Chapter 183: Mystery Unbound, New Horizon Unleashed.

As the evening wore on, casting its darkness on the kingdom. The vibrant colors of the sky were now replaced by thick dark clouds that hovered above the people, bringing with it an eerie silence that was enough to cause goosebumps on one’s skin.

The loud coos of the owls and the strange sound of unknown animals made the night look more terrifying. The wind occasionally blew a chilly breeze that rustled the leaves of the trees in the forest and they added to the strange music of the forest and night with their whistles.

Though the strange vibe of the forest could make one run miles away, it didn’t hinder the feet of a little boy from venturing into the dense forest.

The sound of his small footsteps on the dry grass added to the numerous sounds that echoed in the forest.

His face looked fierce and determined; like a little tiger wanting to devour anything that came in contact with him. His green eyes fearless of the world and its chaos.

As he walked, a dark shadow dragged behind him, the silhouette forming the shape of an unknown creature.

The boy and the creature moved in the darkness and the boy still oblivious of what was behind him entered through a small gate located in the heart of the forest, surrounded by thick and tall trees.

Inside the gate where the little boy walked into, one could see the tombstones of graves that were scattered all over the place. Each one came after the other until where ever it stopped.

The little boy walked further into the graveyard and entered another gate that was locked with a padlock as large as his head. It was no ordinary padlock.

With a snap of his fingers, a green light shone under his little index finger that slipped into the keyhole of the padlock and it clicked open.

This time, the shadow that had been following him abruptly stopped when it tried to join the boy on the other side of the graveyard.

It made a low grunt and wrung its shrunken hands in disapproval of whatever it was that hindered it from following the boy.

The boy continued to walk and unlike the first graveyard that had its graves scattered all over the place, this one was more arranged in lines. Each grave following after the other.

With one glance at the tombstones, one would know that this was no ordinary graveyard. These graves held the most powerful people in them. The tombstone of each grave held the title of the person in it, but one thing in common about them was that they all had a capital letter W carved on them.

The little boy didn’t stop his little legs from moving forward, determined to reach his destination, and when he did, he stopped at a grave that looked like it was freshly dug.

A tombstone lay beside the grave and a coffin made from pure gold was inside this freshly dug-out grave.

Beside this grave was another grave looking the same as the other one. Soon, a girl bigger and older than the boy joined him from the other side.

Together they stood and watched the grave, whispering some incoherent words.

From their little whispers rose the loud voice of their teenage voice and the velvety of their voice couldn’t be denied that even though they were children, they were more than powerful. The most powerful of their kind.

Mist started to form around the place and it got thicker and thicker as they continued their chants.

Suddenly they stopped and the mist also disappeared immediately as if nothing happened in the first place. They turned to look at each other, their green eyes boring deep into each other’s eyes and they felt a spark that sent tremors down their little body.

"Are you ready?" The little girl asked the boy.

"Yes," The boy nodded. "Born to be always ready," He added in a voice that could command respect wherever he went.

"Born to be always ready," The girl repeated and looked at the open graves and said, "It is time. We must do it now or never."

"Hmm," The small boy hummed and turned his gaze to the girl exchanging unspoken words with her.

"You go first," The girl said and saw the boy start to walk towards the open grave. Once near it, the girl stretched her hand up and a green light flowed from her hands and moved towards the boy.

The green light made the boy be raised from the ground and was moved to stand above the grave, and very slowly and gently, he was brought down and laid inside the gold coffin.

The lid of the coffin followed suit before it was closed by the tombstone that perfectly closed the open ground. The green light encircled the grave making sure it was sealed properly.

The small girl withdrew her hand and did the same thing she did to the boy.

Now inside the other grave where she lay inside the gold coffin, her green eyes shone and she whispered, "Till the broken age and time. When the Hallows of the Nights invades the earth."

These were the last words of the little girl before the grave closed and her shining green eyes welcomed the darkness they were enveloped in.

Marco’s eyes snapped open and his eyes shone in the now dark room. His gaze remained unfocused as he stared at the ceiling still in the same position he was in on the bed, beads of sweat trickling down his forehead, and down to his face and neck. Even his body was damp due to the sweat that covered his body.

Marco stayed this way for a long time, his body and brain silent as if they were trying to understand what they saw in the land of the unknown they had visited.

The faint memory of what happened before he fell unconscious after waking up from his two days’ slumber remained a hazy memory in the blur of the dream he just dreamt.

He raised her right hand to look at it and as he did so, he recalled the dream he had dreamt since he fell unconscious.

"Till the broken age and time. When the Hallows of the Night invades the earth." He repeated what the little girl in his dream had said.

What was the meaning of that and what was the dream all about? Marco questioned himself as he tried sitting up on the bed, but the fatigue of laying for such a long time and his sudden outburst earlier weighed on his now fragile body, causing him to slump back into the softness of the bed.

His thoughts went back to the time when Perdita had mentioned having this type of dream to him. And now he also had the same dream. This made everything happening clear to him. The picture was vivid to him this time.

Does Perdita know too? Marco questioned himself, his longing to see his sister again gave him a sudden energy that made him push himself up on the bed.

With a newfound strength, Marco pushed himself up from the bed, his stance slightly shaky as he staggered to the mirror hung on the wall.

He stared at his reflection in the room, the little boy he saw in his dream now transformed into the young man staring back at him.

Marco closed his eyes to shut off the reflection he saw. With a deep intake of breath, his eyes snapped open once again. This time, the reflection he saw in the mirror was slightly different from the person he had always known himself to be.

"So it is true," He mumbled to himself as a faint look of admiration glittered in his eyes. "Green eyes."

"Finally," Marco whispered, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. His green eyes were back since more than a decade ago they disappeared. His eyes were now like that of his sister’s. "She would be happy to see this," Marco continued to mumble to himself as he continued to stare at his reflection.

Everything now made sense. He thought while his mind went back to the time when questions of who they truly were had risen, creating doubts in his mind and that of his sister. The answer had been there, looking at them, and waiting to be discovered.

Marco blinked and the color of his iris changed once more, this time to red, his vampire eye color. He repeated the process of blinking again, and the green orbs appeared again.

"It’s gone," Marco uttered, a bit disappointed at not seeing his usual black eyes. The reason was that he was healed, and both sides of him had successfully merged, now creating two of himself in one. This was fascinating and the journey ahead wouldn’t be anything less.

Marco’s smile widened, seeing himself in a new light. He was two beings. A vampire and a witch.

Just then the door to his room opened with a slight clicking sound, and in came Serena whose eyes apprehensively watched Marco and at the same time in awe of his eye color, and happiness of seeing him wake up.

"You eyes," Serena whispered and halted in her steps, slightly afraid of Marco so as not to repeat the earlier outburst.

"I know," Marco said. The calm aura around didn’t go unnoticed by Serena who was more than happy he was back to his usual calm self.

"You know?" Serena quizzed, the faint longing in her voice caused her voice to lightly crack with emotion Marco didn’t understand the reason for it. Nevertheless, he answered,

"Yes," He went on to say, "I saw everything in the dream, and also in the past two days I’ve been asleep recuperating. I saw our heritage. I know everything and I now perfectly understand."

"Thank you," Serena whispered, her emotions getting the best of her. Her green eyes swirled with unknown emotion and she pushed herself forward towards Marco. "I’m glad you saw everything."

"You put everything in my head while treating me," Marco stated, having understood why he had slept that long.

"Yes,"

"But my sister doesn’t know yet about our heritage."

Serena exhaled, her shoulders feeling as if a heavy weight had been lifted off her. At least, one of the siblings knew and one way or the other, Perdita will also know and come to accept them. But there was one problem, the Lady was stubborn, defiant, and wouldn’t have a fight before they could convince her.

"She’ll eventually know," Serena told Marco in an assuring tone. She looked up at the handsome features of Marco, knowing exactly who he took them from. The thought brought a smile to her lips as she wondered how the future would be once His Lordship made his presence known.

"I need answers to many questions in my head," Marco stated, his now green eyes staring back at the green orbs of Serena.

Serena smiled, her gaze soft with unspoken words in them, she replied, "I am always here to guide you both through any challenge."
