Chapter 165: Marco’s Outburst.
Chapter 165: Marco’s Outburst.
The loud thud followed by the crashing sound that came from Serena being thrown across the room left the room in an eerie silence after Marco declared, "I AM BACK!"
Leonard and Fredrick were too stunned to react on time. When they recovered from their shock, they hastily went over to help Serena up.
The strength at which Marco had thrown the woman was unbelievably strong for someone who had been lying on the bed weak and without moving for days.
"Are you alright, Your Ladyship?" Leonard panicked seeing the blood on the side of Serena’s head as a result of having hit her head first on the wall before her body fell limp to the floor.
She managed a feeble, "I’m fine," as a response to Leonard’s question.
Marco on the other hand, still seated on the bed, stared at the trio as though they were invisible to him. In his eyes, he saw them as weaklings.
"Weak," Marco tsked and negatively shook his head as if in pity. "You parrots have been whispering too much in my ears for the past how many days now. Two—two days?" He asked no one in particular as he stared unwaveringly at them.
"Where is my sister?" He questioned with narrowed eyes. His initial black eyes were now a deep shade of red that seemed to burn like hot coal.
When Serena, Leonard, and Fredrick failed to provide an answer to his question, his jaw tightly clenched at the same intensity at which he stared at them. Deep within their souls.
"I asked, where is my sister?! Where is she?" This time, Marco’s voice didn’t sound calm and eerie, this time the rage in his voice surprisingly shook the bones of the people who stood in one corner of the room staring at Marco’s display with a confused and gobsmacked expression on their faces.
Still feeling the seething heat of Marco’s gaze on them, Serena finally responded, "I don’t know. She might be—"
"What do you mean you don’t know?" Marco interrupted the nonsense he thought Serena was going to provide him as an answer. His voice suddenly changed again to the tone he first spoke with. Calm but frighteningly eerie.
He continued to question, "You don’t know where my sister is. You don’t know where Perdita is?!" At his last words, Marco turned his gaze from Serena and the men and stared around him to discover the unfamiliar room.
The unfamiliar wall and color and even the decorations sent an alarming bell in his head that made him abruptly stand upright and come down from the bed.
"Where am I?" Again, nobody dared answer as they watched the episode before them. A realization seemed to dawn on him as his right brow rose in suspicion.
He put his hand forward and said, "Wait— the last I remember, you Witch was going to cure me. Is that correct?"
"Yes," Serena affirmed and cautiously walked forward, towards Marco. She was quick to halt in her steps when Marco stared down at her moving feet. He didn’t want her or anybody near him.
She knew what happening to him. Having experienced the pain he passed through during the process of curing him, his brain had processed that he was being hurt and in turn, he was being cautious due to the information his brain was intercepting to the whole body. That danger was around.
Even the way he looked at them, in his eyes, he saw danger. They were his danger at the moment. Also, the blood that Fredrick had given him caused his dark side of being both a vampire and a witch at the same time to surface.
Speaking of vampires, Serena thought as she internally questioned herself, why were Marco’s eyes now red? Has his vampire side finally taken control of his body? Would his vampire side be controlled by his witch’s side?
Maybe it would turn out that way seeing how he was behaving. This was exactly how vampires behaved. Fortunately for Perdita his sister, she still retained her green eye color. It may or may not be the same for Marco. She just needed to be careful if not, all her plans would be in vain and their witch clan wiped out from the surface of the earth.
Marco stared long and hard at Serena without uttering another word after Serena’s answer. After some time, he calmly asked as he strutted towards her, "Are you saying that I have been unconscious for the past two days and you don’t know where my sister is?"
"Let me guess," Marco continued and paused with a small smile adorning his handsome face. "You abducted me."
Serena didn’t answer and Marco took the silence as a yes. He stopped walking and suddenly chuckled. The sound of his laughter reverberated around the room. He continued from where he had stopped walking and started to approach Serena again who didn’t move from her spot with a determined look on her face.
She needed to get Marco to calm down and back to sleep. He wasn’t being his usual self. And if care was not taken, it might damage him.
Fredrick and Leonard stepped forward as if to be there to protect Serena from Marco, in case he decided to throw her like a sack again. The boy they were looking at the bed weak and defenseless, now proved to be more powerful than a thousand soldiers. Truly, this has proved to them that he and Perdita are the long-lost siblings they have been looking for.
Marco stopped in front of Serena. His dark red eyes peered down on her with his unnerving smile. "So where did you bring me to, Witcher?"
"To where you rightly belong,"
Serena’s reply caused another fit of laughter that came from Marco. He held an amused expression as though he just heard a very funny joke.
He began, this time the smile wiped away from his face, "I have always been a patient man, but today?" He clicked his tongue and shook his head to a no, "I am not going to be that lenient."
"We are not here to hurt you, Marco. We are here to help." Fredrick interjected as he stepped forward. "Like Serena said, this is where you rightfully belong. You and your sister."
Just as the words left Fredrick’s lips, so did the speed at which Marco suddenly materialized before him, his hands already wrapped around Fredrick’s neck in a tight choke. His sharp nails which he had elongated prior to his attack, dug into Fredrick’s neck, drawing blood.
"How about I send you to where you rightfully belong? To hell?" Marco calmly questioned while his eyes paid attention to Serena and Leonard’s movements.
"We are your family, Marco. You and Perdita. Because you both are witches right from birth. This is where you two belong!" Fredrick managed to voice out against the tight grip of Marco’s hand. He dared not retaliate lest Marco in his rage tore his head away from his neck.
The revelation from Fredrick struck a cord in Marco’s head as he slowly released his hold on the man. He took some steps back while he pressed his head with his hand as if he were blocking out some memories that seemed to overflow.
In that moment, his eyes which had been dark red all these while swirled from red to green and then back to his black eye color before returning to the current red eyes.
Serena and the men also took notice of this sudden change with confusion written on their faces. Before anyone knew it, Marco collapsed, save for Leonard’s quick reflex of catching him from hitting the ground.
