Chapter 555: Chapter 508: Rushing to Each Other’s Side

Qinghe City.

Junyue Footpath Wellness Center.

Security Captain Liang Yanrong, hands clasped behind his back, faced the emotionally charged customer with an unruffled expression and smiled, "Look, you’ve already made your purchases, and we’ve completed our services. Now you’re asking for a refund, which just isn’t reasonable."

"Services completed? What services have been completed? What exactly did you provide?" The customer, in his early thirties and still vigorous, was wearing the clothes provided by the center. He was red with anger, though not all of it was from anger—some redness could also be from the essential oil back scrub treatment."

Liang Yanrong glanced over at the female therapist.

The female therapist, small and delicate in appearance, spoke up firmly, not yielding an inch, "We did foot massages, shoulder rubs, a spa, used essential oils, stretched your limbs and applied hot compresses. Everything was done. What else do you want?"

The customer was livid: "If I just wanted a foot massage, would I need to spend over 1300 yuan? Downstairs from my place, it’s 79 yuan for an hour, and there’s even a discount with a membership card!"

"That’s just our price range," the female therapist retorted unhappily. "My skills are good, our environment is good. If you want to go somewhere cheaper, then go. But you chose a more expensive place, and now you’re making comparisons. I definitely informed you of the prices before you selected the services."

"Did I come here for a foot massage? Is that what you told me at the beginning?" The customer stopped pretending, flinging his hand out, "Before I agreed to the services, you said I would get ’daily’ treatment. Now that’s not happening, so just give me a refund!"

Liang Yanrong coughed twice, still with an annoyingly pleasant demeanor, "Brother, we run a legitimate foot bath establishment, and all our therapists are professionals. If you make it difficult like this, it makes it hard for us to operate."

"Legitimate, my ass. You’re charging the price for meat dishes when you’re serving vegetables." The customer was now boiling with rage, his mind finally kicked into gear after cooling down, and he recollected the scams he had read about online, knowing he had been tricked.

Liang Yanrong remained all smiles, not at all troubled by the exposure of his tricks, and he said, "Brother, 1314 yuan really isn’t expensive. Besides, it’s not uncommon for vegetarian dishes to be more expensive than meat dishes nowadays. The girl has provided services for quite a while, you enjoyed it too—don’t be too petty."

"Don’t be petty with me?" Seeing more customers entering the store, the angry patron took out his phone, threatening, "I’ll call the police."

Liang Yanrong sneered, asking, "What are you going to report to the police? We don’t provide illegal services, and yet you want to call the police?"

"Your employee implied there would be special services, that’s why I paid," the customer said holding his phone. "This is straight-up fraud."

"Nothing illegal about it," Liang Yanrong said, his neck tensing and his eyes turning fierce as he continued to apply pressure.

The customer hesitated, then the call connected—but he hung up himself.

He went out looking for a good time, didn’t get the ’color’ he was expecting, and was scammed instead. How could he tell such a humiliating story to the cops... Moreover, he was afraid of retaliation, not knowing what kind of connections these people might have.

"At least refund me some of it," the customer backpedaled.

"We’ll waive the fees for the clothing and the tea," Liang Yanrong offered, sparing him a few tens of yuan. Seeing the customer accept it, he walked out the door.

The money for the services had already been collected; the fees for tea and such were supposed to be collected by the front desk anyway, and now he was simply letting the customer walk away. The scam was tried and true, and even the conflict resolution process rarely changed.

It can only be said that customers who can’t even find a meat dish shop surely have no strong connections in either the underworld or the legitimate world.

The customer stayed in the room, putting on his own clothes with a sense of injustice before leaving, mumbling curses under his breath.

The female therapist, her cut secured, happily nudged Liang Yanrong and said with a laugh, "Thank you, Brother Liang. You were so solid, you had him in your grip the whole time."

If they met someone who resisted fiercely, they would usually refund twenty to thirty percent. Of course, not having to refund a penny was the most satisfying.

"It’s no big deal," Liang Yanrong said casually. To him, this job was child’s play, merely dancing on the edge of legality. As for customers like this one, he could handle a hundred of them without batting an eye—none of them could produce an iron rod against him. Even if he ran into a tough customer, a full refund and an apology would suffice.

Liang Yanrong had grown accustomed to such affairs, much simpler than the tasks he had undertaken for Jianyuan.

If it hadn’t been for Jianyuan wanting to distance himself and insisting that Liang Yanrong find a job, he wouldn’t have bothered with such a minor establishment.

As Liang Yanrong thought this, a carefree, unfettered expression emerged in his eyes.

The female therapist, envious, looped her arm through Liang Yanrong’s and shook it playfully: "Brother Liang... Shall I give you a massage?"

"To my office," Liang Yanrong’s tone was as serious as if discussing work. However, it was exactly this kind of ’work’ that he found enjoyable. The therapists in the shop would often change, but whether they did or not didn’t affect his pleasures.

"What are you thinking?" The female therapist playfully hit him, "I’ll just massage your shoulders."

"That’s exactly what I was talking about, massaging the shoulders. Where did your mind go..." Liang Yanrong chuckled heartily, wrapping his arm around the female therapist for a brief moment before letting her go.

The other security guards in the hall looked on enviously at Liang Yanrong. Despite their similar ages, Liang Yanrong was the only one who could stealthily take advantage; the others had to be in a quasi-relationship to do so.

Even when handling customer complaints, the security guards couldn’t deal with issues on their own like Liang Yanrong did; they often needed the collective effort of two or three people, and those who were not good at communicating even needed help from the female therapists. As for using force, it was prohibited unless a customer struck first.
