Chapter 319: Chapter 317 : Jiraiya Appears!!

"Genya."

Uchiha Furin saw the newcomer, and his previously proud tone immediately turned hesitant. He wanted to call out "Genya-sama," but realizing it was in public, he swallowed the words back.

In the end, he stammered a few words, but nothing came out.

He was here to escort some goods and had heard there was trouble at the merchant association.

So, he rushed over quickly!

Unexpectedly... he met Genya, the one wearing a mask!

He had seen the masked Genya before and recognized him instantly. Could it be... Genya was here to deal with the Jashin Cult?

Uchiha Furin’s heart began to race.

Genya looked at Uchiha Furin and spoke slowly, "Furin, long time no see!"

"Uh... long time no see!" Uchiha Furin awkwardly replied, then slowly asked, "What brings you here?"

From the way Uchiha Furin changed his tone, it was clear he was showing great respect to Genya.

The people around them saw this and couldn’t help but relax. It seemed that these two were well-acquainted with the elders of the Uchiha clan. They all sighed in relief.

At least, it was safe for these two.

"I’m here to take care of something and, by the way, eliminate the Jashin Cult!" Genya said casually, as if wiping out the Jashin Cult was an easy task.

"Eliminate the Jashin Cult?" Uchiha Furin was shocked, but still asked, "Is it your decision, or the clan’s?"

"It’s the decision of the Atsukara. A cult built on the suffering of commoners like this should not exist!" Genya’s indifferent words rang out, directly condemning the Jashin Cult.

Kill, wipe out!

The Jashin Cult must be eradicated.

"I understand what to do now!" Uchiha Furin nodded, his mind already made up. Genya didn’t want this matter to involve the Uchiha clan: "Since the Atsukara is involved, our merchant association won’t participate."

These kinds of troublesome matters... let Genya handle them.

After saying that, Uchiha Furin turned to leave. Since Genya was here, it was time for him to head back.

"Wait."

Genya called out to stop him, his tone calm.

"What is it?"

Uchiha Furin asked, a bit surprised.

"In the next month or two, the village might not be peaceful. Stay here and guard this place."

Genya then pointed to the injured mother and daughter. "Also, take them with you. Find them work through the Merchant Association."

"Understood."

Uchiha Furin nodded. He glanced at the woman holding the child and signaled that they could follow him.

The woman hesitated, looking at Genya unsure if she really could go with him.

Genya gave a small nod. Only then did the woman thank him and follow. Her daughter was hurt—she wanted to go to the guild to find a doctor and get her treated.

The little girl, her big eyes wide open, stared at Genya as if trying to memorize his face.

"Big brother, thank you!"

Genya smiled back at her.

"The matter is settled. Everyone, disperse."

Genya said slowly, then glanced at the corpse on the ground. "Phantom Tiger, take this trash and follow me. We’ll wait outside the village. The others should be arriving soon."

Shisui nodded, then grabbed the dead cultist by the leg and dragged the body out of the village.

The two of them—one tall, one short—walked slowly. When they passed through crowds, people automatically stepped aside to make way.

"Atsukara..."

The man watching them whispered to himself. His eyes showed even more surprise.

"To think they’re this close to the Uchiha clan? Even some of the Uchiha upper ranks listen to him?"

Curiosity grew in his heart.

And so, he followed quietly behind the two.

Under everyone’s watchful gaze, they arrived at the outskirts of the village, waiting for the Jashin Cult to appear.

"Hopefully your whole group shows up. That way, we won’t have to waste time," Genya said lazily. He was still hoping Hidan would be among them.

"Maybe. But since we’re wiping them out anyway, we’d have to make the trip either way," Shisui replied calmly. He could now say the words ’wipe them out’ without a second thought.

Once a gentle soul, his personality had started to change. Maybe he finally realized that kindness alone couldn’t change anything.

And so, the two of them chatted casually as they waited.

A long time passed.

Genya’s eyes shifted toward a large tree not far away. "You’ve been there for a while. Not planning to come out?"

His voice was cold, with a hint of warning.

"Haha... Looks like my hiding skills still aren’t good enough," a cheerful voice rang out, followed by the sound of wooden clogs hitting the ground. "Sorry to intrude!"

Shisui turned to look as well.

What he saw was a man with long white hair, a toad-like face, and a massive scroll strapped to his back.

"Jiraiya!" Shisui blurted out instantly.

He had actually seen Jiraiya earlier, back on that flashy—cough—on Uchiha Street.

But since they had things to do, he hadn’t paid much attention. He didn’t expect Jiraiya to follow them here.

One of the Legendary Sannin. And potentially the strongest one.

"Seems you know who I am?" Jiraiya walked toward them in his wooden sandals, his tone light but curious.

"One of the Legendary Sannin of Konoha. How could I not know?" Uchiha Shisui replied slowly, but then his voice grew serious. "Why did you follow us here?"

He and Genya were about to fight the Jashin Cult — they didn’t want anything unexpected to happen.

If Jiraiya was also helping the cult, things would get really complicated.

"Don’t get me wrong!" Jiraiya quickly explained. "The cult has a lot of strong members. I’m just worried you two might be in danger. If you run into any troublesome ninja, I’ll help!"

"No need," Genya said coldly. "Just stand aside and watch. I hope you won’t interfere."

"Alright~~" Jiraiya shrugged helplessly, seeing that Genya had rejected him. "Then I’ll just stay on the sidelines and quietly watch. I won’t disturb you."

As he spoke, he stepped back to watch from a distance.

But in his heart, he was thinking — when they start losing, he’d step in at the last moment. They’d surely be moved by his heroic figure.

They might even kneel and ask to become his disciples!

Jiraiya was quite satisfied with the two peace-loving youngsters. If they begged hard enough, he could reluctantly take them in.

With all his years of traveling across the ninja world, just by looking at their hand bones, he could tell they were still young.

The more he thought about it, the more he couldn’t help grinning foolishly — as if he was already planning their future for them.

"What’s he smiling like an idiot for?" Shisui glanced at Jiraiya, who had suddenly started giggling to himself, and asked.

He had heard rumors that one of the Legendary Sannin — Jiraiya — was a bit mentally off at times.

Now it seemed the rumors might be true.

Genya replied, "Who knows? Maybe he’s dreaming some beautiful dream."

Meanwhile, on the narrow path ahead, a group of people were moving quickly.

Leading them was a one-armed cultist.

Suddenly—

He spotted Genya and Shisui standing at the village entrance, and blurted out,

"T-They’re over there!"
