Chapter 384: Chapter 384: Mr. Qin, Please Give an Answer
"I haven’t misunderstood," Ding Xuexue bit her lip, "I just came to ask, to get an answer is all."
She hadn’t even hoped that she would actually get a chance at the marriage proposal.
But for it to just fall into Jiang Zhe’s hands like that, she really couldn’t accept it!
Why did Grandfather have to be so biased and keep everything under wraps until now?
If she hadn’t been vigilant, asking around, she wouldn’t even be aware of this matter.
Even if Qin Jingchen didn’t acknowledge giving her a chance, she wanted everyone else to know that Jiang Zhe had snatched the opportunity that rightfully belonged to her!
Jiang Zhe’s fiancée, it may not be so aboveboard after all.
Jiang Zhe looked at Ding Xuexue with calm eyes, and for some reason, Ding Xuexue felt a cold chill rising from the soles of her feet—why did Jiang Zhe’s gaze seem more terrifying than Qin Jingchen’s?
She involuntarily took a step back.
Then she heard Qin Jingchen’s clear, gentle voice, "Yes, there is a marriage arrangement between the Qin Family and the Jiang Family. I have a confirmed marriage arrangement with a child from Jiang Zhe’s generation."
Once he said this, Ding Xuexue suddenly felt elated, fearing Qin Jingchen would back out of this statement.
If he really didn’t acknowledge it, she would have no recourse.
"Mr. Qin, since you have acknowledged it, doesn’t that mean we all should have a chance?"
Ding Xuexue pressed on.
Jiang Fanyue fiddled with her fingers, staring at Qin Jingchen. So, did she really have a chance?
She pursed her lips, waiting for what was to come.
The onlookers, upon hearing Qin Jingchen’s words, couldn’t help but feel surprised—it turned out these two really did come together because of a marriage arrangement.
Who would have thought, the great Mr. Qin from the prestigious Qin Family, also had to abide by a marriage arrangement.
But what kind of family was this Jiang Family? Aside from Jiang Cheng, they had heard nothing about them; how could they possibly have a marriage arrangement with Mr. Qin that he felt compelled to honor?
Caught in such a predicament, would Qin Jingchen give them a chance? How could they balance their relationships?
Qin Jingchen held Jiang Zhe’s hand without letting go, his eyes and brows revealing a mocking smile, "What chance? If it weren’t for Jiang Zhe, would I even consider this marriage? You don’t think I take the marriage matters seriously, do you?"
Ding Xuexue was stunned; her joy abruptly cut off by Qin Jingchen’s words, the smile on her face frozen.
Qin Jingchen spoke calmly and indifferently, "If Jiang Zhe is the person I have a marriage arrangement with, of course I will honor it. If it were someone else, I would definitely dissolve the marriage arrangement beforehand and then set up a new one with Jiang Zhe. Is there a problem?"
The man’s tone was light as he spoke, but the pressure felt imposing.
How could the onlookers not understand his intentions?
Ding Xuexue felt humiliated, awkward on the spot, unsure whether to leave or stay.
Jiang Fanyue bit her lip, shrinking her figure like a quail, trying to reduce her presence.
After Qin Jingchen finished speaking, he nodded to everyone, "Ladies and gentlemen, please excuse me."
He took Jiang Zhe’s hand and turned to leave.
Their silhouettes were perfectly in sync; from a distance, one could tell they were a well-matched pair.
Jiang Yunxuan, who had been silent, clicked his tongue, "A match made in heaven, do they need you demons and monsters to nitpick?"
Tan Yuheng followed up, "Some demons and monsters just can’t stand to see others do well, and don’t even take a look at themselves in the mirror, to see what they look like! They even dare to come out and compete for someone else’s fiancé? I’ve heard in TV shows, this kind of person is called, what’s it, a mistress or something? The kind that gets ignored, thinking they could be a mistress."
The crowd held back their laughter, their gaze turning to Ding Xuexue, who stood there speechless, bowed her head and without daring to look at the others, she turned and left in a sorry state.
Jiang Fanyue also trailed behind her, slinking away dispiritedly.
...
Jiang Zhe followed Qin Jingchen up to the deck, leaning against the ship’s rail.
The sea breeze was refreshing.
Jiang Zhe spoke up, "I didn’t realize you had quite a few admirers."
"It has nothing to do with me," Qin Jingchen’s eyes were deep.
He turned his head and looked down at Jiang Zhe, "I only care whether one person likes me or not."
He stared at Jiang Zhe, and Jiang Zhe met his gaze, "Depends on your performance."
Qin Jingchen chuckled, "I’ll try my best."
"It all depends on my mood,"
Qin Jingchen extended his hand to her slender waist. "How’s your mood now?"
Jiang Zhe, with her fox-like eyes slightly narrowed, responded beguilingly, "What do you think?"
There seemed to be little hooks in her eyes, scratching at one’s heart, causing a slight itch.
Qin Jingchen’s Adam’s apple bobbed, his fingers tensing slightly as he pulled her toward himself, and a fiery kiss burned at the edge of her lips.
...
When Jiang Zhe returned from the deck, her hair was a bit disheveled by the wind.
She stepped briskly inside, Qin Jingchen following behind her with a chuckle.
Upon seeing Jiang Yunxuan, Jiang Zhe waved him over.
"Sis!" Jiang Yunxuan ran up to her and automatically came to a halt.
"I have something to tell you," Jiang Zhe said. "Let’s find a quiet place."
She glanced back at Qin Jingchen, who immediately stopped in his tracks.
Jiang Yunxuan nodded obediently and took a seat in front of her.
Jiang Zhe briefly recounted the situation involving Feng Jiao and Lu Jinjiang.
She waited for Jiang Yunxuan’s opinion.
Before this, Jiang Zhe had, intentionally or otherwise, brought up the matter, so Jiang Yunxuan didn’t find it too hard to accept.
He just lowered his eyes, as if contemplating something
After a while, he looked up. "Do you want me to go back, Sis?"
"I’ll support whatever decision you make," Jiang Zhe granted him the choice.
"Okay, I always put you first anyway. If going back means going back, that’s fine. Just don’t prohibit me from meeting you," Jiang Yunxuan had fears about that kind of family dynamic from the past.
Having Jiang Zhe bring it up now must mean she had carefully considered it after thorough evaluation.
"Alright, I’ll talk to them about it later," she replied.
Jiang Zhe soon found Feng Jiao.
Feng Jiao had just spoken with Lu Jinjiang, a faint redness at the corner of her eyes.
It looked as though the two had some disagreements they couldn’t resolve.
"Auntie Feng, I need to talk to you about something."
Feng Jiao smiled. "Sure, talk to me."
Jiang Zhe was direct and got straight to the point.
Feng Jiao stood frozen in place, unsure if she could believe what she had just heard.
She stared at Jiang Zhe dumbfounded.
Jiang Zhe glanced at her stomach and said, "Don’t get too excited, take care of the child in your belly."
After saying this, she turned and left.
Only then did Feng Jiao come to her senses.
But she had no idea how Jiang Zhe knew about her pregnancy.
...
When the steamship docked, the sky was lavished with stars.
The suburban sky was vast and lofty, where one could see the clear starlight overhead, the scenery pleasant.
Qin He and Fen Ye drove two cars to pick everyone up.
Back at the hotel, everyone wanted a late night snack, so they chose Jiang Zhe’s room.
Her suite had a spacious living room and dining area for them to use.
"Where’s Yunxuan?" Fen Ye asked, not seeing Jiang Yunxuan.
