NIGHTS OF HALLOW -
Chapter 137: The Imposter.
Chapter 137: The Imposter.
"It does," Sthena interrupted. "It does change something because the man I killed is not Daemon." He revealed to the scared Perdita.
Perdita blinked in confusion, her mind racing with different kinds of questions as she tried to understand what Sthena told her. "What are you talking about? What do you mean? Isn’t he—" Perdita drawled and looked in the direction where Regan took the body of Daemon to.
"He isn’t," Sthena replied. "The man is not Daemon. He is an imposter."
"An imposter," Perdita whispered, recalling her dream again where Daemon had posed as Sthena to deceive and drink her blood. Now she wasn’t sure if this was a dream or not because the happening right in front of her was similar to what happened in her dream too.
Could it be possible that this fake Daemon came into her dream to deceive her too? Perdita internally questioned herself as she found everything to be amiss.
Perdita slowly nodded her head as she tried not to sway because everything happening so fast. "I had a dream." She revealed and turned to look at Sthena.
"A dream? About what?" Sthena asked, his brows furrowing in a slight frown.
Perdita shook her head in an attempt to get her thoughts straight before answering Sthena’s question. "It was about Daemon and what just happened but the part where you killed him was different."
"You mean Daemon the imposter?" Sthena inquired.
Perdita nodded. "Yes. In my dream, Daemon took your form and came into my room and I thought it was you. Then he changed his face and revealed himself and he started talking about having selfish goals and that he wanted the throne. His eyes also changed to green."
Sthena frowned at first, then came the anger from earlier returning to his eyes. "Did you say his eyes changed to green?" He probed to make sure of his doubts.
"Yes," Perdita confirmed with a frown too. She asked, "You don’t think it is the witches?"
"I don’t just think, I know," Sthena replied and hastily walked towards the door of Marco’s room.
"Why?" Perdita came to stand beside him as he raised his hand to turn the knob of the door’s handle.
"It is because they are planning to do something which I don’t know yet. I have a feeling it has something to do with the both of you and the green-eyed siblings they are looking for." Sthena explained.
Perdita’s eyes widened in fear. She remembered the dream again where Daemon told her that Marco was where he should be and that she will also join him there too.
What did that mean? Why was her dream aligning with what was happening now? Oh no, Marco! She must do something. They must not cause harm to him.
"What are we going to do?" Perdita asked in panic. The feeling of dread she felt in her dream returned ten folds in her heart.
"Stop them," Sthena answered by reassuring her, "Do not worry, Perdita. I am here and I’ll make sure you and your are safe."
Relief washed over Perdita over Sthena’s words, but it didn’t entirely take away the uncomfortable feeling that coiled around her chest and made her breathing heavy.
Sthena proceeded to turn the knob of the door’s handle wanting to go inside and finish with his investigation of what Serena was doing to Marco.
Just as he was turning the knob of the door, so did it stay as it was. The door did not show any sign of opening.
Sthena’s face scrunched into a deep frown and he clicked his tongue when the door continued to stay as it was.
"What happened?" Perdita asked. She too wanted to see what was going on inside and how her brother was doing.
Sthena exhaled deeply to control the surge of anger wanting to spill all over the corners of the castle’s walls. "The door is locked. It is locked with magic."
"With magic? And no one can enter?"
"Yes," Sthena deadpanned.
Perdita covered her mouth in shock. This was proof that these witches wanted to do something to them!
Sthena drew back and kicked the door with force to break the door but nothing happened. Even after countless hits, the door didn’t make a budge nor did it make any sound as if it wanted to break. Next to follow was Sthena’s frustrated punches on the door. He tried teleporting into the room, but still, it did not work.
"What are we going to do?" Perdita panicked. She paced around the place praying that nothing would happen to Marco. What was she going to do without her brother? What did these people want with them?
Sthena on the other hand closed his eyes in deep thought of what next he was going to do. These were powerful witches. Witches of the first generation. Their magic was not to be trifled with. And them locking the door with magic was going to be hard to break, unless someone with powerful magic overpowered them. But that was impossible. He was not a witch, neither did he have magic. It was only his abilities and unfortunately, none of them had worked since he tried using them to break the door.
Sthena opened his blood-red eyes that blazed in anger directed towards the witches inside the room doing God knows what. He had clearly told Serena not to try anything stupid, but she went ahead to provoke him.
Sthena went back to the door, determined to break it. He used his fire ability to burn the door, but nothing happened. He tried using his ice ability to freeze the witches’ magic, but still, nothing happened.
Not a minute later, the real Daemon hastily walked into the hallway. From his breathing, one would know he had hurried over to the place.
"Milord," Daemon bowed in greeting. He said, "I heard what happened when I came back and quickly came to assist."
"No need to worry, Dae." Sthena replied and further spoke, "Though the idiot that tried to be you is dead, we have a little problem with this door not opening."
"Should I bring the key?" Daemon quizzed and turned to look at the door.
Sthena shook his head. "It is something a key cannot do, Dae."
"Oh, the witches," Daemon muttered while nodding his head in understanding.
At the same time, Perdita who was pacing around grew tired of walking around since her body was still weak and was only recovering from the stress she had been passing through. She went to the door and leaned on it with her head raised and placed on the door to rest.
Perdita stayed there for thirty seconds when suddenly there was a change in the air around her and she was pulled into the room by an unknown force even without the door opening.
