Chapter 1243: Chapter 1171: Don’t Believe They Can Find It

Ren Kuangshan sat on a green train for a day and a night, and changed stations within the Northeast, arriving at Yanquan County.

The first half of the journey was planned, the latter half was unplanned.

The planned part was because Ren Kuangshan had already traveled this route once. Yes, Ren Kuangshan tried this route once before to make his escape easier after the murder.

This was absolutely the right approach, and it was one of the experiences Ren Kuangshan accumulated after years of driving large trucks. No matter how much material you read or how many cautions you hear from veterans, if you haven’t been to a place, you haven’t been. You’ll encounter countless issues along the way.

When driving large trucks, Ren Kuangshan easily avoided taking jobs in new places. He would only take one if necessary or if jobs in a particular area increased. Even then, he would be extremely cautious on his first trip there. Despite this, encountering some mishaps was quite normal the first few times going to a place.

Ironically, some people risk their necks to commit murder yet are unwilling to invest the time and effort to personally run through their escape route. As a result, when the time comes to flee, their plans are full of holes, which is truly laughable.

Those preparing documents at their computers, preparing for murder, even if they spend a year or two preparing, are not as good as a special forces soldier taking the trip once.

Even when special forces travel once or twice, they will still encounter various issues when it’s time to flee.

Ren Kuangshan was prepared for this, just like when he drove large trucks, especially in the 2000s. Different provinces and towns had different customs and conditions, or rather, they had different highway robbers.

Any small unexpected event during the journey could turn into a major incident or a frustrating conflict.

Ren Kuangshan unexpectedly yet understandably encountered a train delay.

He hadn’t originally planned to come to Yanquan, so this was an unplanned development.

In this day and age, the punctuality rate of high-speed trains is extremely high. Green trains and their passengers are like the dust left behind by the times, always considered last, thinking they generously surrendered all rights to those advanced trains.

Tonight, the green train Ren Kuangshan was on was delayed.

This greatly delayed his arrival at the scheduled station, not only missing the next green train but also due to potentially arriving two or three hours later than planned. The inspection when leaving the station would undoubtedly be stricter, making it more likely to be discovered if he tried to sneak off the platform.

Ren Kuangshan made a quick decision to get off two stations early, still at 5 a.m., and walked out of the train station.

The air at four or five in the morning was piercing and free.

Ren Kuangshan with his hands in his pockets, carrying only a backpack, followed the crowd, lining up at the manual exit channel.

This kind of green train that stops at small counties, many people getting off won’t use the automatic gate. Some who could use it are too lazy, forcing the train station to open two manual channels, yet they were still crowded.

Ren Kuangshan feigned the appearance of an older migrant worker, silently moving forward.

"Take out your ID and ticket." A station staff member approached, their voice stern.

The slightly loud sound was like a thunderclap in Ren Kuangshan’s ear.

Ren Kuangshan couldn’t help but shiver, then pretending to be cold, wrapped his clothes tighter and slowly took out his ID card and the ticket he supplemented on the train.

The station staff gave Ren Kuangshan a strange look and said, "Take off your mask."

Ren Kuangshan was someone who had been around; he knew he was being suspected. He complained while taking off the mask: "So chilly..."

Despite his words, he took off the mask. Most importantly, the ID he handed over was one he had carefully chosen from several, bearing some resemblance to him.

After all, the train station staff were not police. They glanced at the ID, then frowned at Ren Kuangshan but still let him pass.

Then, the same staff member continued to call to the people behind: "Take out your ID and ticket."

Only then did Ren Kuangshan realize that this person just wanted him to take out his ID and ticket earlier to pass smoothly through the manual channel.

With this realization, Ren Kuangshan’s previously slightly weak legs regained their strength. He believed that if he encountered a similar situation again, he wouldn’t feel guilty.

Experience comes from situations like this.

"Ticket, ID..." The checkpoint staff chanted as if reciting a mantra. At five in the morning, whether staying up late or getting up early, none felt too well. The slightly older ones were even more resentful, having to check hundreds of people at once, they could only skim through.

Most importantly, Ren Kuangshan knew that the ticket inspectors were mainly checking tickets, not people. After he supplemented his ticket on the train, there was no issue.

He was even particular about the green trains he bought tickets for, all being trains that didn’t originate in Shannan Province but passed through, not under the jurisdiction of Shannan Province’s railway bureau, so even if there were train police, they wouldn’t receive the information in time.

Ren Kuangshan followed the crowd out of the train station, then looked at the black cars by the roadside, a smile appearing on his lips.

"Where to, sir? There’s one more seat to share a ride, want to join?" a black car driver called out proactively.

Ren Kuangshan shook his head; he certainly wouldn’t choose a shared ride. The time on the car is too long, and with close proximity, it’s most prone to issues.

"Where are you heading, sir? I’m off for the night, I’ll give you a discount," another black car driver greeted him.

Ren Kuangshan finally stopped and asked, "Are you going to Heshan?"

"Heshan is far, two or three hundred kilometers."

"It’s just under 200 kilometers. How much to go?" Ren Kuangshan had checked the map.

He was talking about Heshan City, originally a small city he planned to reach by train. In recent years, it had gained a bit of internet fame. Ren Kuangshan had been there before when he transported coal and had scouted it earlier, feeling that it was a place with a considerable flow of outsiders, making it relatively easier to stay hidden.

Fugitives always go to familiar places, not because they are unaware of the danger but because not doing so could very well lead to exposure on the way.

Arriving in any city, finding a place to stay is the most perilous moment.

Ren Kuangshan’s original plan was to get a vehicle upon reaching Heshan, pretend to be on a road trip to the border, and then leave the country directly without stopping, taking advantage of a time difference.

According to his plan, wearing a mask and riding a motorcycle, it would take the authorities some days to identify him. By that time, he planned to be long gone, enjoying himself abroad.

However, after learning he had hit an academician, Ren Kuangshan thought it over on the green train and decided not to rush leaving the country.

In principle, he was somewhat familiar with the country, but abroad, he would truly be in the dark.

As for the person who hired him, Ren Kuangshan now realized he could no longer trust them at all.

Who would want someone to hit an academician?

Just thinking about it chilled Ren Kuangshan to the bone.

So, he decided on a whim not to transfer at Heshan, opting to stay in Heshan, find an apartment to rent, live there, cook for himself, and not believe the police could find him.
