"You can leave now."

Asher Land turned around. Anna pursed her lips, opened her mouth but said nothing. She could only leave with a heavy heart, gazing at his towering back.

She knew that in his eyes, she was merely a pawn, an insignificant and disposable one. She understood her status and value to him and dared not dream of one day standing by his side.

She was willing to do anything for him, even if it meant utter ruin, because he was Asher Land.

Asher Land didn’t expect Anna to agree to his plan. She had made a name for herself in the film industry, and if this ruined her past glory, would it be worth it?

However, he didn’t waste his brain on this; all Asher Land cared about was achieving the final goal, regardless of how much blood the process spilled.

In the evening, he left a dinner meeting and looked at the time. He intended to return to his apartment directly, but a video playing on the square’s large screen caught his attention. He changed his mind and instructed his secretary to bring Sophie Smith out.

The screen was showing a trailer for City of Desire, and regardless of being magnified tenfold, Sophie still appeared stunning to him.

This was her first movie, and it was because of this movie that they had the chance to meet.

Sophie was bewildered when summoned to Asher Land’s side, still wearing her home clothes, which he found strange.

"Well..." She felt a bit awkward. "I didn’t mean to dress like this." She had just moved out of her apartment with all her clothes.

"That’s okay." He drove her to a cinema, which surprised Sophie.

"Are we going to watch a movie? But I’m dressed like this..." What if someone recognizes me?

However, her concern was unnecessary, for Asher Land had already booked the entire cinema.

He held her hand and sat down in the empty theater.

She stared at the screen, unsure what movie Asher wanted her to see, but seeing the familiar face on-screen, her heart couldn’t help but leap with joy.

The movie playing was City of Desire, her debut film.

To say she didn’t feel a bit of pride would be a lie.

This film changed so many things for her; it wasn’t an exaggeration to say her life’s course altered because of it.

Asher Land watched her every smile and tear in the movie, his lips unconsciously forming a small smile. She seemed to possess a special magic power that could immerse people in her emotions.

When the movie ended, Sophie still seemed lost in it until Asher Land gently called her name, bringing her back to reality.

"Let’s go."

"Oh," Sophie replied softly, and they walked out of the cinema.

"This is my first time watching a movie in a cinema," he suddenly said.

"Really?" Sophie couldn’t quite believe it.

Asher Land simply nodded.

There was a small joy in Sophie’s heart; after all, his first movie experience was with her, and it was her starring role.

Asher Land naturally noticed the smile that radiated from her lips.
