Chapter 129: Chapter 129 Mutual Suspicion (5)

Asher Land looked at her flushed little face, her annoyed expression, and unknowingly, the smile on his lips deepened.

If this cup of coffee were poisoned, what would it matter if I drank it?

Better to die under the peony, and still be charming as a ghost.

"I see you really hate me, with such a good chance to poison me, why aren’t you using it?"

"Asher Land, did you take the wrong medication today?" Today she truly only had good intentions, but why does he keep changing the subject?

"Yes, I took the wrong medication." He gave a roguish smile, pulling her into his arms, "Drank the coffee, and suddenly feel much more energized."

"Good that you’re energized, just don’t go crazy." Sophie Smith pushed him away fiercely.

Asher Land seemed amused by her again, his tired body feeling much more relaxed.

Sophie Smith was about to leave, but Asher Land stopped her.

"Stay with me."

"Aren’t you supposed to work?"

Asher Land didn’t say much, just pulled her to sit on his lap, opened the laptop again, his long fingers tapping on the keyboard. Most of his computer contained business secrets, Sophie Smith felt it was inappropriate for her to see, so she wisely turned her head away.

She just sat quietly on his lap like that, time passing by the minute, Sophie Smith yawned.

"Sleepy?" he asked softly.

"Mm." She nodded drowsily.

He picked her up and walked to the master bedroom downstairs.

The maids passing by in the villa couldn’t help but glance at them.

This was just too harmonious.

Usually, the young master was always cold and alone, rarely returning home, but ever since being with Miss Smith, the young master seemed more human, less distant.

A few maids bowed their heads, blushing, whispering among themselves, probably out of envy of Sophie Smith.

He gently placed her on the bed, carefully covering her with the quilt, just about to leave, but she grabbed his sleeve.

"Don’t go..." she murmured, frowning slightly.

He felt a twinge of melancholy, if only when she was conscious she could say to him ’don’t go’ just like this, he thought he would be very happy.

At least, that would prove she still cared about him.

He remembered she once told him, if it weren’t for that five million contract breach penalty and that inappropriate video, she would have left him without hesitation, and she would have stuck to it.

He kept her, but only through coercion.

"Asher Land, when did you become so sentimental?" he chuckled to himself, she held his sleeve tightly, he shook his head and lay down beside her.

His large hand gently stroked her smooth, soft face, her long eyelashes thick and dense, casting shadows under her eyes, she looked so beautiful, so pure.

"If, four years ago, I really did something to hurt you, would you forgive me?" His voice lost its usual chill, filled with warmth.

The girl on the bed murmured something, as if giving him an answer.

Would she, or wouldn’t she?

He couldn’t hear it clearly.

Suddenly, images of the recent days spent with her flashed through his mind, most of the time, she seemed to be using all her strength to resist him, eager to leave him, yet he repeatedly used every means to keep her by his side.

What he wanted, he always got.

However, he was slowly starting to resent himself for forcing her, because his male pride told him he wanted her willing heart.
