Chapter 773: Chapter 303: Big Secret_4
"Eh?!"
Wayne instantly calmed down, then immediately broke into a heavy sweat.
This was bad; the side effects of clashing fiercely with Torgoguryr were showing up. His thoughts were too inhuman, like an Ancient God handing out sweets to the fated ones.
Torgoguryr: I’m not familiar with you, do not disturb me, it has nothing to do with me.
Plank looked hopefully at Wayne, having shared all the secrets he should have. Now it was Wayne’s turn to reveal his own findings.
Wayne smoothly transformed into a Perfect Elf, the perfect balance with nature mesmerizing Plank, but...
There was still something missing.
If this was the answer he’d always longed for, it was disappointingly basic.
"Plank, this is just the beginning. Five faiths form the skeleton of life, but without the corresponding flesh, skin, and the energy to make the heart beat..."
Wayne spoke bluntly, "Life is too grand, the initial Life Alliance was more than just five deities. There were many more, these gods fell in the war of faith, stripped of their names. The losers don’t get remembered. We need to find them out."
Come, have cake!
Having advanced to a Golden Mage, Wayne was not short of old friends among the Four Elements. He decided to target ’Storm and Thunder’ stored within the Obelisk.
Yet that wasn’t enough, as there were many more fallen gods besides Storm and Thunder.
It would be too taxing for him alone; he hoped Plank would also get moving.
"The true life..."
Plank listened until his scalp tingled, Wayne’s pep talk sickeningly salty to the point of being heady, and the cake too had an off-puttingly sour taste.
He felt the true quantity of life was overwhelming. Even if he could find them, he wouldn’t be able to master them all. Rather than taxing himself and risking balance loss, it’d be better to hand them over to Wayne once found and then...
Wait, isn’t this kid using me as a pawn?
The two stared each other down, Plank’s mustache bristling in the standoff.
In the darkness, the broken gate rippled with a cold breeze, restricted to The Forgotten Land behind it, not reaching into the God-chosen Continent.
Within the wind, a figure riding a white horse appeared indistinctly like a hazy mist.
"Life..."
"Fragile..."
------------
That night.
In the countryside of Lundan, at the Royal Vacation Villa.
A figure in a Black Robe gazed into the distance, the coldness in his eyes flickered with struggle, wanting to approach, yet fearing the intimacy.
Wanting to flee, yet needing to draw near.
"Her Holiness, my apologies for visiting late at night and disturbing your rest."
Douglas arrived at the agreed-upon time, five minutes early, punctual as always.
Anastasia shook her head slightly to clear the helplessness from her mind, and said flatly, "Baron Kimo, I recall you saying that it’s best not to meet now. Can the matter not be discussed over the phone?"
"It concerns the future of the Dark Church; the Queen thinks it’s safer to clarify in person."
Douglas outlined the potential risks: "The Queen has permitted the Dark Church to develop in Lundan, but in exchange, she expects the Dark Church to stand against the Life Alliance."
"This is what we agreed on from the beginning, so why bring it up now? Is there a tough enemy?"
"Hardly an enemy, just a disobedient vassal."
Douglas continued, "Within the Tulip Family there is the Randao Family; the family head Austin and the heir Wayne have ties with the High Priest of the Naturalism Church and the High Priest of the Moonlight Church respectively. To maintain balance, the Queen hopes Her Holiness will step forward when the time comes."
"..."
"Her Holiness?"
"I understand; that’s not an issue."
Anastasia glanced at Douglas helplessly, thinking he’d certainly picked the right person, "Baron Kimo, is the Randao Family difficult to deal with?"
"Not particularly so, but the Queen is too kind. She does not wish to use the most brutal methods to suppress the Tulip Family."
Douglas concealed his discontent and explained their advantage to Anastasia, "Long ago, the Queen formed an alliance with the Death Knight. She hopes you can find the Dark Knight of Lundan. With two of the God-chosen united, facing pressure from the Life Alliance would be much easier."
Forget the Life Alliance; if the Pope came to Lundan, he would have to give a toast to the Queen at banquets.
This was a sure bet!
"..."
"Her Holiness?"
"I’ll do my best. I am just a servant who has lost her way in faith, far below the dignity of a Knight Lord. Even if I find them, I can’t command them," Anastasia sighed softly.
The Queen really had a good eye for allies!
Hearing her advice, rather than probing further, it’d be more straightforward to jump to the end and deliver the crown to the Randao Family.
There were simply too many knights there, more than one could count on one hand.
