Chapter 145: Chapter 66: Encirclement_2

"I know, in my heart, the Ember Church is no longer human," Li Yelai nodded solemnly.

As for the real humans he had actually killed, there was only Wang De. The rest were either Abnormalities or twisted Sufferers.

Directly attacking other humans came with some psychological pressure, but if it involved the Ember Church,

there would be no issue—what kind of humans were they?

Draped in human skin, committing acts of ghosts!

How many people had died at their hands? Died in their experiments? Li Yelai wouldn’t hold back against such scum!

Soon, the convoy arrived at a small alley a few hundred meters away from a factory.

Aside from Li Yelai’s team, there were two other official convoys. They all spread out from a distance.

Next, they set up fire points and gathering points at various strategic heights.

Li Yelai even saw the established Plasma Cannons.

That’s right, the operation had to be swift. They needed to uproot the stronghold as quickly as possible.

Li Yelai thought to himself, clenching the Big Black Umbrella in his hand.

He put on the Bluetooth earpiece connected to the Communicator, ready to receive auxiliary intelligence from the coordinator at any moment.

Then, he and his teammates disguised themselves, donning assault gear, and got into a Scavenger-style modified armored vehicle.

They would approach the heavily guarded factory area under the guise of Scavengers here for a trade.

And when the operation began, they would rise up and strike down those Resisters!

...

On the other side, in the brightly lit factory area.

A young man slouched in the boss’s chair in an office, playing with a purple syringe in his left hand.

His right hand was under the desk as if searching for something.

Beside him, a middle-aged man humbly knelt on the ground.

Soon, the young man’s body shuddered, then he exhaled deeply a murky breath.

"Very good, she served me well, even though she’s just a lowly Old Human," the young man chuckled.

Under the desk, a pretty young woman with a flushed face knelt next to the middle-aged man, exhibiting extreme humility.

The young man seemed somewhat pleased. He then tossed the syringe to the middle-aged man as if bestowing charity.

"Take it, this is what you deserve." The young man was not old, but his face bore an air of arrogance. "I hope you can transcend your mortal flesh and become a fellow brethren like us."

The middle-aged man excitedly pocketed the pharmaceutical and bowed respectfully.

He completely ignored the young man’s arrogance and disrespect, indifferent even to his own daughter’s plight,

becoming all the more humble and reverent.

This gave the young man great satisfaction.

Ever since he had become a Spiritual Ability User, he had been enjoying everything he had once dared not even dream of.

Those zealous non-spiritual believers would offer up anything to please him. It was inevitable—after all, wasn’t he the New Human?

The young man himself had once been ordinary, taken by the Church after the Fantasy Band incident.

Becoming a Spiritual Ability User was a meteoric rise.

He could obtain unimaginable resources and privileges within the Church.

The Catalyst he casually produced would make non-spiritual believers desperately crave it.

Even though it was merely a catalyst to awaken the Soul Well, with unstable effects and a success rate of less than 30%, it still made the believers give up everything for it.

Everyone wanted to climb higher, but he had already climbed atop their heads.

The young man thought to himself as he looked at the woman, ’Though lowly, she’s a fine toy. I better enjoy her before she becomes one of us...’

Just then, the office phone suddenly rang.

The middle-aged man looked nervously at the young man. The young man frowned but nodded slightly.

Then, the middle-aged man picked up the phone, rapidly reported something, and covering the mouthpiece, relayed to the young man, "It’s the Scavenger squad we hired earlier; they’ve returned with some items from outside the city."

The young man nodded, "Then let them in. Don’t delay business. The Church wouldn’t be where it is today without the efforts of every believer."

"Yes." The middle-aged man nodded and then told the person on the other end of the phone, "Let them come in. But be cautious of any trouble."

"What’s there to worry about? Just Scavengers..." The young man chuckled and then stood up, walking out of the office.

Indeed, he wanted to see for himself which bold Scavenger dared to tread on this place with him here.

This place, ostensibly just an ordinary factory, was actually a stronghold guarded by several Spiritual Ability User believers!

...

Meanwhile, Li Yelai, sitting in the back of the armored vehicle, watched as the factory gate slowly opened and let out a slow breath, gripping the Big Black Umbrella in his hand.

In his earpiece, the coordinator’s voice came through, "Night General, we’ve detected an increase in your heartbeat. Please calm down; it’s not yet time to act."

"Mhm..." Li Yelai responded quietly. He looked around the factory, where many eyes were watching.

Even on some higher levels of the factory, sentries were closely watching.

There seemed to be Dark Guards lurking in the shadows.

Sure enough, it was heavily guarded.

Li Yelai thought as the convoy had just parked.

He saw a carefree young man carrying an axe and walking out of the factory, looking unabashedly at the convoy.

Then, he seemed to notice the freshly dismounted Heavy Knight, pausing in surprise.

After all, the Heavy Knight had a rather youthful appearance.

She looked like a minor, though she was about the same age as Li Yelai, around twenty-three.

Such a face made her stand out in the team.

The axe-wielding young man approached the vehicle and teased the Heavy Knight, "Little girl, what’s good about being a Scavenger? You might as well stay here. Big brother will take care of you."
