Chapter 140: Chapter 64 Preparing to Encircle and Suppress

Zhang Wuji’s mom once told him, "The prettier the woman, the more likely she is to deceive!"

Doll was undoubtedly a beautiful girl, delicate in features, tall in stature, and fair in skin.

If not for the curse that made her appear blurry in photos, no one else would be able to truly see her face.

Apart from Li Yelai, no one could really see her true face. She was bound to become the goddess of many people’s dreams.

But, such a beautiful girl was not very good at lying.

At the moment, her cheeks were clearly flushed, her eyes brimming with tears, her body trembling slightly.

Yet, she struggled to swallow the chunk of meat in her mouth, stubbornly saying, "It’s not spicy, it tastes good..."

Her voice clearly had a hint of hoarseness and a sob.

"You were crying from the spiciness, weren’t you?" Li Yelai was greatly shocked.

Although the two were meal companions, in the end, it was like begging for food.

Li Yelai couldn’t just eat without contributing, so he borrowed Doll’s kitchen and made a few dishes.

His cooking skills were quite good, after all, he had a shut-in little sister who couldn’t go out.

And since Doll liked spicy food, he made a dish of fried meat with chili peppers.

This time, however, it was a bit too spicy.

Even Li Yelai himself couldn’t bear it and planned to throw it away.

And Doll was even more red-faced and teary-eyed from the spiciness.

Perhaps to save face for Li Yelai, she insisted it was delicious.

Watching Doll with her tear-filled eyes, Li Yelai felt deeply guilty.

"Don’t force yourself! Next time, I won’t make a mistake," Li Yelai comforted her, pointing to his own somewhat reddened mouth, "I can’t even eat it."

Doll glanced at the chili pepper stir-fried meat in front of her. It was a dish Li Yelai made for her, so she couldn’t just throw it away. Although it was spicy, she didn’t want to waste his kindness.

But upon hearing Li Yelai’s "next time," she still sniffled, murmuring softly, "Mhm..."

Seeing Doll agree, Li Yelai got up to go to the kitchen and dispose of the failed dish.

Doll quietly picked up her cup and started drinking the chilled beverage, soothing the discomfort on her lips and tongue.

However, as she drank, Doll’s complexion grew even rosier.

Because she realized she might have taken the wrong cup... she was holding the cup that Li Yelai had drunk from.

"Is this... an indirect

This thought made her cheeks burn even more, and she felt so embarrassed that she wanted to bury herself in the ground. But hearing footsteps from the kitchen,

Doll quickly set down the cup, pretending as if nothing had happened, and picked up the beverage bottle to pour a drink into Li Yelai’s cup.

After Li Yelai sat down, she handed the cup to him.

"Thank you." Li Yelai, oblivious to anything out of the ordinary, took the cup and drank.

Seeing Doll’s face still very red, he couldn’t help but apologize, "I’m sorry."

"It’s okay..." Doll glanced at the cup and muttered guiltily, "The spiciness is... quite nice."

Then, the two of them started chatting while eating.

Of course, most of the time, it was Li Yelai talking and Doll listening.

"University students are really a fascinating bunch. The student in the neighboring dorm sleeps at four, wakes up at six, and still runs to the cafeteria. They have unbelievably strong constitutions!"

"But sometimes, they’re incredibly fragile."

"Every time there’s a class, there are plenty of absences. Cramps, fainting, heartbreak. The excuses are endless."

Li Yelai complained, "Then, I see the guy who ’cramped up’ and took a sick leave playing basketball on the court after class, even dunking."

Doll chuckled upon hearing this, "Are you... happy at the university?"

"Not bad," Li Yelai nodded, "it really let me experience quite a bit. We tried every cafeteria in that university. Sometime, I’ll take you to try it out; there’s a limited-edition roast chicken in one cafeteria that is truly exceptional!"

Doll smiled and nodded, "Sure. Is it really that good?"

"Yeah, the thing I remember most is Cheese eating two whole chickens by herself... How can she eat like that and not gain weight?"

Li Yelai was genuinely puzzled by this.

Cheese didn’t really like sweets, but she was cursed with a sugar addiction, which made her frequently consume sugary foods. But despite eating so much sugar and having a good appetite, she never seemed to gain weight.

That’s just not scientific.

Doll’s smile began to fade and, out of reflex, she grabbed the hem of her T-shirt, feeling a little aggrieved, but still said, "Maybe the curse burns off the sugar, or perhaps it’s because she exercises regularly."

Li Yelai nodded and didn’t think much of it before continuing, "Then, it’s onto the Kaidan... That security guard is abnormal and really ugly!"

The two chatted away while finishing dinner.

Li Yelai picked up his bowl and went into the kitchen.

However, after washing the dishes, when Li Yelai walked out of the kitchen, he saw Doll nervously and awkwardly proposing, "There’s a little time before the late-night snack, shall we do something to pass the time?"

Looking at the girl’s long legs and shy demeanor, Li Yelai fell into an odd silence.

It was because he had promised Doll at noontime that he would make up for a missed meal today.

So, besides dinner, they had to eat a late-night snack.

But as a man, it didn’t seem right to stay at Doll’s house all the time.

Li Yelai was thinking of going downstairs to the branch to train for a while, or walking around nearby, and returning to Doll’s place when it was closer to late-night snack time.

But Doll suggested doing something to pass the time, clearly wanting him to stay there until it was time for the snack.
