Chapter 377: Chapter 377 I Volunteer

"If you let him have his meal, why are you still making him work? What if the child gets hurt?"

Just as Feng Jiao was about to speak, Tan Yuheng said, "It’s my own choice, Grandma. Mind your own business."

Madame Tan was choked off.

Feng Jiao found it a bit funny but held back her laughter.

"Come with me to eat," Madame Tan said.

"I’d rather eat here," Tan Yuheng immediately refused, "Later, I need to attend an event on the cruise ship with Aunt Feng and the others; I’ll just join them."

Jiang Zhe kept eating seriously, as if Madame Tan didn’t exist, not lifting his head or acknowledging her.

Madame Tan couldn’t muster her anger, but she also couldn’t say that Jiang Zhe had done anything wrong.

Unable to win over Tan Yuheng and considering she had plans to join an event on the ship herself that evening, she had no choice but to let it be.

Just as she was about to turn away, she saw Tan Yuheng noticing that Jiang Zhe’s cup was only half full of juice and immediately topped it off.

Madame Tan frowned, unable to grasp why such a situation had arisen.

With her nanny in tow, she left in a huff.

Chen Tonghua picked up the juice and poured for Feng Jiao, saying, "I think Madame Tan has a point. You can’t let children do these things; it would be troublesome if they got hurt."

Jiang Yunxuan looked up at her, "Is ten years old still young? Do you need to be spoon-fed?"

Chen Tonghua was taken aback for a moment.

After finishing the meal, Jiang Zhe went back for a nap.

When he had slept enough, it was almost three o’clock.

He tidied up briefly and, in accordance with their plan, he went downstairs to wait until everyone had gathered before following Feng Jiao to the ship.

Chen Tonghua and Yun Yun were also there.

Yun Yun hardly spoke, while Chen Tonghua talked nonstop.

Just as Feng Jiao was about to chat with Jiang Yunxuan, Tan Yuheng, afraid someone else would take his opportunity to speak with her, stepped forward first to monopolize the conversation.

Feng Jiao found it somewhat amusing.

She stepped back to introduce Jiang Zhe, "The main reason everyone came here for vacation is actually to participate in an event by the Tang Family. The Tang Family likes to collect and appreciate jade pieces, and they have acquired quite a few fine ones. Sometimes they also hold auctions. Tonight is the main part of the event. This time, it is mainly organized by Miss Tang Xinru, and the jades being put up won’t be too expensive, but they’re all exquisite. You should take a good look later."

Jiang Zhe nodded indifferently, "Mhm."

Feng Jiao couldn’t tell if he was just too composed or simply uninterested in the Tang Family’s status or the jade pieces.

Feng Jiao smiled, "If you’re not interested, the scenery from the cruise ship is quite nice; it will sail around the artificial sea in a full circle, offering many beautiful sights. The buffet on board is also pretty fresh."

As they spoke, they arrived at the boarding point.

After Feng Jiao gave a greeting, the ticket checker didn’t ask to see theirs.

People who knew Feng Jiao were aware she liked children and wouldn’t find it strange that she brought her friends’ children for a visit.

Only Chen Tonghua felt somewhat uncomfortable inside, seeing Feng Jiao so indifferent toward Yun Yun, yet constantly paying attention to the children.

She couldn’t figure out what Feng Jiao was thinking.

Once aboard, a man in his early thirties came over.

"Jiang Zhe, let me introduce you," Feng Jiao made a formal introduction, "This is my husband, Lu Jinjiang. Honey, this is Jiang Zhe, a new friend I’ve made."

Jiang Zhe acknowledged him with a nod as a greeting.

Lu Jinjiang was momentarily dazzled by Jiang Zhe’s appearance, but it was only a brief flash, and he quickly regained his composure, politely shaking hands with her.

The couple didn’t treat her any differently because of her age or status.

"Since he’s your friend, I’ll say hello to them later, and let the kids find a place to play properly," Lu Jinjiang said, supporting Feng Jiao’s waist intimately. "And you should take the chance to rest a bit more."

"I will."

"Then I’ll go over there for a while; there are guests. I’ll come back to find you later." After finishing with his wife, Lu Jinjiang said to Jiang Zhe, "Excuse me for a moment."

Once Lu Jinjiang left, Feng Jiao also had a few friends come over to find her.

Jiang Zhe nodded: "You do your thing, I’ll just look around."

"I’ll come back to find you later," Feng Jiao said, and then was pulled aside by a friend to catch up.

Xia Enci ran over to Jiang Zhe and laughed, "This couple seems pretty nice. When did you meet them?"

"Today."

Xia Enci clicked her tongue: "That was quick."

She pointed to the side: "Yunxuan and the others are playing over there. I can’t keep up; I need to find a spot to rest for a bit."

There were plenty of seats nearby; Jiang Zhe casually picked one, and Xia Enci grabbed two bottles of water and sat down opposite him.

Chen Tonghua was pushing Yun Yun at the side: "Go and play with them."

"I don’t want to," Yun Yun said timidly, not wanting to socialize or play.

He just wanted to go home.

"You, you, I tell you to follow your Aunt Feng, and you don’t; I tell you to go play, and you don’t go either. So what are you here for?" Chen Tonghua spoke in frustration.

Yun Yun just lowered his head.

Chen Tonghua had to let it go and allowed him to be, glancing over, she noticed Mrs. Tan’s nanny was coming over.

She went up to her and smiled, "Yuheng is playing over there."

"The lady sent me to take the young master away," the nanny said. "Just now, the lady had someone inquire, and those kids are all orphans from the orphanage or they either have behavioral issues or personality problems. She’s afraid they might lead the young master astray."

Having heard this, Chen Tonghua thought it wasn’t surprising that Feng Jiao was taking them under her wing.

It appeared that Feng Jiao’s intention to adopt a child was indeed not a baseless rumor.

She must have really considered it.

Despite having Yun Yun right here, she had mentioned to her several times about adopting Yun Yun, yet she still focused on children from other places.

Yun Yun was well-known to be good-natured and a good student, yet she preferred to look at the children who came from other areas over considering Yun Yun.

Chen Tonghua felt somewhat angry.

She didn’t even notice when the nanny left.

When she looked for the children again, Tan Yuheng’s figure was already nowhere to be seen.

After a while, other children joined Jiang Yunxuan and the rest to play.

These were children of the guests present at the event, all from wealthy or noble backgrounds, but they integrated quite well with Jiang Yunxuan and his group.

Seeing how things were progressing, the likelihood that Feng Jiao would adopt a child from among them was getting bigger and bigger.

Chen Tonghua walked over, holding Yun Yun’s hand, and greeted people nearby with a smile.

Since everyone was there with their children, all were met with friendly smiles.

Seeing Chen Tonghua with a child, someone suggested, "Let your child go and play too, there’s more fun in numbers."

Chen Tonghua replied, "It’s not that I don’t let him play, it’s just that I’m not quite comfortable with a few of those kids."

"What’s there to be uncomfortable about? They’re all around the same age," the other person said, puzzled.
