Chapter 119: Chapter 54 Kaidan Begins_2

So, as soon as she lay on the soft quilt, sleep crept in quickly.

"Ah, you’re too carefree, able to sleep like this even when you’re alone with a guy. Lucky for you I’m a gentleman, otherwise you’d see how sinister people can be," Li Yelai grumbled.

He felt that Cheese was too easy to take advantage of, although it was him who was taking advantage of her... cough.

He hesitated for a moment, but then decided to go wake Cheese up.

If he let her continue sleeping, she would probably sleep until tomorrow. Starfire wouldn’t even dare to come back.

Besides, staying overnight in a guy’s room wasn’t good for Cheese’s reputation. Their coworkers might get the wrong idea.

So, Li Yelai approached the bed, reaching out to tug at the pillow.

As she felt movement, Cheese, somewhat groggy, opened her eyes and looked around. Seeing Li Yelai by her bed,

she yawned and said, "People wake Sleeping Beauty with a kiss, and you pull at the pillow? Your Prince Charming act lacks professionalism! Let’s do it over!"

"Get real, the one riding the white horse isn’t necessarily the prince, could be Tang Seng," Li Yelai retorted. "And you’re not Snow White, you’re Bajie! Get up, Bajie!"

"That’s so mean!" Cheese sat up, stretching languidly.

As she moved, even the loose sweatshirt couldn’t conceal her curvy figure.

Li Yelai asked, "Did you finish reading the intel?"

"Nearly, I have a good memory. It’s one of the perks of having high Spiritual Energy," Cheese chuckled, then bent down to put on her shoes.

As she leaned over, her loose sweatshirt collar drooped, revealing a view from her neckline. Li Yelai, standing, caught sight of the scenery, and it seemed Cheese, still groggy from sleep, didn’t notice at all.

"How much advantage do you want people to take of you? If I get a nosebleed one day, it’ll be your fault!" Li Yelai sighed, quickly helping her tighten her neckline.

He had no idea that as Cheese bowed her head, her cheeks had flushed red.

Though he was always teasing, it was merely verbal proficiency and not a lack of shyness.

Perhaps she was too relaxed, or perhaps she trusted him too much.

She didn’t guard against Li Yelai, resulting in frequent blunders, like a scatterbrain.

Li Yelai’s action made her cheeks burn hotter, her heartbeat quickening.

But she still managed to say, "Then... next time let me get a look at yours!"

"What a pervert!" Li Yelai clutched at his chest.

Cheese had already walked into the bathroom, and after splashing cold water on her face a few times, she managed to calm her flushed cheeks.

As if nothing had happened, her face broke into a mild smile again: "Come on, let’s go eat. I heard the chicken at cafeteria number three in this school tastes really good."

...

Days passed by. It had been the fifth day since Li Yelai and the others had disguised themselves as college students.

They moved effortlessly between areas and classrooms based on their class schedule.

From time to time, they even saw a number of familiar coworkers.

That evening’s elective class was in art appreciation at the art gallery.

But upon arriving at the gallery with Cheese, Starfire, and others, they saw a group arguing about something.

As they got closer, the argument had already ended.

A plain-looking young man, face pallid, clutched his nose as he hurried away.

Behind him, a well-dressed youth still shouted angrily, "You’re trash! You’ve crossed the line! Your dad just lost his job too!"

The former paused but kept walking.

The young man laughed bitterly, then turned and left.

"What’s going on here?" Li Yelai paused to inquire.

A bystander responded, "The guy who left seems to be the son of an employee from that young man’s household. No clue where he got the guts, harassing the boss’s son’s girlfriend. Now even his family’s job is gone... god knows what he was thinking."

Li Yelai understood, but he wasn’t interested in prying into the gossip.

So, without much thought, he headed with his teammates towards the classroom on the third floor of the gallery.

What he didn’t know was that the beaten-up student was now sitting on the emergency stairs of the gallery. He pinched his bleeding nose and angrily dialed a number.

"Third brother, start it! I want him dead! I want it now!" he gritted his teeth.

"...Okay, let’s kick off the plan," the other laughed, "Remember, find the rules, and we are gods!"

...

Meanwhile, Li Yelai and his team had just started up the stairs when they heard piercing screams and roar.

At the same time, everyone’s phones received a text message.

Li Yelai flinched, about to rush towards the source of the screams,

but Cheese grabbed him.

Cheese’s eyes flickered as she whispered, "Kaidan has appeared, check the rules first!"

Starfire and Shadow Stream also realized this, stopping in their tracks.

Shadow Stream, already holding his phone, quickly glanced at the screen.

The text detailed the rules of the Kaidan.

"Art gallery rules:

1: Please do not chase or shout inside the gallery; keep quiet.

2: Avoid eye contact with the scroll paintings on the first floor, the wax figures on the second floor, and the statues on the third floor. If you experience dizziness, leave the area immediately.

3: If you find the door to the wax figure room open, light an object and leave the second floor slowly. If you hear someone asking questions midway, do not respond.

4: Carefully remember the positions of every statue. If you notice any statues have moved, keep your eyes on them while you leave the room and close the door. If the door is already closed, look for a key behind one of the statues’ heads.

5: If the emergency exit door’s light is green, you can pass through. If it is red, stay away.
