Chapter 123: Chapter 56 Master of Horror Tales

"You think just because you say it’s official, it is official?"

The students were grumbling inwardly.

They were skeptical about Li Yelai’s identity, but seeing the axe in his hands, no one dared to voice any opposition.

This was the man who had fought his way through a dozen Horror Tale Abnormalities right before their eyes!

A powerful combatant capable of breaking the rules of Horror Tales. With his protection, perhaps they could truly escape this cursed place.

Moreover, Li Yelai planned to take the injured with him, a far cry from Huang Du who had abandoned them to fend for themselves.

This gave the group a flicker of trust in him.

Although fearful, they still followed Li Yelai’s instructions.

They returned to the classroom they’d been in before to bandage the still unconscious injured in preparation to leave together.

These people had been attacked by statues, but at least they were not yet dead.

If left here, however, their fate was uncertain.

Previously, Huang Du had planned to leave these injured to die. He would rather they were dead.

Now, since Li Yelai had taken over, he must take them along intact.

This was the duty of an official Processor.

Li Yelai searched Huang Du and found a key, a flashlight, an access card, and a mirror.

These might be the key props for some Horror Tales, Li Yelai thought as he took all the items.

At that moment, the class president, a young man about the same age as Li Yelai, asked, "Brother Wang..."

He called Li Yelai "Brother Wang" because the official identity given to Li Yelai was as a disciple of the Wang Family.

"My last name is not Wang." Li Yelai glanced at him and said, "Just call me Night General, that’s my official code name."

"Code name? So...Night General, are you from a special department of the Guard Hall?" the class president asked, clearly concerned about the combat prowess Li Yelai had shown and eager to uncover more about his identity.

"Not from the Guard Hall, but the responsibilities are similar. It’s all about protecting the people," Li Yelai replied.

This conversation oddly reminded him of the first time he met Yang Chen and Cheese.

He couldn’t help but chuckle and said, "Don’t worry, I’m here, and I’ll ensure your safety."

The class president could only nod, then asked, "Night General, why do you say this Horror Tale is related to Huang Du? Is it because of that cabinet?"

It appeared the class president, too, had finally noticed the recent shift.

Previously everyone had been too tense to realize.

Now reminded by Li Yelai, they felt something off about Huang Du’s actions.

An unsettling calmness that was completely uncharacteristic of Huang Du.

Moreover, Huang Du, having controlled the situation, had asked Li Yelai, who had just appeared, to open a trap-laden cabinet.

At that moment, everyone thought Li Yelai was just unlucky.

But thinking about it now, that might have been a premeditated trap by Huang Du. Who keeps so many glass beads in a cabinet?

"Yes, the one who has prepared to trigger a Horror Tale trap in advance must be the instigator or related to the instigator," Li Yelai did not hide this point: "So keep an eye on him. Don’t let him play any more tricks."

"It was really him? And I was thankful to him!"

"He almost killed us!"

"He’s the reason my boyfriend is still unconscious!"

Hearing this, several students grew furious and began to punch and kick the unconscious Huang Du.

After being stopped by Li Yelai, they tied up Huang Du.

"But why would he do this?" the class president turned to look at the beaten and swollen Huang Du, incredulous, "We have no grudges with Huang Du! Why would he throw us into such danger?"

Li Yelai understood his confusion.

He himself had no grudges with Huang Du, yet Huang Du had ruthlessly betrayed him.

If it weren’t for Li Yelai being a strong Spiritual Ability User, he probably would have been killed by the statues.

Such a person, in pursuit of some goal, would not care about sacrificing others. A typical egotist.

After being betrayed by Huang Du once,

Li Yelai was actually still wary of this group of students, unsure if any of them were Huang Du’s accomplices.

But it seemed unlikely at the moment.

Later, when meeting up with his teammates, he would have Cheese probe them with Ravings.

With this in mind, Li Yelai asked the others, "Does this Huang Du have any particularly good friends?"

There might still be someone behind the scenes, likely someone close to Huang Du.

After all, there was no Horror Tales Notebook on Huang Du’s person. There must be another person holding the notebook.

The class president shook his head, "I’m not really familiar with him."

Other students responded, "He’s usually quite reclusive. He doesn’t talk much in class, but I’ve heard he’s close with two of his dorm mates."

"Dorm mates, huh?" Li Yelai thought, and if signals were restored, he’d inform the officials.

The officials should immediately locate those two individuals. They were highly suspicious.

"He will receive the punishment he deserves, but first, we need to get out. Follow me."

Li Yelai took the lead with the Hot Melt Axe, heading forward.

A dozen students followed, carrying the injured and Huang Du.

They crossed the dimly lit corridor, where, due to the effects of Li Yelai’s curse, all the light bulbs were inevitably broken during the earlier fight.

The students didn’t realize this, some thinking it was an effect of a Horror Tale, others believing it was due to poor school maintenance.

Soon, they crossed the corridor and reached the stairs again.

But this time, just as they approached the stairway, Li Yelai heard a heavy set of footsteps.
