Obsessive Tycoon and His Swan Girl -
Chapter 364 Intense Disappointment
Chapter 364: Chapter 364 Intense Disappointment
Beicheng Continent.
Qin Li and Wei Minglan dealt with the affairs of the Dragon Emperor Country and quickly returned.
In the garden, Qin Kuo sat in a wheelchair, his complexion unnaturally pale, like that of someone who hadn’t seen the sun for a long time, entirely sickly.
Birds surrounded him, foraging in the bushes and on branches, their chirping and cooing filling the cold garden with liveliness.
Qin Kuo poured out half a bag of feed and placed it in his palm, reaching out to offer it.
Pigeons and unidentified birds nearby gradually gathered around him, and some, bolder than the others, started pecking at the feed in his hand.
A breeze gently blew by and suddenly, feathers from a pigeon slowly drifted from its body, floating in the air.
Qin Kuo reached out to catch the feather but it floated away, eluding his grasp.
He then extended his hand to gently stroke the pigeon that continued to peck, but the wary bird felt his touch and instinctively jumped away, missing his palm.
The feeling of missing out displeased him and the things he couldn’t obtain made him resist.
Qin Kuo slightly knitted his brows, a flash of disgust in his eyes and, as the pigeon pecked at the food in his hand again, he grabbed its neck with his other hand.
Without any struggle, the pigeon’s neck emitted a faint snapping sound and its body went limp in his palm.
The rest of the pigeons and unidentified birds, completely unaware of this, continued pecking at the ground around Qin Kuo, oblivious to the recent danger and ignorant of any unknown risks.
The nurse walked over and said with a smile, "Mr. Qin, it’s time for your medicine. Your visitor will be here soon."
Qin Kuo replied with a polite smile, "Thank you."
He took the medicine and water from the nurse and swallowed it obediently, appearing to be the kind of patient most welcomed by doctors and nurses in the hospital.
The nurse looked at him kindly, really fond of this good-tempered patient, as taking care of him always brightened her mood.
As she thought this, she noticed birds flying around her feet and stepped aside.
"Ah, this pigeon..." The nurse was startled by a pigeon lying limply beside her and hurriedly stepped away.
After realizing that the pigeon was indeed dead, she slowly calmed down.
"Oh, it seems to have been injured, unable to fly, and landed here. What a pity, it couldn’t be saved."
Listening to his sympathetic tone, the nurse felt her initial reaction had been too strong, inadvertently stirring the patient’s sorrows.
She quickly said, "If you don’t mind, I’ll take it away. We can bury it in the cemetery outside the hospital."
"That would be good, thank you," Qin Kuo nodded.
The nurse wrapped the pigeon in a towel and left.
Soon, she returned, leading several visitors.
Among them were Qin Li and Wei Minglan, as well as a solemn-looking elder and a young man following him.
The elder seemed highly respectable, and even Qin Li and Wei Minglan lowered their posture in front of him.
The young man was the first to greet Qin Li and Wei Minglan: "Mr. Qin, Madam Qin."
Wei Minglan nodded in acknowledgment and said to the elder, "Elder Fang."
"Madam Qin has returned so soon?" Elder Fang asked meaningfully.
Wei Minglan nodded, "Yes, we came back as soon as the matters were settled. I’ll go see Jingchen first."
All four of them walked towards Qin Kuo.
In the garden, Qin Kuo sat in his wheelchair, his frail body obscured by it, with only the top of his head visible.
Upon hearing footsteps, Qin Kuo pressed a button on his electric wheelchair and turned around, coming face-to-face with the four people.
"Dad, Mom, Elder Fang, Assistant Xu," Qin Kuo greeted them in turn, his tone sickly and his voice not very steady.
Yet it had an inherently pleasant and melodious quality.
Seeing her son like this, Wei Minglan couldn’t help but feel a twinge of sourness in her eyes.
"Have you been feeling any better lately?" Elder Fang asked, placing a hand on his pulse.
"The same old," Qin Kuo said with a smile.
He always maintained a smile, which made it easy for others to overlook the dark and sharp look hidden in the depths of his eyes.
Assistant Xu said from the side, "Young Master Kuo’s illness is no longer in his body, nor in his muscles, lungs, or viscera, but rather in the loss of certain brain cells. All he needs is for those brain cells to return to their place, and he would naturally be completely cured.
His current physical weakness and mobility issues are due to certain cerebellum cells not yet returning to their place. Once they completely return, his body will heal without the need for medicine."
Elder Fang looked up at Qin Li and Wei Minglan.
A flicker of very slight discomfort crossed both their faces.
"Mr. Qin? Mrs. Qin?" Elder Fang said pointedly.
"Jingchen did undergo surgery, and it was very successful. All the brain cells belonging to Qin Kuo were extracted from his brain," Wei Minglan explained briefly.
Assistant Xu was astonished, "There’s a doctor capable of that?"
As far as he knew, the surgeon capable of performing such operation had always been found only in the Beicheng Continent.
And in the Dragon Emperor Country as well.
Qin Kuo looked up at his mother.
Elder Fang asked, "Then is it possible to perform the operation on Young Master Kuo again?"
Feeling deeply apologetic and full of regret towards Qin Kuo, Wei Minglan said, "I’m sorry, Qin Kuo, although Jingchen’s surgery was successful, the doctor was only able to extract the cells but couldn’t preserve them. Those brain cells are no longer usable."
With Wei Minglan’s words, everyone fell silent.
Qin Kuo’s fingers rested on the armrest of his wheelchair, tightening slightly.
Even though he hadn’t held much hope from the start, hearing such a result still brought a surge of intense disappointment.
His hope for a full recovery, for the ability to stand up without relying completely on a wheelchair.
All vanished with Wei Minglan’s words.
The brain cells that had been nurtured inside Qin Jingchen’s brain for many years weren’t replaceable—once gone, they were unique and irreplaceable, they ceased to exist.
Assistant Xu was visibly dissatisfied with the outcome and asked, "Why not wait for Elder Fang or Miss Zhuo to perform the surgery?"
Elder Fang and Miss Zhuo were the most famous doctors on the Beicheng Continent, and they had performed the surgery together four years ago.
That way, the operation could be completed, and the brain cells could be properly preserved.
Elder Fang slowly glanced at him, and Assistant Xu realized his blunder.
The surgery for Qin Jingchen four years ago had been with his consent.
However, the operation wasn’t completely successful as there were still some of Qin Kuo’s brain cells left in Qin Jingchen’s brain, something that even Qin Jingchen himself wasn’t aware of.
It was an issue that neither Elder Fang nor Miss Zhuo had been able to resolve at the time.
The implantation and extraction of brain cells were inherently highly complex surgeries, with significant impact on the bodies bearing them.
