Chapter 876: Chapter 329 Upright and Just, Avoiding the Company of Women_3

Wayne carefully checked and confirmed that the other party’s faith was in the Pale Nest disguised as the Nature Goddess. He thought to himself that this was sure to work out and reshaped his thoughts, adding a white hospital gown over his battle suit.

Megan took over, pushing Veronica’s hospital bed far away.

The underground base had limited space, and Hefei’s body was growing larger, with more and more characteristics of a Green Dragon becoming apparent.

Three hours later, a hundred-meter-long Giant Dragon occupied the entire base. From afar, its curves looked graceful, but up close it was ferocious and fierce—a true Evil Dragon.

It closely resembled Saina’s Green Dragon model.

Beneath the Green Dragon’s outer skin was the essence of Void Life, existing by imitating Green Dragons, and making the fake indistinguishable from the real wasn’t a problem.

Wayne felt that this was a sure bet, and to prevent the tragedy of popping champagne mid-game, he had Austin steady his thoughts. They had taken ninety-nine steps, and success or failure hinged on this moment.

Everything went smoothly—there were no emergencies, nor did an originating Giant Dragon suddenly appear to disrupt the evolution ritual.

Hefei made it!

Boom—Boom—Boom—

The underground base vibrated with a booming sound; the Green Dragon rose, wrecking the base into ruins, and its hundred-meter-long body burst through the earth. In the background, Austin fled in a sorry state.

Wayne, with Veronica on his back, and Megan stood by and watched the show.

With a roar from the Evil Dragon, a vortex of flames roared out, straight towards where Austin was. With no choice but to transform into a Dark Knight, he fought for three exchanges but was unfortunately pinned to the ground by a dragon claw and ground against.

"You just spoil her..."

Wayne whispered, telling Megan to prepare the medical kit, especially bandages—and the more, the better—for Austin was going to be in a world of pain tonight.

The overly salty middle-aged dog food was not suitable for young people to taste, so Wayne, with Veronica on his back, returned to the young master’s villa.

Nobody stopped Hefei’s rampage. Not to mention Austin was enjoying it, who would dare to stop his rampage, he would be the first to lose his temper. Besides, the force of destruction Hefei exhibited was clearly contained, not destroying too much—just an underground base, which would be rebuilt tomorrow.

Money was no issue!

The next day, Wayne stepped out feeling refreshed.

Having resolved the Dragon Blood Curse, the surgery was flawlessly perfect, and a weight had been lifted from his chest—he couldn’t describe how much of a relief it was.

He increasingly realized the importance of research, just in time as the new branch of the Magic Department was established. Borne had put together a new research team, with all experimental equipment and materials moved in. They only lacked the deputy director/leader for the ribbon-cutting and perhaps a passionate speech, so he decided to drive over for a look.

The new branch was located in the South District of Lundan. Since Wayne had almost emptied the Grey Space, the nighttime fog in Lundan had become thinner, and the magical fog that once shrouded Lundan was gradually becoming a thing of the past. With the continuous growth of the night-time economy, the once poor southeast districts had sequentially received commercial investments.

These were all matters for later, hardly noticeable in the short term, and with the shadow of war still fermenting, there was no hope for the southeast districts to prosper economically in the next two years.

Not getting worse was already fortunate enough.

The completed laboratory was divided into two parts: Area A led by Borne was continuing research on Void Lifeforms, mainly focusing on the flesh of Star Beasts, which were valuable resources but hard to obtain because the raw materials were scarce.

Area B was occupied by Wayne alone, studying Hell, inheriting the legacy of the former Hell Study Expert, Frank; currently, he was just organizing the materials, essentially having just created a new folder.

There was a desperate shortage of research materials.

The best research materials would undoubtedly be devils from Hell or at least Familiars, but obviously, even if Wayne had the ability, he couldn’t find any Familiars to capture.

Perhaps Paris had some, but he couldn’t go there—it was too chaotic, who knew how many devils were lurking in the bushes.

He hoped The Church’s angels would act faster and send an army to clean up sooner.

"Deputy director, we’re about to run out of experimental materials in our stock."

Borne rushed to Area B, where the so-called experimental materials were flesh from Star Beasts, which were highly contaminated and generally only found in well-preserved condition in the hands of The Church.

Hearing that purchasing the flesh would require extra money, Wayne immediately became unhappy: "You are an elite of the Magic Department, the country has not nurtured you easily, don’t just think about allocations when problems arise, you need to learn to hunt on your own."

Times had changed, Wayne himself could afford to set fires to the warehouse, with no issue. But if someone else set a fire, he would be the first to stand up for the Queen.

The God-chosen Continent was not like Europe, with less spare money from colonies; the pearls on the Queen’s Crown were already few, and if scraped further, the Queen would have to resort to nightclubs to sustain a living.

"Deputy Director, I’d love to go hunting in The Void, but the conditions don’t allow it!"

Borne complained, "You don’t know, right now..."

"Hm?!"

"Sorry, my mistake."

Borne admitted his mistake and corrected himself: "You’ve just taken office, deputy director, and I haven’t had time to report to you. Around the spatial nodes where Lundan overlaps The Void, a Void Worm has stationed itself and doesn’t move."

"Ah, it’s the same one!"

Wayne realized this and suddenly understood—that’s why every time he entered The Void, he would encounter a Void Worm; it was staking out.

The question was, what was the Void Worm staking out for?

"Borne, if the space nodes in Lundan are blocked, why not go to other cities? Use your brain, isn’t this simple logic? Do I still need to teach you?" Wayne reprimanded with the authority of a leader.

"Can’t do it in other cities either. The God-chosen Continent may seem vast, but to The Void, it’s insignificant. Almost the entire God-chosen Continent shares a single spatial node. Even if I were to enter The Void from the Icebound Continent, I would still encounter that Void Worm," Borne said helplessly.
