Chapter 904: Chapter 336 This Dignified Face Can’t Possibly Be an Undercover_4
Fragments of memory interspersed with a haughty personality constantly impacted Mona’s sense of self, but through practical experience, she uncovered a method to counteract the memory interference.
The results were extraordinary, as such an arrogant personality couldn’t bear those murky images. Whenever Mona mentioned them, the other party almost immediately backed down.
Swish, swish, swish!
A mass of black fog surged from the ground, and within it, numerous black venomous snakes hissed with crimson tongues, twisting and forming the shape of a figure cloaked in a black robe.
Wayne fixed his gaze, and a tentacle stretched out, speaking, "Who are you, you are not my faith’s Cathedral Lord."
The man in the black robe was the mortal vessel for Smedley, the Familiar of the Lord of Envy, harboring part of Smedley’s thoughts; he was essentially Smedley’s devil incarnate.
His voice was chillingly cold, hissing like a venomous snake, "The Cathedral Lord cannot descend to the Mortal World for now. His power is too vast, and the Mortal World lacks a channel capable of bearing his arrival, so he sent me to meet you instead."
Smedley, out of habit, started to bluff— a work habit— before recalling that there was no need for nonsense with a puppet and directly said, "Contact the Cathedral Lord, he will tell you everything."
The plan had succeeded smoothly, and it was time to close the net!
To open the Hell Gate and bring his master, the Lord of Envy, into the Mortal World, Smedley had painstakingly prepared several plans.
Plan one was plain and brutal, using the simplest and most violent form of sacrifice to forcefully invoke the name of the Lord of Envy in the Mortal World, breaking Heaven’s seal on Hell.
This method was the simplest yet consumed the most energy, needing the sacrifice of numerous souls under extreme energy scarcity.
Due to the exposure of the plan, he had to withdraw the Void Evil God and opt for plan two instead.
Hodgson was initially set to execute plan two, but with the sudden arrival of the Papal Envoy, Smedley opted for caution. He did not choose Hodgson, using him only as a distraction, while he looked for another executor.
While he was searching, good news came from the Cathedral Lord—a foolish thief found gold remains of a divine statue and had corrupted it into his own image.
Smedley found this suspicious, the coincidence too great, and did not agree at the time. Only upon seeing Wayne in person did he truly believe that the Cathedral Lord had not lied.
The corruption was absolute, bizarrely deep—his visage could not possibly be undercover. It was indeed one of their own.
Secure!
Smedley envisioned the future, saw the Hell Gate open, the realms of the Lord of Envy projected onto the Mortal World, and hordes from Hell transforming the world into a second hell.
His master, gaining a mighty power surpassing the Seven Demon Kings, would conquer Hell and achieve supremacy, and he too, with his monumental achievements, would become the most favored servant of his master.
On Wayne’s end, contacting the Cathedral Lord via the statue, the latter confirmed the success of the plan, no longer putting on an act. Powerful thoughts surged out of the statue and stormed into Wayne’s body.
"My people, for your loyalty, I shall grant the greatest reward, you will merge with the faith, becoming part of me," the Cathedral Lord cackled eerily. As the thoughts arrived, the Elemental Space also moved over, beginning to transform the new body.
The potential was decent, personal strength insufficient—time for a boost.
An abundance of Elemental forces flowed in; Wayne’s screams merged with the laughter of the Cathedral Lord, and for a moment, it was unclear who was laughing and who was screaming.
Smedley watched coldly; Wayne was a fool chosen by the Cathedral Lord, dreaming of rising to great heights, just as the Cathedral Lord, the Void Evil God, was a fool chosen by the Lord of Envy.
There are no loves without reason in this world; dealing with the Devil only brings betrayal!
"I’m ready; let’s start!"
Moments later, Wayne’s pale tentacled body writhed, emitting the voice of the Cathedral Lord. He barely understood this Void Evil God, knowing only the chicken-like taste, crunchy, with high protein content. In a bid to showcase a godly demeanor, his tentacles wrapped tightly around Mona’s body.
"Murphy, you’re ready, but the others aren’t here yet!"
Smedley sneered, too lazy to puncture the Cathedral Lord’s slight intentions of hogging it all, waved his hand, and several Holy Grails hanging from Wayne’s tentacles flew towards him.
Smedley picked and chose, quickly finding the true Holy Grail that once contained Divine Blood. His face lit with joy. Upon touching the Divine Blood, an Inverted Pentagram surrounded by swirling black smoke spread out beneath him.
Smedley’s thoughts rapidly descended, his power continuously escalating. Chanting under his breath, he contacted the Void to open a channel, allowing several Void Evil Gods to return to the Mortal World.
"Now, let us welcome the grand arrival of our great Lord of Envy to the Mortal World..."
With Smedley at the center, a host of twisted creatures cloaked in black danced with their tentacles, Wayne being the most twisted among them.
Mona, completely enveloped by tentacles, suppressed her disgust and through Telepathic Transmission inquired if it was time to act.
"They can come on their own, let’s wait until the thoughts of that venomous snake in the middle have fully descended, then we can kill them off to prevent any future troubles!"
No rush, let’s play along with them
