Chapter 64: Behind the Scene.

Earlier that same day, in the house of the pureblooded vampire, in the town of Cuckooland, were John and his master inside the dark room the pureblooded vampire always stayed in.

John knelt with one knee and his head deeply bowed at his master who was smoking his pipe and a glass of blood wine in the other hand. He would occasionally puff a thick cloud of smoke from his mouth before speaking in his hoarse deep voice.

He questioned the kneeling John, "Why haven’t you completed the task I ordered you to do? Why haven’t you brought the lady to me?" His voice sounded hard and pissed off as he spoke still smoking his pipe that clouded the room with a choking smell of the smoke.

John’s head lowered more than it was before in a more deep and respectful bow. He responded to his master’s question, "Forgive me, master, that I haven’t completed the task. I am waiting for the right time so I can capture and bring her to you."

"What is you are waiting for the right time, John? You are my right-hand man and I don’t expect you to act stupid like those thumb colleagues of yours." Came the quick and furious voice of John’s master.

"Didn’t you follow what I asked you to do with the church?"

"I did follow your instructions, master. John’s replied with his head still bowed.

"Then what’s with the delay? Are you all useless, huh?!"

"No, master," John answered feeling the pang and weight of his master’s words hit his body. He slightly raised his head to look at his master and explained,

"I followed every order you gave me, master. As you ordered, I filed the report to the church that there are vampires in the village of Woodbridge abducting humans. The church bought the lie and had arranged to carry out the exorcism in the village but was stopped because the king did not approve of the exorcism, saying that they should go back to Woodbridge and clarify the report before he will think of approving it."

According to the plan of John’s master, they had planned to use the fake report filed to the church to scare the siblings.

The day John caught Mr. Malphus and was questioned by the pureblooded vampire was the day he got to know that Sthena, the king, together with Perdita had tied and carried Mr. Perkin with him after he abducted Clayton one of his men.

John had also informed his master that Perdita had a brother and that both of them still had their human eye color even though they were vampires and were also taking the pills Mr. Malphus was selling to them.

The new information had made the pureblooded vampire very curious to know more about Perdita and her brother. This was one of the reasons why he wanted John and his colleagues to capture the siblings, especially the lady with green eyes. She reminded him of certain people he had killed during the time of the massacre ten years ago. The people with green eyes.

The pureblooded vampire wanted to capture Perdita without much noise or suspicion. That was why he told John to file a report that there were vampires in the village of Woodbridge abducting humans. This way, the siblings will have no place to run to if the church conducted the exorcism in their village. Because he knew they would surely be exposed.

Also, he knew the siblings wanted to remain inconspicuous while hiding that they were turned vampires. So when the church conducted the exorcism and they were exposed, they would have no place to run to and that is when he will come with his offer to give them a place to live in while using the name of the king to fool them.

They would think it is the king that was offering them the help and would follow him without suspicion, then he would lure them into his den and use them to find out the missing puzzle of what he was looking for because they seemed to have the missing pieces that would bring him to victory once and for all.

As for the king, the pureblooded vampire had been keeping him occupied since the night of hallow, and he vowed to make sure the king stayed occupied till his plan to capture the green-eyed lady and her brother was successfully accomplished.

Somehow the pureblooded vampire felt the king would intervene on the day he would execute his plan, and that was why he was acting behind the scenes and taking the necessary precautions.

The pureblooded vampire hearing that John did not follow everything he told him felt angered that his days to claim victory were being delayed by him when he could do things once and for all.

However, the pureblooded vampire failed to see the trap he was walking head-on that was laid out for him by the king.

"I know all of this John!" The pureblooded vampire hissed angrily. He bit on the pipe he was smoking hard enough to almost make it break in two. He turned sharply from backing John and faced him, his dark red eyes blazing in anger stared down at John as if he would consume him that instant.

He continued to bellow in his deep gruff voice, "The time you are taking to tell me things I already know of should be the time you should be on with what I asked you to do! Couldn’t you have abducted her and let it add to the number of abducted humans in that village and also give the church more work to do?!"

"I see no reason why you shouldn’t have captured the lady when our plan was well laid out and easy for you to follow through. Yet you ruined it with your stupidity!" As the pureblooded vampire spoke, the rage in his eyes increased its intensity. He was not a patient man. He lacked the patience to wait!

John still knelt on the hard marble floor with his head deeply deep bowed. He looked pained still kneeling with confidence and not broken by the thunderous voice of his master in the room. But looking closely, one would notice that the hand he clasped on one knee was violently shaking as hot sweat dripped down his back to be soaked by his clothing.

John repeatedly bowed his head and besieged, "Forgive me, master, I’ll go right away with my colleagues and capture the green-eyed lady and her brother immediately!"

"No," The pureblooded vampire declined.

John looked up to his master with confusion boldly written on his face. He voiced out his confusion, "What do you suggest we do, master?"

"Do not follow it that way again. You will be caught because the church’s attention is now fully on the matter." The pureblooded vampire said and drank the blood wine in his hand.

"I want you to follow another plan. Go to the house of the siblings and offer your help to them. Make it look like it is the king that sent to you to protect them from the exorcism that would soon happen in their village. Offer them a place to stay in that is far away from their village."

John nodded his head in understanding. He silently breathed out in relief when the tension in the room that was caused by his master reduced. He knew the reason behind his shaking and sweating profusely was not only because his master was angry, but because it was one of the special abilities of his master.

Some pureblooded vampires had special abilities that many vampires didn’t have, especially average vampires. John’s master was a second-generation pureblooded vampire, and second-generation vampires were very powerful and then followed by the first generation who were the most powerful.

Within the years, the first-generation pureblooded vampires had reduced till nothing was left of them leaving only the second-generation pureblooded vampires who were still alive and were now in power. There were the third-generation pureblooded vampires who were after the second generation in power.

The trait of having special abilities was only found in pureblooded vampires of the first, second, and third generation vampires, but as time passed with many offsprings and descendants that were born, the passing of these special abilities reduced and were only found in few of them who were born directly from two purebloods.

John’s master was one of the few pureblooded vampires that inherited some of the special abilities of the vampire family. One of his abilities was the ability to internally burn someone or something and it was usually activated out of rage. And this was one of the deadliest of all abilities.

Anything he was angered more than his normal level of staying angry, the ability awakens. This was the reason why John had been sweating and shaking in his kneeling position. His master had used his ability on him unknowingly.

John exhaled again feeling his insides hurt like he was on fire. His eyes were filled with uncertainty when he dared to open his mouth and question his master.

"Master, what if the siblings are suspicious of what I tell them and refuse to come with me, what should I do?"

"You know what to do!" The pureblooded vampire snapped and sharply turned to look at John and his hand tightened around the wine glass he was holding that John feared would break in his hand because of the force the man was exerting on it.

"If they don’t comply, tie and drag them to me!" Was the last order the pureblooded vampire gave John before he saw the glass finally break in his master’s hand. The pieces of the broken glass pierced into the man’s hand making him bleed, but the man was unfazed by the pain and blood that was coloring the marble floor red. He looked fearless and undefeatable with blazing dark red eyes.
