Chapter 200: Chapter 200 Not Considering Her a Competitor Chapter 200: Chapter 200 Not Considering Her a Competitor Qin Jingchen nodded, “The doctor we met this time was quite good.”

“Doctor Orlando is indeed pretty good,” Jiang Zhe also thought so.Fen Ye booked a restaurant on the side and asked, “So when will sister-in-law go see Jiang Yunxuan?”

“We’ll talk about it when we get back to the country,” Jiang Zhe said.

Fen Ye understood that it indeed wouldn’t be a wise choice to visit Jiang Yunxuan right now.

The New Energy Environmental Speech Exchange Competition was scheduled for the next morning.

In the morning, Jiang Zhe and Lou Qiaoyin left the house, and Qin He’s car was already waiting at the hotel entrance.

“Miss Jiang, Teacher Lou,” Qin He greeted them and drove out steadily, “Master Qin has some work to handle, so I’ll be driving you today.”

“Okay,” Jiang Zhe nodded, as Qin Jingchen had already told her about it through WeChat.

Not long after the car set out and merged into the traffic, its pace noticeably slowed down.

Lou Qiaoyin was a bit anxious and opened the window to look outside, “Is the morning rush hour here this congested too?”

“It usually doesn’t get this bad; let me go check it out,” Qin He got out of the car and ran ahead.

A short while later, he came back and said, “It’s not a traffic jam; there has been a series of car accidents up front, and the vehicles have completely blocked the road; it’s jammed in all directions…”

Qin He was relatively familiar with the area but when he seriously checked the map, every road had turned red; no matter which way they chose, it was all the same.

Walking out was even less viable; how long would it take to find a car?

“Jiang Zhe, is that you?” Someone from a car nearby poked their head out to greet her.

Hearing this, Jiang Zhe turned her head and glanced over, recognizing the person across as somewhat familiar.

Meng Yirou felt irritated inside as she was looked at with that gaze; did Jiang Zhe not remember her at all, or was she deliberately showing disdain?

After all, she had spoken to Jiang Zhe at the last cultural show.

Meng Yirou had secured the spot from her school for the New Energy Environmental Speech Exchange Competition, thinking that Jiang Fanyue would undoubtedly secure the spot from her school.

It was only before leaving that she found out it was Jiang Zhe who got it.

Despite Jiang Zhe’s decent performance at the last cultural show, Meng Yirou still didn’t see her as a competitor. With grades as poor as Jiang Zhe’s, her strengths and weaknesses were very clear. There was a gap between her and Jiang Fanyue, let alone compared to herself.

Lou Qiaoyin politely said hello, “Meng Yirou, Teacher Huang.”

The person accompanying Meng Yirou was her English teacher, Teacher Huang, who was in his early thirties and was also indifferent towards Jiang Zhe.

“Teacher Lou, you’re accompanying Jiang Zhe this time. I hope you can achieve a good result,” Teacher Huang said with a smile.

“Thank you, I hope the same for you,” said Lou Qiaoyin.

As they watched the traffic jammed to a standstill and time ticking away, unable to reach the venue, Lou Qiaoyin felt extremely anxious and couldn’t afford to ponder the deeper meaning behind Teacher Huang’s words.

Meng Yirou said to Teacher Huang, “Let’s get out here and walk that way; it’s a shortcut. Once we’re out, we can take a taxi to the venue.”

She pointed on the mobile map, which didn’t mark that path at all. But following her finger, if they exited here, they could reach a green avenue, free from any obstructions.

“Alright, let’s go.”

The two of them waved at the driver and got out of the car, heading towards that direction.

Teacher Huang said in surprise, “You’re quite familiar with this place.”

“My cousin lives here; I’ve played around here for a while before,” Meng Yirou said with a smile. “Anyway, we definitely won’t be late today.”

As they spoke, they looked reflexively towards Jiang Zhe and then, as if by agreement, continued to walk forward without any intention of planning to greet Jiang Zhe.

Qin He said, “Miss Jiang, I’ll make a call and have someone figure something out.”

“Never mind, just call and ask them to pick us up at the west square intersection of Rs. Street,” Jiang Zhe said. “We’ll walk over.”

“What?” Qin He was surprised; he was already quite familiar with the place, so how come Jiang Zhe seemed to be even more familiar?

Jiang Zhe had already opened the car door and stepped out, with Lou Qiaoyin hurrying to keep up with her pace.

Qin He quickly made a call and conveyed what Jiang Zhe had said to them.

Soon, the two of them left that spot and got into the car.

Lou Qiaoyin was somewhat introspective, “I used to study around here, but I had no idea there was such a path. But it makes sense, as it’s been quite a few years since I’ve graduated, and a lot of construction has changed since then.”

As they talked, they arrived at the venue.

Looking down at the seat map in her hand, Lou Qiaoyin heard a middle-aged man with blond hair and blue eyes nearby who seemed incredulous when he saw Jiang Zhe. Only after he came closer did he exclaim, “My god, is it really you, Jiang?”

“It’s me, Wan Si,” Jiang Zhe greeted.

Knowing that Jiang Zhe was not comfortable with being overly affectionate, Wan Si did not go for the typical hug, but instead said in an exaggerated tone, “What luck I have today! Are you here for work or to inspect work?”

“I’m here for the competition.”

“??” Wan Si clearly couldn’t believe it.

“This is my teacher, Teacher Lou, and this is my friend Wan Si,” Jiang Zhe introduced them.

Lou Qiaoyin was busy greeting him, and upon lifting her head, she noticed something special about Wan Si. Although he seemed very approachable, it was obvious that it was towards Jiang Zhe, and the sharpness he inadvertently showed was hard to ignore.

Wan Si invited Jiang Zhe to her seat.

Lou Qiaoyin’s intuition was right; the man before her was none other than the head of the company organizing the event, the big boss of New Energy Development Company, arguably the most important guest in the venue today.

Jiang Zhe declined his offer to sit together and instead asked him to take her to the place arranged by the organizers.

Lou Qiaoyin was quite astonished to find that Jiang Zhe had such a friend, whose name was in the center of the first row of all the seats. Although she didn’t know his exact status, she could tell he was no ordinary person.

Thinking of Qin Jingchen and Fen Ye, Lou Qiaoyin thought that he might be a friend of theirs.

“Would you like to visit the company after the competition ends?” Wan Si invited, “As you say where you come from, no time like the present.”

“It depends,” Jiang Zhe didn’t commit.

Visiting the company wasn’t part of her schedule.

Wan Si shrugged, “Then I’ll wait for your arrangement.”

After finding a shortcut, Meng Yirou and Teacher Huang hurried to the scene.

Meng Yirou’s cousin had received them.

“What took you all so long?” The cousin, holding a camera, said anxiously, “The event has barely started; hurry and go inside.”

“Sorry, we got stuck in traffic,” Meng Yirou apologized, “We’re going in.”

It’s no wonder her cousin was in a rush. Although the competition hadn’t officially begun, everyone had already taken their seats. Being a journalist, he needed to take photos and write articles, leaving him little time to dawdle with Meng Yirou.
