Chapter 740: Chapter 294: One is willing to hit, the other is willing to suffer

August 23rd.

Near the Balearic Islands of Iberia, the Green Dragon landed, and Wayne’s party of four arrived at the seaside villa.

In the living room, Austin sat on the sofa fiddling with an Ancient Silver Coin, Megan...

Megan stood far away today, not shadowing Austin like she usually did.

"Why are you standing so far away? Is it on purpose or an accident? Tell me, have you two been discussing the true meaning of life these past few days?"

Wayne watched the scene with a cold and stern gaze, his expression full of strong emotions, anger on behalf of his mother not valued by his son.

It wasn’t that he was looking for trouble, but the fact was as it stood. He had long predicted that if Megan managed to defeat Philark and become the Randao Family’s head butler, surely, she must have used a promotion device.

"You’re late."

Austin stood up from the sofa. Before he left Lundan, he had requested a month’s leave from the Queen, and he was worried about being discovered for overstaying it by a week.

Austin had wanted to leave two days ago, but he didn’t dare.

Without choice, framed by villains, he couldn’t clear his name with mere words, and had to stay to appease his wife’s emotions.

It wasn’t just Wayne who schemed against Austin; Megan was an accomplice. Many misunderstandings could have been cleared up if Megan explained, but she chose to remain silent, waiting for Hefei to deal with her, almost as if she had done something unforgivable.

Austin was helpless about this; being someone who greatly valued family, he had long treated Megan as one of his own and couldn’t bring himself to hurt her time and again with cold words.

Yet by not speaking up, it would suggest he had designs on Megan and was exploiting Hefei’s affection for Megan to fulfill some despicable intent of having both women by his side.

After weighing the pros and cons, Austin chose to stay silent, believing that his wife of many years would understand his good intentions.

Hefei didn’t wish to understand, only knowing that Austin wasn’t speaking and assuming his intentions were malicious.

Deserving a beating!

"What, can’t I enjoy a couple of days on the Icebound Continent now that we finally have a chance for a family trip?" Hefei raised her eyebrows, quite unreasonable.

"You can, of course. What I mean is, although you’re late, it’s your rightful privilege," said Austin.

At least you know your place!

Hefei snorted coldly. She was too tired from the long journey and needed to go upstairs, take a bath, and rest well.

Today, she wouldn’t return to Lundan; she wanted to continue holidaying at the Balearic Islands, and if Austin was in a hurry, he could go back now. She wouldn’t insist.

Austin dared not say more and chose to stay and vacation with his wife.

Wayne nodded to himself. It was now late August, the height of summer; the Balearic Islands were pleasant with sunshine, beaches, and the sea and, additionally, the prospect of seeing sea hippos.

Excellent!

Thinking this, Wayne looked at Veronica, who immediately understood, humming and shaking her clenched fist as a warning to the lecher not to let his thoughts run wild or else face the Dragon Fist.

A willing hitter and a willing recipient.

While they exchanged glances, Veronica, feeling shy, proactively looped her arm around Wayne’s and parroted Hefei’s words from earlier.

"Traveling such a long distance is too exhausting. I need to go upstairs, take a bath, and relax properly."

After speaking, she dragged Wayne straight upstairs.

Austin’s face turned ashen as he looked at Saina, removing all doubt; she was the rival that Wayne had arranged for Veronica, and with a bit more audacity, she was the formidable enemy he had arranged for all three young girls.

An enemy that couldn’t be defeated without banding together.

Because it was Wayne, Austin boldly assumed that even if they managed to defeat Saina by banding together, she would eventually join their group.

A stronger enemy had appeared!

In terms of strength, Saina was a Legendary Mage with Dragon Blood, a top-class power in any church, and it was hard to find a more formidable foe.

But what was Wayne, exactly? Austin had too much faith in him; Wayne would create trouble even when there was none. If he wanted to find a tougher challenge, he surely could.

For instance, the Moonlight Knight, Dreyne, whose power surpassed Saina’s and who could only be faced by banding together as a group.

With this thought, Austin sighed, consoling himself that his heir was extremely outstanding; he hadn’t mistaken him.

After all, he had always known what kind of person Wayne was, and Wayne never let him down, with neither his strengths nor his weaknesses.

...

The beach at night.

Veronica, wearing a white shirt, knelt at the edge of the water drawing circles, refusing to enter the sea no matter what.

It wasn’t without reason; Wayne had brought out a swimsuit that, in the current view, was quite indecent, claiming that it was a private beach and still at night, no one would see, which led him to drag Veronica over.

As a rich young lady, Veronica was very conservative. Except for formal occasions, she rarely wore skirts, and even during intimate moments with Wayne, she kept the lights off.

Although for both of them, having the lights off made no difference to their vision, she insisted on doing this.

That was the last of her tsundere attitude!

"Veronica, come down. I’ve checked; there’s no one around. You don’t have to worry about anyone peeing in the sea," Wayne called out, stopping his night swim.

The swimsuit was of his design, emulating the original creation for inspiration, then fashioned with the thinking of a Golden Mage.

Wayne, with the help of the Pale Nest, fused the five Divine Powers to affirm his life and evolution, becoming the Pale Knight and firmly securing his status as a Golden Mage.

At the Silver Crucifix Stage, Mages adeptly use Magic Power to develop many useful techniques.

At the Golden Triangle Stage, with a balance of life, space, and self, one can activate the Life Barrier, sustain one’s will independently, and possess the authority to reject void knowledge.

One can reject, but they cannot always reject. A Golden Mage must make choices about the future. While some knowledge can be refused, not all can be, nor can knowledge be perpetually denied.
