Chapter 348: Chapter 348: The High School Entrance Exam Top Scorer of No.1 Middle School
Jiang Fanyue could hold her head high in front of Jiang Zhe and also make Jiang Yaowang and Jiang Xiruo realize that she was just as good as Jiang Zhe. They would regret not letting her go back sooner or later.
After finishing his exams, Jiang Zhe went to Beijing to swim with Old Lady Qin for a few days.
He only returned to Jincheng when it was time to check the results.
On the day the results were announced, all students returned to school.
Inside the unnamed class, everyone was chatting while waiting somewhat nervously to check their scores.
When the time came, since so many people were checking their scores, the network was not very smooth, and some people managed to log in and see their results right away.
Others were stuck and couldn’t refresh the page.
Jiang Zhe was merely going through the motions and didn’t log in to check online.
Instead, Teacher Fu sent her a message, asking which school she wanted to attend and which teacher she wanted to study with.
Jiang Zhe hadn’t decided yet.
So Teacher Fu asked her if she was considering the Physics or Material Science Department, or if she had any other choices in mind.
"Let’s talk about it after seeing the scores," Jiang Zhe replied.
Knowing her temperament, Teacher Fu didn’t press further.
Just as Jiang Zhe had closed the chat with Teacher Fu, she heard someone say, "Song Yuan from Class One scored 680 points; he must be Jincheng’s top scorer in the college entrance exam."
"Class One is really something else, truly remarkable."
"Now Tian Wangcheng can strut around with his head held high! He always looked down on the unnamed class, and now he has even more reason to."
"As if you were expecting him to think highly of us! Who cares about his attitude!"
Jiang Zhe glanced out the window and saw Tian Wangcheng, brimming with pride, heading towards the teaching building. The people who saw him all had smiles on their faces, probably offering congratulations.
Tian Wangcheng had just received news that Jiang Fanyue scored 674 points, and he was annoyed that his favored student was forced to leave No.1 Middle School, helping another school and teacher benefit instead.
When he heard about Song Yuan’s score, he felt slightly consoled, considering it a consolation for the loss of Jiang Fanyue.
"Teacher Tian, the exam questions this year were quite difficult. It’s not easy for Song Yuan to achieve such a score. Based on what we know, his score is likely to make him our city’s top scorer in the college entrance exam," one teacher said enviously.
Tian Wangcheng waved his hand, "We still need to look at the other students’ scores from Class One."
"Several students did quite well. Teacher Tian, No.1 Middle School still relies on you."
Tian Wangcheng couldn’t hide his excitement.
Song Ye’s scores indicated that his position as a top teacher at No.1 Middle School was secure.
In the next year, he would likely still lead the best class, freely choosing the best students, maintaining his unbeaten record over the years.
...
"Xiao Meng and Si Qing’s scores are out!" Xia Enci covered her mouth, "You two scored the same, both getting 690 points!"
Hearing the number 690, everyone crowded around Si Qing and Xiao Meng.
Everyone knew Xiao Meng and Si Qing always had good grades, but to achieve such scores after spending a whole year in the unnamed class was still unbelievable to everyone for a moment. Then they all burst into exclamations of amazement.
"Holy shit! Is this for real?"
"Of course, it’s real. I saw it myself!"
"What kind of miracle is this! I’m on my knees!"
"Pass on the luck! Great god, share some luck with me!"
"You two even got the same score, and both so high, are you telepathic or what?"
Both Si Qing and Xiao Meng had estimated their own scores, but they didn’t make it known and were generally conservative in their estimates, so they were surprised by the results themselves.
Song Xingyu couldn’t contain himself, "What are we waiting for then? Let’s go! I’m treating, let’s go have a blast this very moment!"
Xia Enci immediately said, "I haven’t checked mine yet."
He Ling, who had joined No.1 Middle School at the last minute, also took the exam as a student from the unnamed class and followed up by saying, "I’ll take a look first."
Seeing that Song Xingyu hadn’t checked yet, she said, "You’re always so slow, hurry up and look."
Xia Enci looked at her own score with trepidation, and then couldn’t help but exclaim, "Five hundred and fifty points! I actually scored so high!"
The exam was very difficult, and with her weak foundation and no extra points for sports in the college entrance exam, she hadn’t been hopeful at all.
Xiao Meng said with a smile, "You’ve got five hundred and fifty points, and with the bonus from the summer camp spot you earned, you can consider applying to many universities in Beijing."
"Yeah, that’s right. What about you, He Ling?" Xia Enci asked.
"Oh, six hundred and thirty," He Ling shrugged, seemingly indifferent.
The classmates nearby dug at their ears, wondering if they were really in the unnamed class and not class A.
Who are these incredible people around me?
Song Xingyu covered his phone, too scared to look.
Xia Enci pulled his hand away from his phone, so he covered his eyes instead.
Everyone else had done well, and he was afraid of embarrassing himself.
He had originally planned to go abroad, but now, he actually felt that staying in China wasn’t too bad. Many good universities weren’t any worse than those abroad.
Yet, he didn’t know if his scores would be good enough to stay.
Xia Enci grabbed his phone, "Forget it, I’ll look for you."
"Look if you must, but don’t tell me if the score is too bad. I don’t want to be disheartened," Song Xingyu said, still covering his eyes.
"Which number would you be comfortable starting with?" she asked.
"Five, I guess. Four would be fine too," Song Xingyu replied.
After all, he had only scored two hundred before.
If he had over four hundred, he could pick a decent school in Beijing after some thought.
"Your dream has come true. Shall I read it now?"
"I can actually get a starting number with four?" Song Xingyu removed his hands from his eyes.
Xia Enci read out, "Better than that! Five hundred and thirty-eight!"
Song Xingyu grabbed the phone back, stared at the score for a good long time, and it indeed was true!
He hugged the phone, "It’s—real!"
Other people also gradually looked up their scores, and though there were no more incredibly high scores, quite a few were in the four hundreds to just over five hundred.
Many were doubting whether they had entered the wrong classroom, but as they stared at their phones, the scores were undeniably real.
The entire class had made a huge leap forward.
By this estimation, although the overall score couldn’t compare with Class A, it far surpassed Class C and was almost on par with Class B.
"What about you, Xiaozhe?" everyone focused on Jiang Zhe.
"Oh, just average," she replied.
Seeing her say that, everyone else didn’t insist on asking.
They knew her grades were usually just that, and pressing the issue would only be rubbing salt into the wound.
Song Xingyu walked up to her, placing both hands on the desk, "So what do you want for lunch? We’ll all have whatever you’re having."
It was a kind of consolation for her.
Everyone agreed.
After all, it was Jiang Zhe joining the unnamed class and making several demands that had inspired everyone’s passive enthusiasm for learning, leading to these impressive results.
