answer.
However, someone wasn’t confident in their solution, "Walking according to this answer, aren’t we just going back the way we came?"
"But after calculating, it indeed seems to be the case,"
"Then which way should we actually go?"
The junior sister looked helplessly at Fang Jun.
"Following this answer, we’d be walking in the shape of a Mobius Strip, which is indeed easy to get wrong. But the answer itself isn’t incorrect," Fang Jun said after pondering for a moment.
Everyone knew she was capable and quietly waited for her instruction.
She said, "I see some groups have already gone ahead; we can follow and continue forward. Even if there’s an issue, it won’t be just our group’s problem."
Her method was a bit crafty.
But in this jungle, who wasn’t moving forward by being crafty? Why not take advantage when you can?
Therefore, her suggestion was unanimously approved by the group.
"Okay, let’s do that. Whatever method works for us is a good method," everyone agreed.
The group started looking for signs of passage from people who had gone before.
In a forest that few had ever traversed, traces left by those who had were quite obvious.
Especially since one member of Jiang Zhe’s team was Fatty, whose footprints were exceptionally distinct and could be used as markers.
By coincidence, Fang Jun’s group decided to do this, and although some other groups had arrived at the correct answers, they also adopted this method; after all, it was indeed very safe.
On Jiang Zhe’s side, after walking for a while, they saw a signpost.
It pointed in several directions, with signs for "Return," "Next Stop," and "Dead End" ahead.
Jiang Zhe furrowed her brow and said, "The direction to ’Return’ is wrong, which suggests that the other two directions might also mislead us. Let’s go left."
"But it says ’Dead End’ if we go left," Xiaobao reminded her.
"Look carefully at the plants on the right; they’re all leaning in the other direction, denser. The plants on the left aren’t like that. This means that the right might have a water source, or there might be a cliff where the sunlight is more abundant, attracting the plants to grow in that direction. Since the growth of the plants on the left is more even, it’s more likely that the right will lead to a dead end and the left is safer," Jiang Zhe explained.
Beifeng nodded, "I agree."
Sam Goud also nodded, "Yes, a guiding teacher in the crew once told me that you can indeed determine directions that way."
Xiaobao and Fatty looked earnestly for a while but genuinely couldn’t see how the plants on the left were denser than those on the right, and couldn’t be bothered to compare anymore.
Since Jiang Zhe had already said so, and Beifeng also agreed, everyone was convinced and headed left.
After taking a few steps, Jiang Zhe turned back and casually adjusted the direction of the signpost.
Beifeng chuckled.
Jiang Zhe glanced at him, "What’s so funny?"
"The teams coming after us are probably going to be bewildered," Beifeng said.
"If they had their own judgment, they wouldn’t be confused," Jiang Zhe retorted.
After a short walk, they arrived at a fork in the road.
Jiang Zhe told Fatty, "Go a short distance in all eight directions, then come back."
"I’m so tired," Fatty complained, sitting down with no intention of moving.
"Won’t it be good to lose some weight?" Jiang Zhe asked.
Fatty immediately got up and did as Jiang Zhe suggested, walking all around in every direction.
After making a round and returning, he was light as a feather, not as tired as before.
The assistant director commented in bewilderment, "What is Jiang Zhe up to now?"
He couldn’t bring himself to ask, so he just observed.
Then, a few hours later, a group reached the place with the signpost and was misled by it. They debated back and forth, each coming to different conclusions.
This group had many people and thus, many opinions.
After a long debate, quite a bit of time had passed.
Finally, they chose to go toward the dead end.
The viewers outside the scene were itching to give them directions by shouting into their ears.
As expected, two hours later, they were exhausted when they discovered that ahead was a cliff, and beneath the cliff was a turbulent river... They had no choice but to return the way they came.
When they were heading back, they happened to meet another group that had followed their trail.
The two groups encountered each other, staring blankly at one another.
With all the back and forth, they were not only behind Jiang Zhe’s team, but now further delayed.
While Fang Jun’s team wasn’t misled by the signpost, they were nonetheless stumped when reaching the areas Fatty had traversed in all directions.
