Obsessive Tycoon and His Swan Girl
Chapter 299: Trying Hard to Hold Back Laughter

Chapter 299: Chapter 299: Trying Hard to Hold Back Laughter

"I’m getting out of the car, got anything else to say?" Jiang Zhe said, holding his backpack while a corner of his school uniform fluttered in the breeze.

He seemed both otherworldly and divine.

The more nonchalant he appeared, the more he stirred emotions in others.

He Ling was stunned for a while before realizing his own identity, "Why should I, perfectly fine, go see a psychologist?"

As he said this, his certainty was obviously lacking, and he dared not look at Jiang Zhe.

"I’ve decided. You need to."

"I don’t need to!" He Ling retorted loudly.

"Enough, He Ling!" He Zizhou scolded him, "Apologize!"

Jiang Zhe popped a couple of chewing gums into his mouth: "No need for apologies, I don’t lower myself to the level of sick people."

He Ling was so annoyed he was at a loss for words: "I’m not going to see La Xiu, not if I die!"

Jiang Zhe let out a light laugh: "Then go die."

He Ling: "..."

Other people: "..."

He Zizhou, seeing his brother indeed overpowered, didn’t know whether to laugh or how to react.

Jiang Zhe, chewing his gum, said, "How about this, aren’t you planning to go abroad for a car race? If you win against me and ensure your own safety, I will let He Zizhou send you."

"Sister-in-law, this..." He Zizhou didn’t grasp her intention.

Liang Tian gave him a nudge, indicating that he might as well just listen to Jiang Zhe.

"Win against you? Piece of cake!" He Ling won the international off-road racing championship at fifteen. Among this group, only Qin Jingchen could beat him.

Could Jiang Zhe even stand a chance?

"If you lose, you go see Doctor La until he decides you no longer need to," Jiang Zhe said.

He Ling hated seeing psychologists the most. The last doctor who suggested he see a psychologist ended up losing his front teeth.

The He family spent a great deal of effort appeasing that doctor.

Seeing that he was only a bit hot-tempered and didn’t have any other issues, the He family naturally wouldn’t force him to see a psychologist.

But now, Jiang Zhe was insisting on it.

He Ling said angrily: "Fine. Let’s race."

"How old are you? Do you have a driver’s license?" Jiang Zhe asked.

He Ling: "I’m nineteen, dammit!"

After he said that, feeling the oppressive gaze of Qin Jingchen, he corrected himself: "I’m nineteen."

It’s also because Qin Jingchen couldn’t be bothered to help people with their family matters; otherwise, he would have long asked him to manage He Ling on behalf of He Zizhou.

"You have a driver’s license?" He Ling asked.

"I got it today."

He Ling couldn’t help but laugh, looking at Qin Jingchen: "Jingchen, let’s make it clear, if she loses and cries, don’t blame me for bullying her."

Qin Jingchen said to Qin Hai, "Prepare some tissues for He Ling."

He Ling’s expression turned a bit sour.

Everyone struggled to hold back their laughter, their shoulders shaking as they controlled it in their chests.

Finding a place to race cars was Liang Tian’s specialty.

Soon enough, the location and cars were ready.

With a breath held tightly, He Ling was determined to win against Jiang Zhe.

And of course, he held that breath with the determination to go abroad for the race this time.

Jiang Zhe threw his backpack to Qin Jingchen and pulled open the car door to get in.

In truth, everyone was quite nervous for Jiang Zhe; after all, he had just gotten his license, and no matter how skilled he was before, he hadn’t had much practice.

He Ling, on the other hand, had been indulging in extreme sports for years, nailing it to the point of winning numerous championships abroad, and of course, breaking his legs many times over as well.

Somehow, He Ling stood a better chance of winning than Jiang Zhe did.

The race began preparations; cars started their engines.

Jiang Zhe hadn’t driven for a long while, yet the feel of this car was pretty good.

As the sound of the race blared, her car sped out.

He Ling didn’t want to waste time, so he went full speed from the start.

However, by the time he realized it, Jiang Zhe’s car was already in front of him.

How was this possible?

He Ling accelerated, stepping hard on the gas pedal, yet no matter what, Jiang Zhe maintained a constant advantage of one car length.

Whether his speed was fast or slow, her advantage remained within one car length.

He Ling’s first thought was that Jiang Zhe must be using the best car given by Qin Jingchen, and perhaps there were some high-tech devices added to the car that helped her maintain the lead.

But a moment of rationality told him that even so, only someone with extremely high driving skills could handle such a car and maintain such a speed difference with him.

Jiang Zhe seemed even more formidable than he had imagined.

Really was not simple.

He Ling soon knew that the outcome had been decided, and any further struggle was futile.

In the end, Jiang Zhe crossed the finish line a step ahead of him.

The impulse to self-destruct surged up in He Ling again. Whether he lost or won, he always had this thought.

It was as if something compelled him to self-destruct, to destroy himself completely, lying in a hospital with his soul detached, before he would rest.

His car uncontrollably crossed the finish line and headed towards the fence.

Suddenly, Jiang Zhe’s voice came through his ear: "He Ling, stop the car!"

This was the earpiece connected to Jiang Zhe; the two of them hadn’t spoken to each other at all during the race.

A simple sentence like that normally wouldn’t be enough to make him abandon his impulse to self-destruct.

Yet, as if by magic, the sentence firmly shackled He Ling’s impulse.

He slammed on the brakes abruptly, and although the car lost control slightly, he still managed to get it under control, emitting only the burnt smell of tire friction with the ground.

He Zizhou’s heart was hanging in his throat for a moment, not afraid of He Ling’s inability to accept defeat, but afraid that he would get hurt whether he lost or won, almost like a curse of the racetrack, never able to escape it.

As everyone saw He Ling’s car lose control and race forward, they all stood up.

Then, they saw He Ling’s car stop securely in place.

"Good, at least it’s not an official race. He Ling isn’t that foolish," Liang Tian said with relief.

He Zizhou cast a suspicious glance at Jiang Zhe. He thought he had heard Jiang Zhe speak to He Ling just now?

He Ling walked back like a frost-beaten eggplant, head drooping, the impulse to self-destruct dissipated in an instant, as if it had only been a dream.

He Zizhou put his arm around his shoulder, "How are you? All right?"

"You all have La Xiu’s contact information," Jiang Zhe said indifferently.

He Ling conceded defeat gracefully.

Qin Hai brought over a pile of tissues, saying earnestly, "If you’re going to cry, Young Master He, these will come in handy."

Everyone had a hard time suppressing their laughter; Qin Jingchen was really protective of Jiang Zhe, wasn’t he?

"Let’s go," Jiang Zhe said to Qin Jingchen, leaving the others behind.

He Zizhou glanced in the direction Jiang Zhe left, and made a call to his mother.

"Really going to see a psychologist? He Ling has always disagreed, hasn’t he?" Mrs. He was clearly caught off guard by this.

"He agrees now."

"He agrees?" Mrs. He’s joy came unexpectedly, "But I’ve always thought He Ling was fine, does he really need it?"

"Mom, don’t worry about it. I’ll handle it."

Mr. He spoke from the sidelines, "In my opinion, what’s the harm in a man taking part in these activities? Isn’t it right for a man to act like a man? I don’t know what you all are so anxious about!"
