Chapter 260: A discussion over breakfast

Chapter 260: A discussion over breakfast

After her conversation with the hybrids, Coco immediately made her way down the wooden staircase of the inn, her footsteps making soft sounds against the oak wood.

The married couple had left her room and went back to their own, and she was quite sure that Sinclair will do something that will rock Alithe’s morning world based on the dark skinned man’s gaze.

It was the kind of gaze that a person in love would throw towards the person they love.

Coco shook her head and focused on descending the stairs.

She could hear the sounds of the inn’s pub from below, the sounds of clinking glasses and hushed conversations filtering up the stairs.

She paused for a moment at the bottom of the stairs, taking a deep breath before steeling herself to whatever’s about to happen and pushing through the pub door, ready to have breakfast with her husbands.

Coco’s gaze swept over the crowded pub, scanning the sea of tipsy patrons and groups of chattering guards, seeking out two specific people.

Her expression remained neutral, but there was a hint of unease in her gaze as she looked around.

The sound of the crowds seemed to blur in her ears, her focus solely on the hunt for her husbands, and every so often her gaze would flicker towards a stranger before moving on, her eyes searching for the familiar faces of Zaque and Quizen.

Coco walked through the packed pub, her path navigating the maze of tables, patrons, guards with a practiced skill.

Her gaze scanned the area and finally landed on the corner of the room, her eyes locking on her husbands, Zaque and Quizen, seated around their usual table.

Coco made her way through the crowded pub, dodging the rowdy patrons and weaving around tables, her gaze fixed firmly on her destination– her usual table.

The usual table was nestled in a corner of the pub, a bit of a distance from the boisterous group of guards, and it was there where Coco saw her husbands sitting, their backs to her.

Coco approached the table where her husbands were sitting, a slight amusement on her face as she looked at them.

She stopped beside them, clearing her throat loudly to get their attention and she asked, "Did you guys already order something to eat?"

Zaque and Quizen both turned to face Coco as she spoke, their heads tilting in her direction, their faces lit up slightly in surprise because they did not expect her to be done so quickly with whatever she was planning to discuss with the two men from earlier.

However, Zaque’s and Quizen’s expressions softened, their initial surprise melting away.

"I did." Zaque answered with a small apologetic smile, "I hope I didn’t overstep. I thought you would want to eat as soon as you’re done with your meeting."

Despite the unease they felt when they saw the two men walking inside her room, their gazes still held a hint of gentleness, a subtle acknowledgement for what she deemed important to her.

"No, you didn’t." Coco assured Zaque with a smile as she slid to the opposite side of their chairs, "You’re actually right, I do want to eat as soon as I can. I’m hungry."

Now that she’s sitting in front of them and quite closely, they couldn’t help, but notice the small details in her appearance.

The way her hair was still slightly disheveled, the loose shirt that hung off her shoulder which shows a little skin of her chest, and the slight tiredness in her eyes— all of it only endeared her more to them.

Zaque and Quizen couldn’t help, but stare at the strip of skin revealed by the loose shirt she was wearing, their gazes were drawn to the exposed flesh, their eyes tracing the contour of her shoulder as if it was a long lost treasure.

The way the shirt hung loosely on her frame, the fabric slipping off one shoulder, leaving a tantalizing sliver of her skin exposed, made their breath hitch.

The sight was enough to make their hearts beat a little faster, the desire tugging at their souls.

Zaque was the first to look away and forced a smile at Coco, hoping to distract himself from ogling her, so he asked, his voice a bit gravelly, "How did your morning meeting go?"

His eyes flicked back to her, taking in her bed-head and her loose shirt, before returning to her face.

He tried to keep his tone neutral, but Zaque’s voice held a hint of restraint, especially when the mere sight of her exposed skin earlier had stirred him in ways he wasn’t ready to admit verbally just yet.

"It was good." Coco answered, ignoring the way they ogled her with intense stares, and smiled at them.

Strangely though, she doesn’t mind the way they look at her, like they want to jump over the table and tackle her down to the floor— no, she does mind, but she just doesn’t care.

It’s not like they will touch her without permission, right?

Zaque nodded his head after hearing Coco’s response, his gaze still somewhat distracted by Coco’s disheveled appearance, his mind preoccupied.

Before he could form a reply, the waiter of the pub approached their table and skillfully placed their orders on the table before them, the plates clinking softly against the wood.

The steam from the food rose in delicate, swirling smoke, the scent of it rich and enticing, their dishes looking inviting and appetizing.

Zaque’s gaze flickered between the food and Coco, his thoughts divided between the appetizing meal and the woman sitting across from him.

"Thank you. I’ll walk over to pay for these after I’m done." Coco turned to the waiter and thanked him with a smile, her voice soft and warm, before redirecting her attention to the mediators across from her.

"Since you’re already here, I may as well discuss something with you, Zaque." Coco said, picking up her utensils.

All Zaque could do is tense up.
