Chapter 829: Chapter 770: Harvest Season

Through the interrogation of Chu Yanqin, Qi Changye managed to unearth six more bodies.

Thus, the number of bodies involved in this case reached a total of 12, causing quite a stir even within the Beijing Bureau.

During meetings, people often talked about this "006 case"—a notch below 007, initially involving six bodies. Now with the discovery of six more, some also referred to it as "Double 006." Double 006 naturally couldn’t compare to 007; humility was necessary.

Qi Changye’s chest gradually puffed up with pride, especially as the case deepened and disconnected from the "half-ton case," earning him bountiful praise.

In those days, espionage cases actively cracked were extremely rare. This case was something Qi Changye had personally requested to reopen, despite not having ample resources—a vehicle handed over to Ningtai County serving as proof—Qi Changye’s initiative was indisputable and, most importantly, he had perfectly solved the case.

The criminal, Chu Yanqin, was a formally trained intelligence officer, a rarity amongst prisoners, garnering attention and... interrogation from all quarters.

At this stage, Qi Changye had effectively handed over the person completely.

Also handed over was his own car.

A nearly new Passat that had only driven 200,000 kilometers in seven years.

"Hey, be careful with the loading, couldn’t we just use it in Beijing?" Qi Changye said with reluctance.

"It’s you who said your license plates were special and we couldn’t use them..." Huang Qiangmin watched the Passat being secured onto the flatbed, smiling, "If I don’t take it back, how can I use it?"

"You could apply for a license in Beijing..."

"Can’t be bothered to apply, and we don’t need to." Huang Qiangmin said indifferently, "Our vehicles in Beijing are ensured by the Zhengguang Bureau, and maintaining a car here is expensive, a bit too wasteful."

"Ah... I’ve traveled quite a bit with this old partner. When I first got this car, only two vice directors had used it for less than three years, it was just like new!" Qi Changye said, shaking his head and sighing.

Huang Qiangmin pursed his lips, "Your budget this year must be quite large, buying a brand-new one is like playing for you."

Qi Changye laughed, then quickly pretended to be poor, "I still don’t know when that will be, and a lot of the budget is earmarked for specific things..."

Huang Qiangmin waved his hand, then asked, "Have all the criminals been sent for processing?"

"Yeah. Several have already signed their confessions and agreed to their penalties. The Chu Yanqin couple might struggle a bit; the prosecution has requested the death penalty." Qi Changye spoke of this with ease.

The 12 victims were mostly participants in a few smuggling channels, including Qi Changye’s special informant, who was disguised as a smuggler and killed in the woods without hesitation after being discovered.

During this process, Vicitms No.1 and No.2 were killed by participants No.3456 and others. The same happened to Nos. 3 and 4.

Chu Yanqin prioritized the elimination of participants in the murders, often with her husband’s involvement.

The couple was responsible for planning and executing their operations flawlessly. Through this method, Chu Yanqin effectively concealed her identity and maintained her secrecy for an extended period.

Huang Qiangmin nodded at this, not asking for more details. Qi Changye probably wouldn’t have said more anyway.

"Alright, I’ll be going back then." Huang Qiangmin packed up all the vehicle documents, and after a word, he was ready to leave.

"Director Huang, Director Huang." Qi Changye quickly took Huang Qiangmin’s hand, "About the next case..."

"We’ll see when it comes." Huang Qiangmin didn’t make any promises and turned to leave in a stylish Beijing-licensed A6.

...

Jiang Yuan also placed the last batch of bones into the box.

Compared to regular corpses, bones were easier to store. However, after being identified, these bones would soon be cremated and returned to the families.

Jiang Yuan personally wrote down the numbers and stuck them on the box.

After the last number was written, a blue orb spilled out.

Wan Xi’s Legacy: Origami (LV2)—Practicing origami was the most painful and happiest process Wan Xi had ever experienced, akin to raising a child. She personally didn’t like origami much, but experts said origami could develop children’s intelligence and concentration, so Wan Xi reluctantly learned it. She really wanted to return to her child’s side and fold a little boat for her.

Jiang Yuan sighed softly.

Wan Xi was the real name of Qi Changye’s special informant. But this skeleton had been buried for several years, meaning Wan Xi’s child had grown to an age where she no longer liked origami.

"Ask Team Captain Qi about the deceased informant, Wan Xi’s child—how should I go about sponsoring him?" Jiang Yuan put away the blue orb and turned to Medical Examiner Gong.

Medical Examiner Gong was a frequent lead forensic doctor used by Captain Qi’s team. In his thirties, he was technically very capable, his forensic pathology skill was roughly at a Level 2.5, making him stand out amongst his peers.

Jiang Yuan made the inquiry through him to have an additional witness.

Medical Examiner Gong didn’t have any objections; after connecting with Qi Changye’s phone and initially babbling away, he finally reiterated Jiang Yuan’s question.

"He’s been adopted by relatives, has some supervision and a scholarship, but his living conditions are quite ordinary." Medical Examiner Gong relayed Captain Qi’s words to Jiang Yuan.

Jiang Yuan nodded, "Well, our Jiang Village sponsors a certain number of students every year regardless of age. Adding one more person won’t be an issue; could you have Captain Qi coordinate this?"

"Sure," said Medical Examiner Gong promptly.

After a lengthy back-and-forth, the parties finally settled the matter.

Ending the call with Qi Changye, Jiang Yuan also let out a light sigh of relief. With that, the case was officially closed.

...

The system screen reappeared before Jiang Yuan.

Mission Completed: Trace of the Passing Geese

Mission Details: Crimes won’t easily disappear, nor can bodies be easily buried. Find the buried bodies, seek justice for them, and give the families peace of mind.

Mission Progress: (12/X)

Mission Reward: Forensic Sketch (LV6)

Graphical Investigation - Trajectory Analysis (LV6)

Seeing these two skill rewards, Jiang Yuan struggled to maintain his composure.

This was a task Xu Taining had taken on during an investigation when Jiang Yuan found two buried bodies, acquiring the Forensic Sketch (LV2) skill. Unexpectedly, this mission was still accumulating.

Once Forensic Sketch skill level reached LV6, it directly led to the next skill, Image Investigation - Trajectory Analysis, also maxing out at LV6.

Any skill reaching LV6 was nearly divine.

At this point, Jiang Yuan no longer felt tired. He rubbed his face and asked his colleague Mu Zhiyang, "Where are my biologists?"
