Chapter 757: Chapter 299: Prince Douglas

After obtaining the documents, Wayne roughly skimmed them, astonished by the empire the Princess had built over the years.

No wonder she wanted to tidy up; if the Queen saw this, being grounded would be the least of the Princess’s worries.

"My, my, My Princess, your ambition is truly grand. One might think the Queen is on her deathbed."

"There’s no such thing. I’ve been able to do all this thanks to Mother’s delegation and permission," Juno claimed without a hint of embarrassment.

"Since My Princess trusts me so much, I definitely won’t disappoint you, and remember, the Lando Family is now loyal to the Queen and will remain so in the future."

Wayne patted his bottom and signaled his secretary to box up the files: "It’s getting late; I won’t disturb you three any longer. Give me a few days, and I’ll clean up these stains as quickly as possible."

"Thank you very much for your help."

After Wayne left, Alisa sat next to Juno and, taking the tea that Elizabeth handed her, asked with puzzlement, "How long have you known Sir Wayne, and you trust him just like that?"

Alisa was perplexed. Juno’s upbringing had made her extremely cautious; she never trusted anyone easily, yet Wayne was the exception.

The documents Wayne had just seen, had he any designs, could condemn Juno to a fate beyond redemption if handed directly to the Queen.

Unless the Heavenly Father’s Court swept over the God-chosen Continent again, she would never recover.

"He is a Reincarnated Angel, representing the faith of the Heavenly Father’s Court. If I can’t trust him, who can I trust? Besides, I have the Lando Family’s secrets as leverage, so I’m not afraid of him doing anything rash."

Juno lifted Alisa’s chin and lingered on her red lips for a moment, leaving her breathing hurriedly, before teasing, "What’s the matter, my betrothed Your Excellency? Do you have a big problem with Wayne? Could it be jealousy?"

Alisa truly felt it, and frankly said, "The trust you place in him is so sudden, it’s bizarre, almost like love."

"Silly girl, I only like you."

"What about the future heir? If you become the King, I certainly cannot help you continue the lineage. Have you found a suitable candidate?" Alisa pressed on.

"I haven’t found one just yet, you know me, I’m quite shallow, I only like beauties."

Juno furrowed her brows, hesitated and said, "If I haven’t found someone suitable by then, Wayne wouldn’t be a bad choice. His identity, status, and powerful strength are all excellent options."

"See, you clearly have feelings for him," Alisa protested unhappily.

Juno laughed, at a loss for words: "Even if I had feelings for him, it would be because of his handsome lovers, not him personally."

"You’d better be careful as, in the current relationship, you don’t have the upper hand; it’s him that’s got you in his grasp."

"I understand, but that will change."

Juno looked at his palm: "Both of us possess Divine Blood, and the great fog of Lundan can awaken our potential. In the future, I’ll only grow stronger than him."

In the streets of the West District, a black sedan drove slowly.

Wayne sat in the passenger seat, flipping through the documents in the file box, increasingly engrossed: "What a waste to dispose of these resources. It’d be better to move them to my place and use them myself. If Juno asks, I’ll just tell her there was a fire in the warehouse."

"Boss, do I need to work overtime tonight?" Mona offered willingly.

"Yes, you do indeed need to work overtime tonight."

Wayne closed the file box and casually tossed it into his personal storage space: "Take the next right. I know a boutique that designs beautiful evening gowns."

As he spoke, he began to count on his fingers: "Veronica, Kris, Villy, Philomena... and the teacher, Villy’s mother Lady Carter, I need to pick a dress for each as gifts."

Mona didn’t speak, knowing Wayne was best at offering treats and would never shortchange anyone, not even Hefei and Carter, so her gift would surely not be forgotten.

Deliberately omitting her was nothing but his play to wait for her to sulk and tease her opportunistically.

She decided not to get upset!

Two hours later, in a private dining room of a high-end restaurant.

Mona wore a red evening gown, her wavy hair pinned up, and a not-so-cheap gemstone pendant around her neck.

Without gifts for others, Wayne bought her a pile of things specially.

The setting and the atmosphere, if nothing happened, would be a disservice to the romantic flowers and candlelight.

Mona’s heart raced uncontrollably, curious about why Wayne suddenly took the initiative today when he had previously said their feelings weren’t there yet; they needed to continue cultivating without him taking advantage of her compliance.

"Mona, why is your face so red?" Wayne lifted his wine glass to clink with hers.

It must be said, Philark’s training was excellent. Under his tireless efforts, Wayne was able to embody a gentleman so well—his demeanor, temperament, and actions all exuded elegance, easily capable of capturing a lady’s heart.

Mona glanced at him, not sure if it was the effect of the wine or something else, but her eyes began to blur.

Realizing her slight lapse, she took a sip from her glass to cover her embarrassment and swallowed her saliva that had been secreting at the thought of being close to Wayne.

Wayne took a sip of wine and moved behind Mona, looking down from above, and commented, "Rather than gems, a Crucifix pendant would suit you better."

"Let’s switch then."

"Not now, let’s drink first. This is an imported red wine from Frank."

Wayne took a sip and then raised Mona’s chin to pass the glass.

His technique honed by fiancées, beloveds, girlfriends, and mistresses provided a playbook for a candlelit dinner.

It was supremely effective.

The silky routine left Mona absolutely disheveled. At this moment, if asked what St. Paul Cathedral was called, she surely couldn’t answer.
