Beholders

“How well do you think you would do as a parent?”

Galia: “Such luxuries are better off locked away, even as a though experiment. But if you must know, I will at least give my children a roof under their head. I believe I’ve done quite well nurturing Lethe’s spawnlings. Wouldn’t you agree? However, if you mean as a parent of my own kin… I’ve made compromises to bring stability. That time, and such thoughts, shall remain locked away until Justica Arms’ arbitration is no longer required in this world…” Galia trails off, reminiscing of Lethe, and how happy she was when she was expecting her triplets.

Marionette: “The Strings shall dictate my performance. The equivalent of love is devotion. How well I do hinges not on the needs of the child, but on how I satisfy my role. A parent is, after all, defined no more and no less by simply obtaining a child. To do well is to fulfil the role, however the Strings pre-determine.”

Carpalis: “Hehehe… I would like to believe they’d be in good hands. Not mine, of course, hehe. But of whoever happens to become my partner. One alone should not bear the burden of parenthood, unless prepared. No child should ever lack the love of a pair of parents. A bad parent, I’d be, as I am not as hands on. Evergreen, on the other hand – hehe – would be my first recommendation.”

Knalzark: “It’s one dream a Beholder cannot fathom. My heart gallantly roars that I’d create a machine out of my next of kin. However, that shape would be beaten by what I desire, that is, if it does not collapse under the weight of a dying star… Endorse Attachment of oneself. No Beholder can do ‘well’ bearing an offspring. I doubt they have the organs necessary to support one, let alone hold them with their two hands.”

The Abyssal Mother: “Yes.”

Descartes 3: “It depends on how old the child is, what phase of psychoanalytic development they are, and who gains custody over the child. We may see the first modern internal Atelier War between its own Branches if I had to answer that. The fractured personalities of Descartes have warred for much less. They are quite competitive.”

Umbra: “It must be infuriating hearing how drawn out their answers have been. Why elaborate on an answer that can satisfy the asker with just a single word? No, Blessed One. No Beholder can nurture a child as a star does to a planet. Beholders are exhausted stellar engines, barely holding on in a constant cycle of self-destruction. Only in death may a star nurture another life as a parent would. If your definition extends beyond human definitions, then, I suppose that answer would be ‘yes’, aside from myself… There is no point in nurturing another life, when it will, inevitably, fade away.”

Satania: “Lucifinia couldn’t make it. Such a bizarre question. Beholders aren’t designed to support life. They’ve forsaken their humanity for trinkets. As for myself? That depends. Milk? Never. If it can’t share the fine taste of wine, then why care for it at all?”

Jury: “Amazingly! I know I can! I’m getting tons of practice with Joy! Not that I’m saying she’ll be replaced or anything. Plus, I felt having Ignis and the triplets in our gang helps a lot! I’m practically a parent already! I just wish the triplets would call me mom too! (>_<).

Beholder E.: “Never. It has never gone well, nor ever will. I’ve failed numerous times across the course of history.”

Marduk: “… You dare ask?”

Ignis: “Mn. I don’t know. But why am I being asked? I’m not a Beholder.”

Frost

“From all the anomalies you have seen so far, which one do you think would be the tastiest to cook in a proper recipe? And what would be the recipe (E.g: listening bird fried chicken wing).

Frost: “Tough one! Most of them tasted like crap, but then again, I’ve always been eating them raw. Cooking them however… Hmm. Ignoring how they tasted raw, it’s a tie between the One Thousand Eyed Bird and Asterism. The One Thousand Eyed Bird’s a no-brainer. Tons of Denizens, with the Innocent being doves. You can cook them like you would with a pigeon, with a nice fruit sauce… I’m already drooling~ Then you have the Guilty with that huge wing on them. Imagine the crunch on a wing that big! I might try that actually. It might even keep Jury full for a whole 12 hours.”

As for Asterism... Well, not really like you can whip up stars into a recipe. But those stars make me crave candy for some reason… I wonder if Corrupted memories are– Gah, it’s nothing.”

“How do you three think you would do if you became a mom to a son or daughter?”

Cer: “Real shit? I’d give them what I never had. Straight the fuck out. Sorry for the language and all, but, ya know I got a soft spot for children. Not as pampering as Frost though. And she denies being called a mom. But… Fuuuck. You got me feeling weird. Hah… Well, let’s just say I’d be with them at every step of the way. Boy. Girl. Frost-like. I’d like to be there, cause I know what it’s like to not have someone slow down for you.”

Ber: “like Cer said, I’d do everything in my power to love them. Give them everything Lethe never gave me. But I want a daughter. Two- three – wait, maybe eight daughters! Quintuplets!”

Cer: “Get as many as you want Sis. More for mine to bully.”

Res: “These two… Ahem. I don’t think I’m ready to answer that yet.”

Cer: “Huh?”

Ber: “Res?”

Res: “Because I haven’t found the time to think about it properly. My own children? A smaller version of me? I can’t… imagine it.”

Ber: “Aaah! It’s because you don’t have a special one yet!”

Cer: “Yeah. Or special…” Counts the fingers on her hand “Five? Heh. So Res is the pure one out of us.”

Ber: “I think that’s cute! She was the first one of us to open up to Frost too~!”

Res: “… What?”

Ber: “The Derma Layer~ When we were separated, you let Frost pat your head.”

Cer: “Heh. Sis doesn’t wanna think about being a parent, because she wants to stay under a certain mother bird’s wing~”

“What’s it like being a mom to so many people, also how many more will you become a mom to as well?”

Frost: “I hated it at first. I was really against being called that, but it’s grown on me a lot. It’s nice being relied on. I like it. Knowing that I’m helping people makes me happy. I know I got a bunch of anomalous abilities that helps, but I know that a lot of it has to do with taking the initiative. Gotta put the powers I have to good use, otherwise, what’s the point in having it? If it means being called a ‘mom’ as a side effect, then hell, I’ll be the best mom there ever was…” Looks around, a bit embarrassed.

“… Plus, it helps make my relationship with my Moons and Healers more personal, despite what I am. Stars and Moons address me the same way, but Moons are a bit more relaxed. I dunno. Maybe it’s just in my blood to nanny people. Either way, I’m grateful that people see me as a parental figure. Means I’m doing something right.

As for how many more I’ll become one for… As many as possible, if it means helping them. I’ve also got a near 100% adoption rate for Realized Corrupted, so I can see it expanding in that area. No to mention we’re always getting new Healers from time to time. I always personally introduce myself to them… and I also have a 100% imprint rate for Healers.”

Frost

“When are you going to accept with your whole heart that you’re a mom? I mean… you just have to look at how you treat Joy, or the triplets…!”

Frost: “I do accept it, but whole heartedly might take just a bit longer. Feels a bit… immature to be calling myself a mother, less to the triplets who are, what, 42, or 43 this year? Then again, I’m thinking about it from the perspective of someone who comes from Earth. 40 years isn’t that long outside of a human’s lifespan. There are Moons who have lived twice that age. Blessed with hundreds of years. 100 years is considered young for Elves.

… But it’s not like I hate it or anything. I think I’ll truly be able to embrace it in due time. It’s just my stubbornness getting in the way. Honestly, I’ve already conceded myself to Acedia about being her mother. Might as well go all the way and call that other one my daughter too. What was it, the Vengeful Red Hooded Assassin? Either way, I guess it comes naturally to me. And hey, are you telling me you wouldn’t treat Joy or the triplets the same? Where there’s a tilted head, it shall be patted.”

Jury

“Why do you like to eat?”

Jury: “Because I’m always hungry, and I can’t always eat a certain someone.”

Frost

“Yes or no?”

Frost: “… Did you ask me this before? No.”

Frost

“Hello, we’ve been trying to reach you about your car’s extended warranty. Is this a good time to speak with you?”

Frost: “Jury… JURY! DÉJÀ VU! I’VE SEEN THIS BEFORE!”

Cer, Ber & Res

“Do you keep a little dirt under your pillow for the dirt man?”

Cer: “The dirt man? Who?”

Ber: “You’ve never heard of him? It’s like the tooth fairy, only for dirt.”

Cer: “I’ve got a lot of dirt on people, but the hell would I keep them under my pillow for this guy to take?”

Ber: “Well, I’ll keep enjoying the copper the dirt man leaves behind when he takes my dirt.”

Cer: “Wait, what? Really?”

Res: “… How did you Awaken?”

Carpalis

“Can I have my hand back?”

Carpalis: “Aww… But I liked it.”

Frost & Jury

“What’s your opinion on forks?”

Frost: “Inferior to spoons in every aspect. The spoon is incredibly versatile. You can use it to eat, stir powdered coffee, use it to measure ingredients, you name it, and the spoon can do it better.”

Jury: “What about pasta? Forks are cooler. It feels like you’re hunting for your food when you poke it.”

Frost: “We don’t eat much pasta to begin with. Not super popular compared to aggressively seasoned, grilled meats and veggies. Have you ever seen anyone carry a culinary kit on them? Even once?”

Jury: “I do!”

Frost: “Yours is more of a tactical feast kit than a culinary kit.”

Cer

“Have you ever eaten something off the floor?”

Cer: “Is that supposed to slight me, Exalted? Course mutts from Grandis have eaten off the floor. Dignity? Never heard of it. The only good dignity does when grub is on the line is keeping you hungry. Heh. The other day I had a Healer’s spilled milk off the floor. Nothing [Cleanse] can’t take care of. You think the Corrupted Frost calls Bacteria scares me? She thinks I’ll catch Salmon Ella one day. Between you and me? She doesn’t know I like salmon.”

Cer

“What’s your favorite smell?”

Cer: “The perfume of the forget me not. Roses are a close second. What. You lookin’ at me like you were expecting a different answer. ‘Wet dog’? What does that smell like?”

Jury

“What’s your favorite midnight snack?”

Jury: “An ice pop. Ice cubes. Icicles. Ice cream. Something frosty~

Michaela

“What are your thoughts on binary stars?”

Michaela: “It’s rare to find Stars working in unison. But they are fascinating. A delicate balance between two celestial bodies, locked in a dance where neither can leave nor embrace the other.” Holds Ilya’s hand “You will find that Stars will form an Asterism, or a larger Constellation. Take the seven Pleiades sisters.”

Frost, Jury, Cer, Ber, Res & Nav

“Do you ever wonder what’s going on inside their head?”

Frost: “Whose head? If it’s the others, then I like to think Jury’s brain works like a food processing factory. The triplets are fine, but I wanna pick apart what goes through Cer’s brain. I still don’t think she knows how many Healers are chasing her. As for Nav… she’s a black box. I’d love to know what’s going on in her mind.”

Jury: “I do! I wish this mantle would let me see the percentage of what a person is thinking about. Then we can compare how much we think about each other! Work 10%. Food 40%. Frost? 51% with a 1% margin of error!”

Cer: “I used to not concern myself about what goes on in a person’s life. We all deal with the same shit. But, things are different now. Gotta take into account how the mind works. Would’ve made a lot of things easier. Harder too.”

Ber: “With Cer? Absolutely. She Awakened, but I sometimes wonder if that means anything. I feel like she secretly twists the halo on her head to wind herself up every morning. I want one~”

Res: “I don’t know if there’s a moment where I wasn’t wondering what was going through someone’s head. Decisions aren’t made on a whim. The only person I can’t figure out is Nav.”

Nav: “I ponder over every decision made along every neural connection I am attuned to.”

Frost

“Would you like your own small tora?”

Frost: “Tora? Hmm… You know, that… kind of looks like if Jury was a Puff Puff. Or if Joy had white hair. Honestly, I’d be down to adopt- I mean, own one.”

Frost

“What is your favorite Warhammer 40k race, and what is your favorite legion?”

Frost: “It’s been a long time since I’ve heard about Warhammer 40k. Humans no doubt. I love the concept of the Grey Knights. You know, now that I think about it, aren’t Galia’s Second Branch Justicers basically Grey Knights?”

Frost

“Is someone defined by their power or their actions? And by the same occasion, can power be evil?”

Frost: “Actions. Power doesn’t mean anything if it’s not used. Inaction is also an action. That’s why I will not forgive myself or the Beholders for lounging around and accepting the status quota. I’d rather be defined by what I do for people, rather than what I am.

I also don’t believe there’s such thing as an evil power, aside from the Impuritas and Qliphoth. But it doesn’t make a person inherently evil. I tend to bash the Impuritas a lot, and for good reason, but there’s a lot of good people I know who are Impuritas. Then you have Dark Memoria with her Qliphoth Skills.”

Cer

“What do you think about all those (cute) Healers crowding you?”

Cer: “Keep them coming! One of the perks of being part of Frost’s security.”

Ber & Res

“What do you think about your sister’s Healer (harem) group?”

Ber: “Good for her. But I don’t like that she can’t be satisfied with one person. I, for one, am satisfied with Pearla. For diplomatic reasons.”

Res: “If Cer’s happy, and if the Healers are happy sharing that moron, then it’s fine. She probably isn’t aware of just how many Healers have her in their crosshairs. I guess her limit was released when she stopped smelling like a wet dog.”

“Please describe what you love about Cer.”

Confidential Black Wing: “A-Ahh? I just speak into this metal piece? Oh, about Cer? S-She’s… C-Cool. So strong… And has such a beautiful tail…!”

Confidential White Dove: “Cer had a pretty face when she was crying. I gave her flowers to cheer her up and I fell in love! Is that… too simple?”

Confidential Sanguine Healer: “She’s funny, and she seems to glow no matter where she is. I need that. The gloom of the War in Grandis hasn’t disappeared yet.”

Alcina, the Blood Angel/Old Age Witch: “Oh, babe? Yeah, she’s a loose cannon. Dad used to tell me that I can’t fall in love with someone who you can squeeze blood out of. At first I thought he wanted me to marry a Construct. But Constructs are lacking, ya know? Cer fits the criteria! Bonus is that I become the daughter in law of the Amalgam! And if I’m lucky, these bad boys up here get to be squee– Hey! I’m still talking!”

Jury

“Does Frost sometimes bite your tail while you’re asleep? What do you feel about it?”

Jury: “Frost never bites. Too dangerous. My tail wouldn’t be the same even after a nibble. I’m still looking into a gag to fix that for educational purposes. Speaking of biting, she does like drinking from my tail! If she ever needs something yummy on the go, then she just has to say the word!”

Frost: “Jury, can we not say this to a Librarian? This is going to be archived. Someone is going to find this.”

Jury: “Aww, come on. What are the chances that someone reads this exact conversation? Aren’t you more worried about it being recorded?”

Frost: “… Wait, we’re being recorded?”

Snap: “Bzzzt~! (Always have been~!).”

Jury

“How cute is a flustered Frost?”

Jury: “Sweeter than the sweetest sweets the Nexus can offer~!”

Cer, Ber & Res

“Do you ever wanna have a husband/wife? What about children? A family of your own making?”

Cer: “I want multiple spouses. More than I can count. At the minimum, I need a chest to rest my head in. Each titty has to be larger than my head. No exceptions. Soft thick thighs for my neck, foot and hand massagers. Must be different girls too. A tail and ear floofer. Then, I need a babe to feed me grapes ancient… uh, Frost called it ancient Greek God style. Children? Not for a long time. I have a family anyway. Pretty content as it is.”

Ber: I have someone in mind. A woman who fought with me a while back. Not giving names though… Ok. It starts with a ‘P’, but that’s all I’ll give you. I’m thinking of disguising it as a diplomatic engagement one day. But, I don’t wanna dress everything up. Maybe that’s a flaw of mine? Wanting things to be pretty… Having children might be hard too. Perhaps one day I’ll consider it.”

Res: “… I have no plans or even thought about it really. I’m just happy to experience what the world has to offer. When I get burned out, then I’ll ask Frost for some advice. By then she’d probably have a child or two on the way. Don’t ask me how. Jury’s tail isn’t as innocent as it looks. And Ignis can do bio-wizardry.”

Arbiter, Jury & Relevant Angels

“Why do you have tails instead of wings to signify ranking?

Jury: “Because tails are more aesthetically pleasing. I think? Would you rather a wolf with fluffy wings, or a fluffy tail?”

Arbiter: “That logic does not apply to wolves. The fault lies with what Angels birthed from my blood truly are, compared to the Faux Angels birthed from the singularity of humanity and the essence of the Captured Star. Those ones may carry wings like the Angels in their tales. As for us, and myself as a Star governed by a tale I’ve yet to fathom, I am grounded by the tails I carry. Ranks are determined by the number of tails as they allow for greater access to my Divine Arts, and the Abilities I have passed onto them. Warp for example. Jury lacks this, because she is modeled after my final Angel; Elysia.”

Uriel: “What Michaela means is that the idea of an ‘Angel’ with wings comes from humanity’s vision of an Angel. But Michaela, my accursed Creator, was born from a vision of an Angel far different from a contemporary depiction. The Fruit of Light depicts the discrepancy well. There was a time when humans considered Angels to be interlocking rings riddled with eyes and wings. But Michaela did have wings, because she chose to mold herself in the image of a human.

Arbiter: “Stars are harder to fathom compared to the Corrupted. Corrupted are tied to human experiences and worldly events. Stars are beyond that… But even so, I still believe that Stars have a finite limit. Corrupted on the other hand… theoretically, can become worse than a Star… I’ve gone off track. But heed this, Librarian, fear not the light of the Stars, but the darkness that surrounds it.”

Frost & Jury

“Can Frost become adult Frost? Like the soldier Frost? If she can, what would you feel about that Jury?”

Frost: “Hey, I’m already an adult. I’m what, 20 something years old? A couple million if you add the Cycles. Are you taking the fact that I was born into the Nexus like 6 months ago literally? Or, are you making fun of my size? I’m not that damned short! 160-163cm IS NOT SHORT! It’s just that everyone around me is so big!”

Jury: “All Frost’s are great! Frost is perfect as she is! The tail to body ratio right now lets me wrap her in several loops. If Frost gets too big, then we lose a lot of versatility. That means some positions become unavailable.”

Frost: “She means how she hugs me. Literally that’s it.”

Jury: “Frost gets embarrassed so easily~”

Frost: “Yeah, and so what if I do?”

Frost: “I get the feeling that Earth probably doesn’t look all that different from the Earth in this game. So they call it a ‘Distortion’ huh? Probably modeled after the real phenomenon of cognitive distortion.”

Jury: “What a sad game. Frost would be a completely different person if the Ateliers had slums like the Backstreets of that world. No magic though?”

Ignis: “Mn. Why do I have to gamble to get characters? Bad for the brain.”

Cer: “Where are the Demi-Humans at? It’s just humans going through what normal people do in their everyday lives. Wanting to survive, but I appreciate that they’re trying to do some good.”

Ber: “Because Demi-Humans don’t exist in Frost’s homeworld. The game looks like it’s based on a future Earth. I thought Frost said Earth was a paradise compared to Elysia. Or was it too much of a paradise that people wanted to explore a dystopian version of their reality?”

Res: “Art imitates life. The Corps in the game rule each city district like a kingdom. Sounds like a cautionary tale of what was happening on Earth. Ateliers and Kingdoms here rule because of their Gifts. Not that different in Limbus Company.”

Jury: “Sorry, there was a story? I was just bopping along to the music~ P+Enter is how you play, right?”

Ignis: “Lots of weird monsters in both. Mn. I want to categorize slimes the same way. But would the slimes like that?”

Cer: “The last days of ImpulseWorks reminds me of my last mission. Seeing people in black suits being sent to destroy the facility is kinda the opposite of me stepping in to salvage the Site from nearly tripping the Seventh Seal.”

Ber: “I’m not a fan of how excessively suits are used.”

Res: “All I can say is thank goodness I’m neither a nugget or an ImpulseWorks Worker.”

Nav: “… Angela chose to reject humanity. Roland chose forgiveness. I don’t understand… You were wrong, Angela.”

Galia: “Lobotomy Corporation is comparatively tame to the conditions I’ve seen children working in back on Earth. Earth’s history is far more despicable. Love Town was… not quite as I was expecting. Hardly shocking, given what else could have happened aboard those trains.”

Marionette

“Who is in control? The puppeteer pulling the strings? Or the puppets at the end of said string?”

Marionette: “Neither. The puppets are guided by the tugs of the puppeteer. But the puppeteer is guided by the narrative. We all have a role to fulfil upon this great stage.”

Jury: Eyes glint “Right now?”

Don’t get me started on my tail’s [REDACTED]! She loves the [REDACTED] form and when I [REDACTED]! I wanted to try a 240-hour marathon too! The Isolation Sphere would only count it as a single day!”

Frost: “… Thank goodness for the CognitiO Filters. Or they’d find out I wanted to get pampered. Wait a second… Oh… Right, it doesn’t work for me.”

Sinder

“What do you think about Elysia?”

Sinder: “… Elysia… Was a… a… [Unintelligible].”

“What do you think would happen if Frost just snaps?”

Jury: “Another Corruption. Frost has said that she is also a risk to the Nexus. We also don’t know how the Nexus will react the next time she snaps. The throes of the Nexus have been getting worse.”

Beholders & Archetypes

“What are your thoughts on an entity such as a robot or a cyborg, an artificial lifeform being capable of using its own magic? Keep in mind it is a fully artificial being, able to use its own magic.”

“Regarding my first question, I have for you all some VERY interesting footage of an encounter with such entities. It's a bit hard to keep up, but if you pay careful attention, you'll see that these beings are capable of not just short-range teleportation but can turn invisible as well! Apparently, they are known as chronohunters, cybernetic beings wielding highly advanced weaponry, and capable of using magic as well. Robotic beings, fully artificial beings, that are able to use their own magic, it's insane! And if what I've heard is true, there is also a variant of this entity capable of NECROMANCY, supposedly known as a chronomancer. A robot able to raise the dead... What are your thoughts on all this?

Beholder E.: “It would be an accomplishment and the first of its kind. Infecta Rot and soul-less Constructs do not use their own magic. Auxiliary magical inscriptions and magic-enchanted gear aids them.”

Marionette: “I have no thoughts. But it reminds me of the Construct Herald who wished to be a human boy. Magic is one element of humanity they aspired to attain.”

Galia: “Artificial life lacking a human element is deplorable. Nav does not count. She was made using the Light. Short-range teleportation is the only interesting part. It can Warp. As for necromancy… that is problematic.”

Jury: “I guess that means someone managed to create a soul, I think? That’d be impressive.”

Knalzark: “Detestable. Machines have but one function. They are created with servitude in mind. When the first of its kind emerges, and when it becomes publicly known how to create them, what is stopping the Kingdoms from replacing their people with machines unburdened with the drawbacks of magic?”

Umbra: “Does it matter what can and cannot use magic? All possibilities exist, save for the possibility of a lasting ever after.”

Abyssal Mother: “[Unintelligible].”

Satania: “A machine capable of Warping… gotta get our hands on it.”

Carpalis: “It must have an iron will to be able to attain magic on its own. Hehe…”

Descartes 3: “If it has no capacity to think, then, it has no value.”

Frost: “At the very least, it gives us hope for a backup plan if we can’t wish Nav a human body. Nav might be able to use magic to give herself tastebuds. Magic can work like that, right?”

Anna: “I’m not too fond of machines. Nothing against Nav! It’s just that a cyborg capable of using magic reminds me of the old machines that were used during the Hello City Incursion back in the old world. Those machines had magic, or an ability close to it. It predates the book burnings, so I don’t know too much about it.”

Star Child: Writes an equation

Magus: “Let it be. My great machine friend carries a gift, and a gift they shall be entitled to. Let us not judge whether it can or cannot. We should only judge on how that gift is used.”

Lailah: “Hypothetically, if it were possible without the Light, then it would be an agent of Qliphoth, or a Star in of itself. Rare, will it be a being born from the Rivers. It may be utilizing a Corrupted Item. In any case, I’m concerned more whether it is capable of cognition.”

Michaela: “I would like to meet its creator to ask why they created it.”

The Director: “If that is how it was designed, then why question it?”

“If you were the Head of the Nexus, how would you run it and what would you change?”

Galia: “Accelerate the Nexus’ zone of influence. Draft as many available Blessed and arbitrate the law beginning from Brandar, until I have complete control over Elysia. Countless people will die. And that is acceptable for the sake of peace.”

Marionette: “Bestow a String upon the Blessed. Expand the current Stage to a Theater of the World. I would change whatever the Strings require from me.”

Knalzark: “We need to be brutal. The Amalgam is too soft when it comes to dealing with enemy territory. There are no innocents on either side. As with what we did to the Dragons, we shall to the enemies. Or would she rather prolong their suffering by displacing them?”

Umbra: “The Nexus… operates how it wishes. I’m here for a long time, not a good time.”

Beholder E.: “Nothing. The Amalgam’s ideals align with mine. She has proven to be a capable leader of the Nexus. As expected of the Head.”

Abyssal Mother: “[REDACTED].”

Satania: “As long as we’re getting Repenters, then I’m happy. We’ve seen a large boost thanks to her.”

Anna: “Not sure… I’m not a leader so… I’d constantly be asking what Sinder would do in my position.”

Star Child: Hops up and down cheerily

Magus: “I’m afraid I must remain silent on this matter. My namesake and role as the Archetype of Hope, and as my previous alias as the great Star Polaris, I guide from a distance.

Lailah: “… I’m tired…”

Michaela: “Neither do I have a comment. I will just enjoy my time with my daughter. I have my own preparations independent from the Head’s.”

“What do you think about Mili songs?”

Frost: “Why do these sound familiar?”

Jury: “They’re bops!”

Cer: “They’re kinda nice.”

Ber: “Very pretty!”

Res: “From an artist to another artist, I can tell they put a lot of passion into their music.”

Ignis: Bobs head in tune with RTRT.

Nav: “Word.exe… It seems to resonate with me.”

Frost & Nav

“Thinking back to when you came up with Nav’s name, no offence, but wouldn’t Aria have been better? Aria can also mean guiding light, which is what Nav was and still is since then, right?”

Frost: “In hindsight, yeah. Nav probably wasn’t the best name. But at the time we didn’t know the importance of the Light. Plus, you’re giving me too much credit to come up with a name better than a cut down version of ‘Navigator’. Besides, ‘Nav’ also coincidentally lines up with the Navigator of a Site. Lailah’s role was similar to the modern Navigator. Also, Aria doesn’t work aside from people close to Nav. No one else can hear her voice, so she can’t really guide them.”

Nav: “Everything Frost said is true. I’d rather have a humanized name stemming from the artificial than to be anointed as something close to transhuman, such as the Light. Magus, Frost, Cer – they have their own light to carry the significance of such a name. Furthermore, Aria has closer ties to music than to the concept of light.

Black Wings, Sanguine Doves & White Doves

“Please don’t be offended by what I’m about to ask, but despite everything you’ve endured, do you think there are people out there who genuinely miss the Healers of the old? Perhaps there were some who considered you big sisters or family. How do you think they’d see you now?”

Black Wings Representative – 1 of the 7 Ravens: “There are enough Healers of the old to satisfy the needs of the rest of the world. Our sphere of influence is still mostly contained in the Nex Megalopolis. You also misinterpret what it means to be a Black Wing. The news of the Head and our Flocks has hardly painted a pleasant picture of us to an outsider. Our kindness persists. Family and friends have not been cut off, aside from those we deem parasitic. Immediate family… were shocked. Some refused to recognize us. But we will not be held down by them any longer.”

Sanguine Doves: “They can miss us. [REDACTED] them. I’d sooner tear out my heart than to hear them complain about a Healer no longer incapable of violence. We had to lose a loved one to become like this. Healers lose more people than anyone else, and they believe they have the audacity to miss Healers of the old? Because we can complain? [REDACTED] them to hell and back.”

White Doves: “Family and close friends are still in contact with us despite the changes! In case you aren’t aware, families of Blessed get to live in Atlas! Families of Healers get to live in Sector J, Q and K free of expenses! Friends also get Guild benefits! But they’re always being audited. It’s not uncommon for a friend to turn against a Healer. One of my Healer friends became a Black Wing because she was betrayed by someone she trusted… I think, deep down, people are afraid of us changing because we were one of the few things in the world that was always constant. I guess it’s terrifying to know that a Healer can become a monster. Um… I’m not scary, so… Please don’t ask something so sad.”

Ilya

“Let’s make-believe for a moment. If you had a father, what would you want him to be like, and do you think he’d get along with your mother?”

Ilya: “I’d want a father with wings and as many tails as mother. Mother is stronger than anyone I know. But I want to see her step down from the top for once, and fall into the big arms of a man she loves… I-I promise I haven’t been reading anything! Um… I like to think he’d get along with mother. I can’t see why they wouldn’t, if they had me. But then again… I don’t know the circumstances that gave birth to me. But… I know that it wasn’t out of contempt or tragedy, because I know how much mother loves me. I’m sure… whoever father was, if he existed, must have wanted me too. I’m sure he was a human, haha~”

Descartes 3

“Just curious if you don’t mind me asking, what were your initial reactions when you ended up splitting into five? Were you able to recognize each other?”

Descartes 3: “[REDACTED]. It will not be archived. You are fortunate that I am discouraged by the Head to eliminate personnel without cause.”

Descartes 3

“How does it feel to be a 5 person-body? Do you share the same senses? And if one of your body dies, then what happens?”

Descartes 3: “We don’t share anything. Our personas stem from one whole. We are closer to individuals, except there can only be one Reality Principle. I suppose you haven’t heard of the Big Five. That is what we are called internally. The Reality Principle is the persona that is allowed to carry an Ego. Though, in theory, it is the Reality Principle that guides the Ego… I could go on about the Id, and the theoretical Superego, but we’d be here all day, no?

When one of us dies, nothing will change. We will return as many times as it takes. But be warned, Beholder from outside the Nexus… A death from Descartes, only reduces our Sanity Tokens. Fear those who carry the Tokens, or the lesser known Counters of Sanity and Insanity.”
