Chapter 124: Chapter 124: Don’t You Still Have Me?

He knew that so-called home was not good to her, but even so, she never complained and still gave everything for her family as always. Her pretense of fragility really made people feel pity for her.

"Now I have nothing, I just hope my beloved family won’t be hurt so much." James Smith was a lovely child, always close to his sister, so her current mood was really sad and tormented.

"You don’t have nothing, don’t you still have me?"

You don’t have nothing, don’t you still have me?

Sophie Smith repeated this sentence over and over in her heart.

At such a difficult moment, could she treat what he said as a promise, a reliance?

"Let’s go."

"Where to?" Sophie Smith asked, looking up.

"Southern County."

She naturally knew what Asher Land meant. Those things that were monumental to her were not even considered matters to him. He could easily help her solve things, that was beyond doubt.

Asher Land took her to Southern County, and under her guidance, they walked towards her home.

However, when he saw her house, a slightly shabby building near the Golden Era Building, his eyes darkened a bit.

His change, Sophie Smith noticed.

"I’ve been here." After a long pause, Asher Land spoke.

"You’ve been to my home, right?" Sophie Smith asked knowingly, as she couldn’t figure out her own emotions now.

She remembered four years ago when he stood there like an emperor descending, in her narrow yet once warm home, saying such cruel words, "If you don’t want to, then die." She didn’t know how much he recalled from four years ago, but she feared she’d never forget it for a lifetime.

Asher Land thought for a moment and still nodded.

"Some things I can’t remember, I remember coming here initially for the construction of the Golden Era Building."

As expected, those pivotal events in her life weren’t worth mentioning to him, the busy CEO, because he wouldn’t even remember what exactly happened back then. Perhaps he was unintentional, or perhaps he didn’t care.

The door of Sophie Smith’s house was ajar. Just as she was about to open the door, she heard a rising argument inside.

"How could you be so muddle-headed, using the money Little Sophie gave you to gamble, and now you’ve put Little James in danger!" It was Christopher Smith’s indignant voice.

"Isn’t the money she earns meant to be spent? The more she earns, the more I naturally spend." Charlotte Harrison raised her voice too.

"You! What twisted logic is this!" Christopher Smith was so angry he couldn’t speak for a moment.

Sophie Smith shook her head, unable to fathom Charlotte Harrison’s actions. It was one thing for her to be biased against her, but she hadn’t expected her to now put her biological son in danger.

She opened the door, and the eyes of the two inside simultaneously fell on her.

"Little Sophie, you’re back!" Christopher Smith’s emotions were stirred, but given what had happened, he didn’t even have the courage to look Sophie Smith in the eye.

"Did you bring money back?" Charlotte Harrison had no awareness of how outrageously wrong she was, remaining as arrogant and domineering as ever.

"I didn’t bring any," Sophie Smith said expressionlessly.

"Didn’t bring any?" Charlotte Harrison’s sharp voice was somewhat grating, "If you didn’t bring any, what did you come back for? Keeping you is useless."

With that, Charlotte Harrison raised her hand and swung it toward her face.
