Chapter 790: Chapter 308 Death Knight: Let Me Speak a Few Words of Justice

A nightmare-like deep laughter echoed in the banquet hall, silencing the crowd.

Several members of the Tulip Family on the cruise were very familiar and all knew too well the face beneath the grey robe, each of them bowing their heads in silence, mourning the future of their family.

Their gazes involuntarily turned to Austin—the Queen had already subdued most of the Tulip Family, and rather than saying tonight’s banquet was aimed at the Tulip Family, it seemed more like a special treat for the Lando Family.

Such a tribute to the Lando Family, reducing all of the Tulip Family to mere accessories—was this the capital of the Queen’s lover, making others green with envy to the point of clenching their fists?

The Queen had the Death Knight as an ally, while the Lando Family had the High Priests of both the Naturalist Church and the Moonlight Church—speaking strictly of their power on paper, the Queen had already won.

A one-sided victory was dull and uninteresting. Those members of the Tulip Family who were forced to withdraw felt indignant, not only lamenting their own misfortune but also wishing to witness the downfall of more people.

Just one person, Austin, made it uninteresting with no turn of events to spice things up. But if that person were the Queen, well, that would be quite entertaining.

Those who were kicked from the dining table, reduced to mere bystanders fit only for cleaning up leftovers, or even worse, put on the menu themselves—what did they most desire?

Answer: To see those who kicked them off the dining table served on the menu too.

Thus, although the members of the Tulip Family felt it unlikely, they held expectations for Austin, curious to see his hidden cards for turning the tide against the odds.

Take a bigger risk; the Death Knight enters the arena, and the arms race escalates, with each High Priest calling upon their respective Naturalist and Moonlight Knights. Not a problem, right?

Never mind whether it’s rational; just ponder the possibility!

The likelihood isn’t high, but it indeed exists.

Even if it fails, at least it can provide a laugh.

Hefei watched with a daze as the Death Knight accompanied the Queen into the room, glancing at the Tulip Family who were taking pleasure in the misfortune and at her own expressionless scumbag husband. She stroked...

She couldn’t understand.

Her son had taken the Queen’s side—what was this play about?

Hefei subconsciously opened the team’s voice chat, asking curiously, "What’s going on, have you two had a falling out?"

Austin sighed, unsure how to respond. He asked Hefei not to say anything further, with the situation being chaotic already, they couldn’t afford more disarray.

"What a mess, can’t you just explain things clearly?"

Hefei snorted coldly; it was just a bit of curiosity, yet the scumbag reacted like this, making her feel like she had overstepped.

Yes, yes, they were all God-chosen Knights, and she, just a High Priest, had no right to speak. Without talent or brains, she wasn’t qualified to join the high-end game, much less to have a say.

Upon first hearing it, the idea seemed self-aware; in reality, it was all warning. Austin was speechless, feeling that he was in for a beating tonight.

In the past, when Hefei beat him, there was at least some hesitation, fearing she might truly harm him, so she held back; their domestic violence was more akin to mutual flirtation.

Not anymore. Now, she would exert as much force as she had, with no playful affection to speak of.

Hefei was fearless, not the slightest bit flustered by the Death Knight’s presence, not only disregarding the Death Knight but also daring to threaten the Dark Knight.

Philomena was far from calm. She was unaware that she had been repeatedly defeated by the Death Knight, disgraced and bested time and again. Analyzing the current situation, her complexion turned quite ugly.

Tonight’s banquet was a trap, targeting both the Randao Family and the Naturalist and Moonlight Churches.

She took a deep breath and sent a voice chat request to Hefei. After adding her as a friend, she asked directly, "The Death Knight is here, and we’re probably no match for him. Where is Wayne? He’s the Naturalist Knight; only a Knight can contend with a Knight."

"Ah, don’t you know?"

"Know what?"

"..."

Right, the real mother had only recently found out; as a lover—one of many—her rarity didn’t compare to ’real mother + teacher,’ there was no reason for her to be at the forefront.

"Mother, why aren’t you talking?"

"I mean, Wayne is already here, didn’t you know?"

"..."

Philomena didn’t respond, having looked for him before without discovering any trace of the deceptive corpse. She couldn’t speak plainly; if her mother-in-law found out, there could be misunderstandings about her and Wayne’s relationship’s depth.

After a moment’s thought, she replied that she had just seen him.

Assured by Hefei, Philomena felt much relieved, scanning around in her peripheral vision trying to locate the concealed corpse.

Soon, her gaze settled on a woman in black robes. Her intuition told her that this woman was a formidable enemy, a very difficult adversary.

Hefei’s expression remained unchanged, watching Philomena cheerfully, enjoying the pleasure brought about by the information asymmetry due to her intelligence advantage.

She hadn’t realized before that the High Priestess of the Moonlight Church, who seemed sharp and capable, was actually not so bright, ignorant about who the person beside her pillow was.

Not long into her amusement, Hefei could no longer laugh. The boomerang she had thrown out had come back to hit and hurt herself.

Philomena didn’t know that the person beside her was the Death Knight; yet wasn’t she in the same boat, having been deceived about the identity by the Dark Knight and humiliated for so many years?

"Bastard, I’ll deal with you when we get back!"

"Mother, whom are you talking to?"

"Never mind, just remember to deal with Wayne when you get back."

Hefei quickly covered up, perhaps out of a sense of shared misery, feeling a sudden fondness for Philomena. Before, she would have thought the old woman to be excessively harsh and catty, a real shrew, but now she viewed the girl as sweet and sensible, barely qualified as a daughter-in-law.

She approved of this daughter-in-law and decided she’d reprimand her son when she got back; such a fine girl shouldn’t be made to suffer.
