Chapter 703: 284 Belief is like this_2
Mister Wayne nodded silently. The power and realm of the Legendary Mage, the status of the Holy Maiden as she listens to the Divine Decree, the Divine Arts taught by the Dark Goddess—this generation’s Holy Maiden of the Dark Church was indeed very powerful. It’s a pity...
Elves have a much lower life grade than Ancient Gods, and are inferior even to the Ancient God’s Kin. In a face-to-face encounter, she was forced to abandon her physical body.
However, the fact that her consciousness could escape the Misty Sea and return to the Icebound Continent to reshape her body had already proven her strength.
"What about you, Saina, what are you doing in the Icebound Continent?"
"Assisting the Naturalist Knight in sealing the Ancient God’s Kin!" Saina retorted, unwilling to show weakness.
"Saina, we both know that the God-chosen Knight can solve all problems. If he can’t, no amount of help will be useful, and you aren’t qualified to assist Mister Mula," Anastasia said mercilessly.
"Not the Naturalist Knight of now, but the Naturalist Knight of the future."
"..."
Upon hearing this, Anastasia was taken aback. She recalled Wayne’s self-introduction and looked at him curiously.
She hadn’t paid attention before, but now she noticed his black hair and eyes and his shy smile—a young man who was quite likable.
With the education Anastasia had received since childhood, just the features of Wayne’s appearance were enough to earn a base liking of sixty points in her heart.
Such is faith!
"Saina, how will you assist Mister Wayne? If I may be so blunt, with your pride, I doubt you could lower yourself to help others," Anastasia expressed doubtfully.
Often, it’s not friends but enemies who know you best. The two saw each other as competitors, and being at odds with each other, were very clear about the other’s character.
Saina judged Anastasia as proud and hypocritical, while Anastasia judged Saina as proud and cold. She did not believe Saina would willingly help Wayne—there must be some unspeakable ulterior motive.
Taking into consideration Wayne’s identity as the successor to the Naturalist Knight, she roughly guessed the reason and sneered, "Just like you, daring enough to aim at the Naturalist Knight. Let me guess, what is your relationship with him, a teacher with an ambiguous relationship?"
I wish!
Saina silently resented, returning the sneer, "Don’t view me with the same eyes as before. So many years have passed, and I’m not who I used to be. To prevent the awakening of the Ancient God’s Kin, I acknowledge Wayne as my Dragon Knight, assisting him to reach the Icebound Continent."
Anastasia was shocked, for a moment doubting her own understanding.
After sorting it out, it was indeed the literal meaning.
Even more inconceivable!
Was this still the Saina she knew? The proud, arrogant, cold, and suspicious woman—where had she gone?
Anastasia had no Dragon Blood, but she was well aware of what a Dragon Knight meant to a Giant Dragon. She turned her head and scrutinized Wayne for a long while, curious about what made him so special that he could tame Saina so thoroughly. Being the Naturalist Knight’s successor wasn’t enough; there had to be another reason.
"Stop thinking about it, I did it for justice, for the God-chosen Continent!" Saina declared emphatically, brooking no disagreement.
At the same time, she communicated to Wayne through Telepathic Transmission in a coquettish manner. She and Anastasia were on middling terms, and she did not want to lose to her, hoping Wayne would save her some face. After the matter was settled, she would not resist whatever Wayne chose to do.
Yeah right, the one resisting now is clearly me!
Wayne rolled his eyes and stepped forward, "That’s right, Teacher Saina is compromising herself for the sake of justice. I have utmost respect and admiration for her character."
Saina nodded in agreement, that was indeed the case, and then through Telepathic Transmission, she hoped Wayne would keep his promise and just do something.
Wayne ignored her, pretending not to hear the other’s thoughts.
Anastasia remained of the same opinion and shook her head, "Saina, he calls you ’teacher.’ No matter how you look at it, it seems you are still his teacher with an ambiguous relationship!"
"To be precise, a teacher to his teacher. Wayne is my student’s student," Saina explained.
That’s even worse!
Anastasia couldn’t understand what Saina was trying to explain at all; without any explanations, it might have been fine, but the more Saina explained, the more confusing it became.
She suspected that the outburst of the Dragon Blood Curse had changed Saina, affecting her intelligence and personality significantly, which was why she was willing to submit to being ridden by her student’s student.
But that wasn’t quite right either. No matter how a person changes, the pride at their core remains. The Dragon Blood would not let someone ride on them willingly...
Suddenly, Anastasia thought of another possibility and asked curiously, "Saina, you couldn’t have fallen for him, could you?"
"That’s correct."
"..."x3
The three fell silent. Megan, who was eavesdropping openly, wasn’t sure whether she should feel happy for Hefei or sad for Veronica.
Or perhaps, these feelings were not mutually exclusive, and one could feel both happiness and sorrow simultaneously.
"If you’ve really fallen for someone, I can only say, you have indeed changed," Anastasia sighed softly, before shifting her tone, "You’ve become perverse. He is your student’s student, and he’s still a child."
"Love knows no age; liking someone means just that—I like him!"
"No, it’s not the age I’m referring to. Don’t you consider your own student’s feelings?"
"She wouldn’t dare to have an opinion."
"..."
Alright then, if you’re happy, that’s what matters!
Anastasia was convinced. Saina had changed, but also hadn’t; she was still just as proud.
On second thought, this might actually be an interesting development. With the Dark Knight’s arrival, she no longer had a reason to hold her ground. If she could witness Saina’s follies, maybe that could spice up what remained of her life a bit.
With that thought, she couldn’t help but look forward to it.
Her curiosity piqued, she looked at Wayne, "What about you, Mister Wayne, what’s your attitude toward Saina?"
"I already have a fiancée."
Oh wow, that just got more interesting!
Anastasia laughed quietly and after a moment said, "Saina, I will come to visit you in the next few days. Honestly, you’ve brought me a huge surprise. My future might just depend on you to survive."
